There is something about WNBA star Napheesa Collier as she continues to dominate the league with her A-game. She is the mother of a three-year-old girl who would surely be proud of the Minnesota Lynx power forward.
Having just picked up her third Western Conference Player of the Month title and been named an All-Star and team captain for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, here are some interesting facts about the most inspiring players in the WNBA.
Napheesa Collier knows the art of mastering the court and motherhood
Napheesa gave birth to her daughter in May 2022 and returned to the court just three months later to play one last time with Sylvia Fowles before the latter's retirement.
She has been married to basketball skills coach Alex Bazzell since 2022.
They named their daughter Mila Sarah Bazzell. On her birthday in May, Collier shared an adorable family picture on Instagram and wrote in caption: 'Happy birthday to our baby girl! How she's already turning 3, I have no idea. We love you so much.'
Napheesa Collier is among the most stylish WNBA players
A month after Mila's birth, Napheesa graced the cover of Slam magazine, which gave her the title of 'Superwoman.' And she continues to live up to it, with her growing list of accolades and awards.

Yet she's not just about strength and sweat — she also knows how to glam up off the court, whether it's for tunnel walks or red carpet events.
Napheesa Collier has a basketball league of her own
Collier is a major figure in the WNBA, but she also co-founded her own basketball league with fellow star Breanna Stewart. It's called Unrivaled, and it offers WNBA players, including herself, a chance to compete for money during the off-season.
During her childhood, Napheesa was denied a spot on an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team in Jefferson City.
In response, her parents formed a new team — the Lady Warriors — to ensure she could continue playing.
Glimpse of Napheesa Collier's achievements
In addition to her WNBA success, she has also won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team: one at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and another at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
After playing college basketball for the University of Connecticut Huskies, Collier was drafted by the Minnesota Lynx as the 6th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She became just the second rookie in WNBA history — after Tamika Catchings — to record 400 points, 200 rebounds, and 60 steals. Unsurprisingly, she went on to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award that same year.

Salman Khan shares puzzling post on ‘hunar ka pehelwan'; fans sure comeback is loading: 'Mehnat karo sahi disha mein..'

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has once again set the internet buzzing. Just after midnight, he posted a striking picture on Instagram, hinting that he might be getting ready for a powerful comeback. Known for his habit of sharing posts late at night, Salman didn't disappoint his eager fans this time either. 'Mehnat karo sahi disha mein': Salman's puzzling message In the new photo, Salman looked stylish as ever in a fitted blue T-shirt and jeans. But it was the caption that really caught everyone's attention. He wrote, 'Mehnat karo sahi disha mein. Unhi par woh meherbaan, aur banayega unhi ko unke hunar ka pehelwan." The actor then cheekily added, 'In English… you translate." This line, roughly, talks about working hard in the right way. It hints that those who stay on the right path and show true skill will be blessed and become champions in their field. The thoughtful message has left fans curious and excited. Fans can't keep calm: 'Comeback loading' As soon as Salman posted this, fans rushed to fill the comments section. One wrote, 'Comeback loading," while another happily said, 'Tiger is back." A third added, 'Can't wait for the announcement!" Some eagle-eyed fans even tried to guess more. One commented, 'Piche poster dekho bhai ki upcoming movie ka,' while someone else noted, 'lagta hai kuch naya aane wala hai bhai update hai.' Another fan even gave a shout to 'Sultan' by writing, 'Work hard, in the right direction. He is kind to them, and He will make them masters of their craft. #sultan2 Loading Pehawaan.' Clearly, Salman's followers are more than ready for something big. His recent films didn't do well, but is this the start of a new chapter? Fans know that Salman's last few films didn't work as well as expected at the box office. Even so, this fresh post shows he might be feeling more focused and fired up than before. With his leaner and fitter look, many are guessing he is preparing for a role that will put him right back at the top. What's next? Sequels, reunions, and a lot of buzz According to News18, Salman has a packed line-up of films in the works. There are sequels to some of his biggest hits like ' Bajrangi Bhaijaan ', 'Kick' and 'Andaz Apna Apna' at different stages of planning. There are also rumours of him teaming up with Sanjay Dutt for an action film called 'Ganga Ram'. On top of that, fans might get to see Salman once again working with filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya in a warm family story. A patriotic film is also said to be under discussion. Nothing is officially announced yet, but this new post, his thoughtful caption, and his fresh look all point to something major happening behind the scenes.

After Prada Kolhapuri drama, Dior faces backlash over ₹1.67 crore mukaish coat with zero credit to India

