Why Beyond the Gates is not airing new episodes June 30-July 4
In a big shock in the soap world, CBS has opted not to air a new episode of one of its daytime soaps during the week of June 30. If you haven't heard, from June 30 to July 4, Beyond the Gates is not airing a new episode, marking an extremely rare occurrence in the US soap world (we can't even recall in recent memory when a planned week-long preemption has occurred with a soap.)
Naturally, fans of the Beyond the Gates have found themselves incredibly frustrated with the announcement that they aren't getting a new episode of the series for an entire week. Check out just a few of the more tame posts we found on X (formerly Twitter).
With all that being said, the big question arises as to why CBS is taking a break in the rollout of new Beyond the Gates episodes. From our research, there doesn't appear to be a set reason provided by the network. Furthermore, the series creator, Michele Van Jean, had this to say about the week-long preemption:
"To those asking: preemption-rerun decisions are made way above my pay grade so no insight into that. The good news is the upcoming reruns are premiere week so those of you who missed it can catch up with how it all began. #BeyondTheGates #BTG"
Additionally, upon seeing the fan reaction to the Beyond the Gates news, Van Jean stated, 'Just want to say to our #BeyondTheGates peeps, I love your passion for the show. And I thank you for it. #BTG.'
So while we don't have a concrete reason for the preemption, viewers fortunately will still get to see episodes of Beyond the Gates this week as reruns will air. And in case you're wondering, new episodes of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful are airing during the week of June 30.
Unfortunately, this all boils down to us all having to wait a little longer to see what horrible thing Martin (Brandon Claybon) did in his past, how Dani (Karla Mosley) will react to seeing Andre (Sean Freeman) with Ashley (Jen Jacob) and what's next in this Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) criminal investigation. Check out what's to come when Beyond the Gates resumes rolling out new episodes.
New episodes of Beyond the Gates air weekdays on CBS and become available to stream the day after on Paramount Plus.

Game Show ‘Scrambled Up,' Hosted By Michael Yo, To Launch On Stations September 8
New game show "Scrambled Up," hosted by Michael Yo, will debut on stations across the country on ... More September 8. Given the durability of syndication mainstays Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy! and Family Feud, it isn't all that common for a new first-run game show to snag station time period availabilities. But Playing Field Entertainment (Cutlers Court), Keller/Noll (Flip Side, America Says, Chopped), and Crazy Legs Productions have confirmed the official launch of Scrambled Up, which per the logline features 'brain-tickling clues in an easy-to-follow format.' It debuts on Monday, September 8. Specifically, Scrambled Up showcases four competitors who must solve puzzles featuring scrambled letters. As the letters correctly rearrange themselves, the clues the contestants receive will become easier. The first person who buzzes in with the correct answer will have a chance to win $10,000. A wrong answer means that player can no longer guess while the first player with the right answer wins the points. Hosted by actor comedian Michael Yo, Scrambled Up has been cleared in more than a reported 80 percent of the country. Included are stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, and Miami. Launch partners include CBS Television Stations, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Nexstar Media Group, E.W. Scripps Company, Tegna Inc., Weigel Broadcasting Co., and Gray Television, among others. Playing Field Entertainment is handling distribution sales and CBS Media Ventures is handling advertising sales. Actor and comedian Miichael will host the upcoming syndication game show "Scrambled Up." Dave Noll, Cleve Keller, Ross Babbit, Dave Bulhack, Gary Apple, Tom Cappello, and Scott Thigpen will serve as executive producers. 'We are thrilled by the enthusiastic response from our station launch partners and know that audiences are going to equally embrace Scrambled Up', stated David Bulhack, Co-Founder, Playing Field Entertainment in a statement. 'Keller/Noll has again created a super fun and engaging game show that will have viewers eagerly playing along and wanting more,' noted Tom Cappello, CEO of Crazy Legs Productions. 'We're excited to bring another hit to the syndication marketplace, and Scrambled Up is sure to be it.' Scrambled Up! is the second new first-run syndicated game show for next season. The first is The Perfect Line from CBS Media Ventures, which features Inside Edition's Deborah Norville hosting this trivia game of questions about world events, pop culture, sports, science and other topics. Contestants are given a category and then arrange events, items or people to create 'the perfect line.' Anchored by CBS Stations Group, The Perfect Line is now sold to broadcast stations in a reported 90 percent of the country. Chances are it will be paired in many markets with season two of Flip Side, hosted by Jaleel White, which is also from CBS Media Ventures.

