Selangor police probe eHATI programme for criminal offences
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that witnesses will be called to verify claims, including the alleged use of hallucination-inducing water.
Hussein explained that current information is based on third-party accounts, necessitating direct statements from involved individuals.
'We are opening an investigation paper to confirm whether offences under the Penal Code occurred, particularly regarding the use of certain substances,' he said.
The police are collaborating with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to gather evidence.
This follows Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's directive for JAIS to investigate claims of immoral activities during eHATI events.
JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad confirmed the probe under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995. – Bernama

496 illegal immigrants nabbed in Seri Kembangan night raid
SERDANG: Thunderous knocks on doors by authorities during a joint operation at the Putra Permai Selesa apartment in Seri Kembangan last night sent illegal immigrants into a panic. Some went as far as hiding in the ceilings, while others tried his luck behind curtains to avoid arrest. The chaos during the integrated operation, which began at 10pm, caught the attention of residents. Some even stepped in to assist enforcement personnel by pointing out units believed to be housing undocumented foreigners. A long-time resident, who has lived in the apartment complex for 12 years, welcomed the enforcement action. "The number of foreigners has been increasing, and it's become a problem. "They throw rubbish everywhere, get into fights, and make the place dirty," he said. Several foreigners refused to come down from their hiding spots in the ceiling, prompting officers to climb up and physically extract them. One person sustained minor injuries after falling during a failed escape attempt. The operation, involving 217 personnel from seven enforcement agencies, led to the arrest of 496 illegal immigrants out of 741 foreigners inspected. Malaysian Immigration Department deputy director-general (Operations) Jafri Embok Taha said the joint operation involved officers from the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Immigration Departments, the General Operations Force, Civil Defence Force, Subang Jaya City Council, and the National Registration Department. Those detained, aged between two months and 60, comprised nationals from Myanmar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Cambodia, and Nepal. The bulk of the detainees were 275 men, 80 women, and 30 children from Myanmar, followed by Indonesians (37 men and 25 women). "Others included foreigners from Bangladesh (15 men), Pakistan (13 men), Thailand (three men and one woman), Cambodia (one woman and two children), and Nepal (14 men). "They were detained for various immigration offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63, including overstaying, lacking valid documents, violating pass conditions, and possessing unrecognised cards. "All of them will be placed at the Semenyih Immigration Depot for investigation and further action," he said at a press conference. The department also uncovered three residential units being used as online gambling dens, believed to be operated by locals but employing and serving foreigners. Jafri reminded the public not to harbour, hire, or protect undocumented migrants, warning that doing so could lead to legal repercussions. He urged those with information about illegal immigrants to come forward. As part of ongoing efforts to manage undocumented migrants, the Migrant Repatriation Programme 2.0 is available from May 19 to April 30 next year. "The programme allows foreigners to voluntarily return to their home countries for a compound fine of RM500 and a special pass fee of RM20. He said the programme is available at four Selangor immigration offices, namely, Shah Alam, Kelana Jaya, Port Klang, and Kajang.

Ex-PAS rep's wife loses appeal over seized Proton X70
The three-member Court of Appeal panel unanimously ruled that the prosecution proved on a balance of probabilities that the Proton X70 registered under Aida Tengah was linked to offences under the Penal Code. PUTRAJAYA : The Court of Appeal today dismissed a bid by the wife of a former Terengganu assemblyman from PAS to overturn a lower courts' decision to forfeit her Proton X70. The panel of three judges unanimously ruled that the prosecution had proven on a balance of probabilities that the sports utility vehicle registered under Aida Tengah, 49, was linked to offences under Section 409 and Section 165 of the Penal Code. Section 409 relates to criminal breach of trust while Section 165 concerns a public servant obtaining valuable items from individuals with whom they have official dealings. Aida is the wife of former Ladang assemblyman Tengku Hassan Tengku Omar. He was then the chairman of the Terengganu Foundation investment committee and the state executive councillor for trade, industry, regional development and well-being. Justice Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin said with regard to Section 409, it was clear from the prosecution's arguments, based on a balance of probabilities, that Abdul Ahad Khan, a board member of Hygenia Sdn Bhd, had misappropriated RM3.875 million from the company's funds for personal interest and used RM115,000 from the proceeds to purchase the SUV which was registered in the appellant's name. 'As for the offence under Section 165, it is clear that the appellant's husband was a public servant and chairman of the investment committee when Abdul Ahad had official dealings with him,' the judge said. The prosecution had previously submitted that it had consent to prosecute Abdul Ahad, who is missing. On March 14, 2024, the Kuala Terengganu High Court dismissed Aida's appeal against a sessions court ruling on May 5, 2023 which ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle to the government. The three-bench panel was led by Justice Zaidi Ibrahim, sitting with Justices Ahmad Fairuz and Azman Abdullah. Deputy public prosecutors Farah Yasmin Salleh and Ashraf Tahir appeared for the prosecution, while Aida was represented by Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud. Aida, however, did not attend the proceeding today due to a health condition.