Just when the noise around Prada's Kolhapuri chappal fiasco was starting to fade, another luxury fashion house decided to dip into India's rich heritage without so much as a shoutout. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Yep, we're talking about Dior. And this one's got fashion fans (and a whole lot of Indians) side-eyeing the runway. Here's what went down: Jonathan Anderson, the newly appointed creative director for both womenswear and menswear at Christian Dior, made his grand debut on June 27, 2025, at Paris Fashion Week. The show was packed with A-listers like Rihanna, Robert Pattinson, and Daniel Craig, and naturally, it went viral. But while the buzz was strong, something else caught everyone's attention, a stunning gold and ivory coat with a sharp houndstooth pattern. Sounds luxe, right? Well, it was. It also came with a hefty $200,000 or INR₹1.67 crore INR price tag. Now here's where it gets interesting (and annoying). Fashion content creator Hanan Besnovic, known for his deep-dives on the Instagram page @ideservecouture, did a little digging. In a video post, he pointed out that the eye-catching embroidery on that coat? Yeah, it wasn't just some fancy European handiwork. It was made using mukaish, a traditional Indian embroidery technique from Lucknow, known for its intricate metalwork. Twelve artisans reportedly worked for 34 days to finish this one coat. That's over a month of meticulous craftsmanship. And yet, wait for it, not a single mention of India or the artisans involved. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now No nod to Lucknow. No appreciation for the cultural history behind the technique. Just a pretty coat with a jaw-dropping price tag. This all sounds a bit too familiar, right? Just days ago, Prada found itself in hot water after showing off sandals that were clearly Kolhapuris, but failed to mention anything about their Indian origins. Only after major backlash did they awkwardly add that their design was 'inspired by Indian handcrafted footwear.' Inspired, sure. Now, Dior is taking heat for doing the exact same thing, only this time, with mukaish, a dying art form from India that deserves far more love than it gets. So, what even is Mukaish? Mukaish is a type of metal embroidery that goes back centuries in Lucknow. It's made by inserting tiny twisted metal wires, silver or gold, into fabric to create delicate patterns. There are two main styles: kamdani, where the whole pattern is filled with metal thread, and mukaish (aka fardi ka kaam), where small dots are twisted in to form dainty motifs, usually floral or geometric. Traditionally, mukaish was used to embellish chikankari pieces like sarees and dupattas. But while chikankari became globally loved, mukaish stayed tucked away in the narrow bylanes of Lucknow, kept alive by only a handful of skilled artisans. Now suddenly, it's on the Dior runway, but without the backstory, without the acknowledgement, and without crediting the very people who made it possible. And yes, the houndstooth twist on the traditional technique is super unique, and it is stunning. But it doesn't sit right when a legacy craft from India is used to elevate a Western label's prestige and price point, yet the roots of the craft aren't even mentioned. This is exactly the kind of cultural erasure people are tired of calling out. At a time when conversations about appreciation vs. appropriation are louder than ever, it feels like major fashion houses still haven't quite gotten the memo. Drawing inspiration from another culture is not the issue, it's the silence around where that inspiration comes from that rubs people the wrong way. A model presents a look at the Dior spring 2026 fashion show in Milan in June 2025. (Simbarashe Cha/The New York Times) Here's hoping Dior makes it right. Because let's be honest, if 12 Indian artisans spent over a month hand-embroidering a $200,000 or ₹1.67 crore INR coat, the very least they deserve is to be named.

Sort out IOA crisis, rise in dope violation, says IOC

Bengaluru: India has made an ambitious pitch to host the 2036 Olympics. With its growing economic clout and status as the country with the world's largest youth population, India holds strategic appeal for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) which continues to focus on engaging younger generations. IOA delegation. (x) As new IOC president Kirsty Coventry took over the reins from Thomas Bach – under whose presidency an IOC session was held in Mumbai and cricket (T20) was included in LA 2028 – India has been quick to seize the opportunity. A high-level delegation visited IOC headquarters in Lausanne this week and initiated the 'continuous dialogue' process towards hosting the Games. The Indian delegation was led by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha and Gujarat sports minister Harsh Sanghavi besides having union sports ministry Hari Ranjan Rao and senior IOA and Gujarat sports officials. While pitching Ahmedabad as the host city, the delegation spoke of how the Olympic movement would benefit from the connection of 600 million young Indians and that it could serve as a 'generational springboard for socio-economic development, innovation, education, and youth pride, advancing both India and the Olympic Movement.' One of the important messages emerging from the meeting in Lausanne is that the IOC wants India to immediately pay attention to two issues: the governance crisis in IOA and the alarming rise in doping violations. The IOC representation was headed by Director General Christophe De Kepper and Olympic Games Executive Director, Christophe Dubi. 'IOC has told the delegation that governance issues within IOA need to be sorted. IOC has said that IOA, NSFs (national sports federations), and the government need to be on the same page. They have also raised concerns over the rise in doping cases and called for strong anti-doping measures to be implemented,' people aware of the development told HT. India has surged to the top of doping nations in recent years. Earlier this year, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) figures showed that India's National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has topped the worldwide chart for the number of adverse analytical findings (AAFs) with 213 positive cases in 2023. The trend was similar in figures for 2022 released by WADA last year with India reporting 125 AAF, the only nation to have crossed 100 positive results. 'IOC wants India to implement strong anti-doping measures,' said the people mentioned above. In IOA, IOC wants the governance issues to be sorted out at the earliest. This is not the first time IOC has raised a red flag over governance in IOA which has almost come to a standstill over the appointment of CEO Raghuram Iyer. While Iyer was part of the delegation in Lausanne, his appointment is yet to be ratified by the IOA executive board that has opposed his candidature over his pay package and administrative powers. It has led to a bitter fallout with Usha who has insisted on the need to have a CEO as mandated in its constitution. She has said that Iyer was appointed only after the go-ahead by the executive board. The members, on the other hand, have differing views. The CEO's role is crucial in the new IOA constitution drafted under the supervision of the Supreme Court with inputs from the IOC. Last year, IOC had told IOA that CEO's appointment is a must 'especially with conversations around future hosting of the Games. You need a very strong National Olympic Committee to be able to back those kinds of bids.' Since the new governing body in IOA took charge in 2022, the General Assembly has not met. Executive board meetings too have not been held regularly. The last meeting was held in October and the only agenda was 'ratification of CEO' but members failed to reach a consensus. An IOC representative who joined the meeting online to sort out differences was told by an executive board member to 'not interfere in IOA's internal matters.' IOC has since stopped the solidarity grant meant for the IOA. Due to the deadlock, the IOA finance committee has also not cleared important bills.