I Think Netflix's #2 Movie May Be My Favorite Animated Film Of The Year So Far, But I'm Still Bummed About One Thing
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It may seem easy for us entertainment journalists to be jaded about the business, but I love when a movie can truly surprise me. While I knew that Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters was a pretty well received 2025 movie release, I didn't get around to watching it during its first week of release . However the movie's high spot on the domestic Top 10, as well as the character you see above - known as Derpy Tiger - drew me into the fray this past weekend. Having now seen this animated adventure for myself, I can say that it's definitely something to cheer about! At the same time, it also reminded me of something that I hope Netflix gets better about with its movies. With that, we need to talk about those angels and demons currently on my shoulders. Let's start with the good news: KPop Demon Hunters is, without question, one of the best animated movies of 2025. It's a hell of a claim to make seeing as this is the same year we've seen Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and The Day the Earth Blew Up hit the market. I'll stand by it however, as the Spider-Verse-inspired visuals paired with KPop's painstaking choreography and musical prowess alone are worth giving this PG-rated eye-popper a spin. Directors/co-writers Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans' flashy and heartfelt movie sees demon slaying/KPop trio Huntr/x face off against a boy band of demons known as the Saja Boys. While the ladies are trying to seal off the rift between the world of humanity and demon-kind, the boys are working to corrupt all of the progress they've made. The battle in this Netflix subscription booster gets physical, but it's also full of catch KPop tunes that are going to be stuck in your head. Now you're probably wondering what could be such a bummer considering how much raving I've done about KPop Demon Hunters? As it turns out, a very common occurrence with Netflix originals feels like even more of a slight in the case of this original animated hit. Apparently there was a limited theatrical release for KPop Demon Hunters, or at least that's what the official press page for the picture says in Netflix's media library. Only a week after its debut, I cannot find a theater showing this well tuned thrill ride. Despite most major theaters not carrying Netflix movies, unless some sort of special arrangement like Glass Onion's narrow theatrical window, I have a handful of indie theaters that definitely run their product. KPop Demon Hunters has a killer soundtrack and stunning 3D-ready visuals that would pop at the multiplex. As luck would have it, Sony Pictures Animation's gorgeous and emotional ride doesn't waste time proving my case, and the video that proves it is readily available. You can see what I'm talking about with the lyric video for the first track, 'How It's Done,' below: KPop is a worldwide phenomenon right now, and that's probably the biggest reason why I think KPop Demon Hunters should have gone to theaters. Unlike Elio's box office woes, having a cultural juggernaut to link to your original movie helps practically write the marketing campaign. While its success on streaming proves that fresh ideas can still find an audience, it would have made even more sense to let this picture slay at the multiplex. Taking advantage of the silver lining we have going for us, I highly suggest you watch KPop Demon Hunters, now streaming on Netflix. Should you be as taken with Rumi, Mira and Zoey's antics as Huntr/x as I am, don't be afraid to share it! Maybe if we make enough noise, a wide theatrical release could see our girls dancing up a storm in 3D, similar to how Disney brought Turning Red to theater screens after debuting it on Disney+. Or perhaps this continued traffic might greenlight a sequel that fulfills this would-be franchise's big screen promise. If you won't do it for me, then do it for Derpy Tiger!

Netflix's People We Meet on Vacation Movie Premiere Date Revealed
Originally appeared on E! Online This trip will be one for the books. Nine months after Netflix announced the cast that'll star in their film adaptation of Emily Henry's romance novel, People We Meet on Vacation, the streaming service revealed its release date. 'On vacation, you can be anyone you want,' Netflix wrote in a July 1 post on X, formerly Twitter. 'People We Meet on Vacation, starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, premieres January 9.' Indeed, the duo—who portray leading characters Poppy Wright and Alex Nilson—are looking to get in touch with their feelings on the road. (After all, the close friends explore their underlying romantic tension in the 2021 novel.) And true to their connection, Poppy asks Alex in the teaser video if he loves or hates traveling, and his answer is quite poetic. More from E! 'But this morning, I saw this beautiful sunrise over this place that I'd never been before. And I wouldn't have if everything had gone according to plan, so…love. I'm thinking of love.' As stated in the film's title, the duo won't be alone on their vacation. The romcom film—which is directed by Brett Haley—will also star Euphoria's Lukas Gage, The Good Place's Jameela Jamil, Emily in Paris' Lucien Laviscount, and rising White Lotus star Sarah Catherine Hook. And while fans will have to wait another season to watch the adaptation, Henry noted it's been 'amazing' to see the cast bring her characters' blossoming chemistry to life. 'I was lucky enough to get to do some set visits, so I got to see it in real life and knew that it worked,' the author told E! News in April. 'But getting to actually see a cut of the movie, they've changed the characters in my head, which I think is the sign of a really great movie.' On vacation, you can be anyone you want. People We Meet on Vacation, starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, premieres January 9. Netflix (@netflix) July 1, 2025 But despite the new perspective she's gained, viewers should still expect the Poppy and Alex they fell in love with on paper. 'They embodied the characters in a way that the characters shifted for me slightly and became more Tom and Emily than they were when I initially wrote the book,' Henry continued. 'I think readers are going to feel the same way. I think they're going to love Alex and Poppy, and they're going to love Tom and Emily as Alex and Poppy.'
