Nithiin-starrer sees decent footfalls in Hyderabad and Vijayawada on opening day. The Telugu action-drama 'Thammudu', starring Nithiin in the lead, kicked off its theatrical run on July 4 with an estimated Rs 2 crore net collection across India.
Occupancy holds in key cities
According to the Sacnilk website, the film recorded an overall 19.91% occupancy for its Telugu 2D shows on Day 1. Hyderabad led the chart with 23.25% overall occupancy, thanks to a strong morning crowd and a consistent turnout through night shows.
Chennai, though outside the film's primary belt, saw a respectable 19.5% occupancy. Bengaluru remained soft, ending the day with a lower 8.25%, mostly due to limited screen availability and regional competition.
While evening and night shows saw a mild dip in Hyderabad and other regions, the morning and afternoon slots were relatively stronger.

Performances stand out, word-of-mouth may help
Nithiin, who plays Jay, received praise for his grounded performance. Varsha Bollamma and veteran actress Laya, making a return to the screen, brought emotional weight to their roles. Meanwhile, Saurabh Sachdeva stood out as the antagonist, as per the first reviews.
Weekend critical for box office momentum
The next two days will be crucial in deciding whether the film can build on its initial response or settle into a modest run. Strong regional support and family audience turnout may be key to its success.
ETimes review for the film reads, "On the technical front, the film is visually appealing, with cinematographer KV Guhan capturing the tribal locales with flair. Ajaneesh Loknath's background score is atmospheric but rarely elevates the emotional beats. The action choreography is stylised, though several sequences stretch believability, further distancing the viewer from the story's emotional core. Thammudu had all the ingredients for a stirring emotional-action drama, but in trying too hard to be everything, it ends up being less than the sum of its parts.
A film that had the potential to hit the bullseye sadly misses the mark."

Metro In Dino Day 2 India Box Office: Anurag Basu's directorial shows reasonable growth to net Rs 5.50 crore on first Saturday; Total remain under par

Dino, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ali Fazal, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Nina Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and others, showed reasonable gains on day 2, after a low opening day. With Rs 5.50 crore net on day 2, the total of the movie stands at Rs 8.75 crore. Sunday should see a slight jump from day 2, and the movie will end with a weekend of Rs 14.50 crore net or so. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Dino Are As Under Dino's Rs 8.75 Crore Net Total In 2 Days Is Under Par; Strong Weekdays Required The collections of Dino in India so far are not up to the mark. Being a multiplex-oriented, metro-centric film with a low opening day, a Saturday growth was obviously coming. What the film essentially needs is a very strong weekday trend so that it can retain good screens in week 2 amidst stiff competition from Superman, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and Maalik, apart from the already strong holdover releases. Dino Needs To Net Rs 55 Crore In India/Gross Rs 75 Crore Worldwide To Breakeven The weekday trend will determine whether Dino will barely cross Rs 30 crore net in India, or go on to do around Rs 40 crore net if not more. With the overseas collections not as strong as they should be, all the pressure is precisely on the India theatricals. As stated earlier, a Rs 75 crore gross worldwide collection is the bare minimum that the movie needs to do, in order to ensure that no one in the value chain loses any money. Given roughly Rs 10 crore gross will come from international markets, the Anurag Basu directorial needs to net around Rs 55 crore net, atleast. Dino In Theatres After Dino, Anurag Basu moves onto his next with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Dino plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Anurag Basu and his Dino.
