June baseball is heating up, and so are several former Florida Gators making noise in the big leagues.
The storylines this week range from an All-Star slugger catching fire to a top prospect breaking into the majors.
Pete Alonso continues to lead the charge for the New York Mets, taking home National League Player of the Week honors, while rookie Jac Caglianone made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals.
Across the league, Wyatt Langford is in a slump, Harrison Bader is struggling to find his rhythm and Jonathan India is quietly putting together a solid stretch.
On the mound, Brady Singer remains a steady presence for the Cincinnati Reds.

He's also shown improved patience at the plate, drawing three walks while only striking out seven times. With the Mets needing consistent run production, Alonso is reestablishing himself as one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball.

In Caglianone's last game, he showed off his fantastic bat-to-ball skills, going 4-for-4 at the plate including a double against the Chicago White Sox. While the power hasn't surfaced yet, his ability to barrel the ball has Royals fans optimistic.
Wyatt Langford: Outfielder, Texas Rangers

Texas remains patient, hoping Langford's approach at the plate improves with more reps. Despite the slump, he's still contributing with timely RBIs and remains a regular in the Rangers lineup.
Harrison Bader: Outfielder, Minnesota Twins

Even during the cold spell, Bader's ability to impact games with his glove and speed helps the Twins. His recent walk rate also suggests he's seeing the ball well, even if the hits aren't falling.
Jonathan India: Infielder, Kansas City Royals

His contact rate and plate discipline have stood out, helping to stabilize Kansas City's middle infield. India's versatility in the field has also provided the Royals with options as the team juggles its infield depth.
Brady Singer: Starting Pitcher, Cincinnati Reds

While the results weren't dominant, Singer kept his team in both games and avoided big innings. His command remains a work in progress, but his ability to pitch deep into games makes him a steady middle-of-the-rotation arm.

Mauricio and Soto lead Mets past Giants 5-3 for 7th straight win
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Ronny Mauricio and Juan Soto homered in the seventh inning, and the New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 on Sunday to match a season best with their seventh straight win. Mauricio had a career-high four hits, going 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a tying homer from the bottom spot in the batting order. Jeff McNeil also doubled twice to help the Mets complete a three-game sweep and extend their NL East lead to 1 1/2 games over Philadelphia. Matt Chapman hit two homers and drove in all three runs for the Giants, who loaded the bases in the ninth on two walks and a hit batter. Edwin Díaz struck out Willy Adames and Chapman to end it. The Mets, who also had a seven-game winning streak in April, trailed 3-2 following Chapman's second homer, a two-run drive off starter Kodai Senga in the fifth. Giants top pitching prospect Carson Whisenhunt set for MLB debut vs. Pirates originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area SAN FRANCISCO — When Carson Whisenhunt, Carson Seymour and Carson Ragsdale were all in the same Triple-A rotation, they invented a little game. The three often would walk around the ballpark together, and if a fan yelled out 'Carson' the first one to turn around would have to go and sign autographs. 'Usually it's Whis,' Seymour explained. 'They want his signature.' Whisenhunt, the organization's top pitching prospect, will now be hearing those fans at Oracle Park. Manager Bob Melvin announced Sunday that Whisenhunt will start Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It'll be the MLB debut for the 2022 second-round pick, and it'll come in place of Landen Roupp, who went on the IL on Friday. 'We've been waiting for this for a little bit now,' Melvin said. 'We thought maybe he would be here last year, too. He's our top pitching prospect, I believe. With what's gone on here with the injury and (Hayden Birdsong) going down (to Triple-A), there's a need for it. It'll be exciting to see him pitch.' Whisenhunt, 23, has a 4.42 ERA in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. His strikeout rate is down, but he has done a better job of staying in the strike zone and has limited homers. He'll attack the Pirates on Monday with a changeup that is one of the best in the minor leagues and has long been ready for big league hitters. 'It's a legit changeup, for sure,' Seymour said. 'The fastball is good. The sequencing is great.' Seymour was the first of the three Carsons to reach the big leagues, and he hoped to face the New York Mets this weekend since they traded him away a few years ago. Instead, he is likely to back up Whisenhunt on Monday, and he said he's eager to get that shot. Whisenhunt threw seven innings in four consecutive starts earlier this season, but he has not completed six innings in about six weeks. He threw 3 2/3 innings last Sunday, allowing only one run and striking out four. The Giants used seven relievers on Sunday, but they currently are carrying 10. To add Whisenhunt, who will wear No. 88, they'll need to make moves to the active and 40-man rosters, but they should still have plenty of depth behind their young lefty on Monday. They're currently carrying four pitchers who can qualify as long relief types. 'It just depends on how efficient he is,' Melvin said of Whisenhunt. 'We'd like him to be able to get maybe a little bit deeper into the game than he (did) last time.
