Israel's War Destroys 74% of Gaza's Telecommunications, Damages May Exceed $700 Million

DayofPal– The Israeli war on Gaza has devastated the territory's telecommunications infrastructure, with approximately 74% of the sector's assets destroyed, according to a senior Palestinian official.
Speaking at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Board meeting in Geneva, Huda Al-Wuhaidi, Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Economy, detailed the widespread destruction inflicted on Gaza's digital infrastructure.
She revealed that the direct losses to the sector amount to $164 million, primarily due to the destruction of 580 cellular towers and vital fiber optic networks.
Al-Wuhaidi warned that the projected economic losses over the next five years could reach $736 million, given the massive scale of destruction and the urgent need to completely rebuild the sector from the ground up.
'We are witnessing an unprecedented crisis in Gaza's digital infrastructure,' she said. 'There has been a near-total collapse of communication services, and no practical steps have yet been taken to implement UN Resolution 1424, passed in 2024, which mandates the reconstruction of the Palestinian telecom sector.'
She urged the ITU Council to urgently develop and implement an actionable plan to enforce the UN resolution, calling for immediate international intervention to protect Gaza's digital infrastructure from further Israeli attacks.
Since the beginning of Israel's military campaign on October 7, 2023, Palestinian telecom providers have reported repeated and widespread service outages across the Gaza Strip, caused by ongoing bombardments and fuel shortages.
The war, supported by the United States, has led in nearly 190,000 Palestinian casualties, killed or wounded, most of them women and children.
Over 11,000 people remain missing, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced amid relentless air and ground attacks.
Al-Wuhaidi concluded her remarks with a plea to the international community: 'Rebuilding Gaza's digital lifeline is not only a matter of infrastructure but a matter of human rights and survival.'

78% of Gaza Classified As 'Danger Zones' Amid Expanding Israeli Evacuation Orders

DayofPal– A new data analysis by the Sanad agency has revealed that 78% of the Gaza Strip is now designated as 'danger zones' as Israeli evacuation orders continue to widen in scope. The findings come in the wake of an intensified military campaign that resumed on March 18, 2025. The Sanad agency reviewed all evacuation warnings issued by the Israeli army between March 18 and June 29. Using block numbers referenced in Israeli military documents, researchers mapped the alerts against the operational grid first introduced by the Israeli army on October 7, 2023. The analysis shows that approximately 282.8 square kilometers of Gaza, out of a total 364.8 square kilometers, are now marked in red, indicating zones of extreme danger. This dramatic expansion leaves nearly two million displaced Palestinians confined to less than a quarter of the territory, already one of the most densely populated areas on Earth. In recent weeks, Israeli evacuation orders have reached unprecedented levels. The army has initiated what appears to be a comprehensive evacuation of civilians from northern Gaza and from Rafah in the far south. The military's latest operation, dubbed 'Gideon's Chariots,' has fueled a surge in forced displacement. Hundreds of thousands have been driven from cities and neighborhoods across Gaza, including Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahiya, Sheikh Zayed, Tal Al-Zaatar, Jabalia, and the eastern districts of Gaza City such as Al-Shujaiya and Tuffah. The wave of evacuations has also swept into Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza and expanded into eastern Khan Younis. The Government Media Office in Gaza has condemned the latest military operations, stating that the Israeli army is targeting 'everything that moves' in the north. It further accused Israeli forces of 'killing and displacing civilians in a systematic way.' According to the Media Office, Israeli drones have deliberately torched hundreds of tents sheltering displaced families in areas including Tal Al-Zaatar, Jabalia, and Beit Lahiya. As many as 300,000 Palestinians have reportedly fled northern Gaza in response to the relentless bombardment and ground assaults. In Gaza City, tens of thousands of displaced residents have arrived without access to shelter or basic supplies. With camps overwhelmed and infrastructure decimated, many families are now forced to sleep on the streets, particularly along Al-Jalaa and Al-Saftawi roads. The Sanad analysis underscores the severe and growing humanitarian crisis, as the population continues to be corralled into increasingly confined and dangerous spaces with few avenues for escape or survival. June marks deadliest month for Israeli forces in Gaza since war began

DaysofPal – The Israeli military announced on Sunday that a soldier was killed by an explosive device in northern Gaza, bringing the total number of Israeli troops killed in the besieged enclave this month to 20, the highest monthly toll in a year of fighting. The soldier's death in Jabalia marks the latest in a series of deadly ambushes targeting Israeli forces across Gaza. Just days earlier, seven soldiers were reportedly killed in a single explosion near Khan Younis in the south, in what has become a hallmark of resistance tactics since the ground invasion resumed. According to the Israeli army, 880 officers and soldiers have been killed since the war began on October 7, 2023. Of these, 438 were killed during the ground invasion of Gaza, and 30 have died since March 18, when Israel resumed its offensive following the collapse of a temporary ceasefire with Hamas. The mounting toll has sparked growing concern among Israeli analysts and military correspondents. On Monday, Hebrew media described the figures as 'shocking,' revealing that over 54 Israelis have been killed across all fronts since the beginning of June alone, making it the bloodiest month for Israeli forces in 2025 so far. The military correspondent for Israeli Army Radio reported that 21 of the 30 Israeli fatalities since mid-March were caused by explosive devices, underscoring the increasing effectiveness of Palestinian resistance ambushes. Israeli analyst Avi Ashkenazi criticized the army's preparedness and supply capacity, warning of deeper institutional failures. 'Senior army commanders have seriously failed to build up the strength of the ground forces,' he said. 'The army has neglected the ability to supply equipment to the units that are now at the forefront of the fighting.' He added, 'The unreasonable depletion of Israeli army fighters in Gaza in a never-ending war turns the event into a tragedy that should shake the public.' According to official army data, 6,029 soldiers have been wounded since the start of the war, including 2,743 during the ground invasion. Since resuming its military campaign on March 18, Israel has faced a wave of coordinated ambushes and explosive attacks by Palestinian resistance fighters, leading to significant casualties. These attacks have come despite Israel's overwhelming air and ground power and have fueled public debate within Israel over the cost, duration, and objective of the ongoing war. Israeli Settlers Torch Hundreds of Olive Trees Near Nablus

Israeli settlers set fire to hundreds of olive trees on Tuesday in the village of Duma, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank. According to local sources, settlers from the illegal settlement of Yitzhar ignited flames across dozens of dunams along a bypass road, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of olive trees. Residents and Palestinian Civil Defense teams rushed to extinguish the fire, but settlers and Israeli forces obstructed their efforts—reportedly preventing fire trucks from accessing water from a village well near the Al-Murabba checkpoint. Settler attacks in the occupied West Bank have escalated sharply in parallel with Israel's ongoing war on Gaza. In May alone, Israel's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission documented 415 settler attacks on Palestinians and their property. These included armed assaults, land bulldozing, vandalism, and the uprooting of trees.
