Geese numbers "unsustainable" at Didcot lake, residents told
Resident Matt Booker said he took his son to feed the ducks at the lake, and was surprised by the request to stop."It seems a bit strange to me... Apparently there are too many ducks," he said"I don't see it as an issue, to be honest. "Particularly for our little son - he likes feeding them and seeing them."Marta Rudnicka said she regularly brought the geese and ducks food, and does not intend to stop."I don't think they will put a policeman here, guarding the ducks," she said."The issue is that [the geese] don't have better places to nest. "I don't think geese would choose to nest in a residential area if they had better places. "It's just there is so little of the natural environment left and it's being eroded."
Tony Worgan is the deputy leader of Didcot Town Council and said people tended to feed the birds bread, which made them ill."Excess bread actually attracts rats and it means our water quality in the lakes is affected," he said."There are lots of complaints about the bird mess. "People come home with ruined clothes, ruined trousers, kids fall over."The mess and the number of geese is becoming unsustainable."

It was just last month that the influencer revealed she's expecting again. Taylor appeared in a sweet video with her hubby and her daughter Mila, two, on Instagram. She held her growing baby bump as she wore a skin-tight white crop top and her denim jeans were undone. Her young daughter kissed her stomach whilst holding the polaroids from the first scan. Riyad proudly posed beside his wife of three years in a matching blue and white outfit. He was seen lovingly embracing his daughter as she got more and more excited in the video. Later, the parents were seen hugging their tot on the sofa - who was born in July 2022 - as they all embraced the prospect of an expanding family. The right winger - who plays for the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli - has two other children from a previous marriage with internet personality, Rita Johal. His other children were also sat in their stylish lounge as Taylor announced the news. They soon hugged as a blended family of five as they prepare to welcome a new addition. My blood pressure has been flagged as pre-diabetic – what should I do?
OUR resident specialist and NHS GP, Dr Zoe Williams, shares her expert advice. Today, Dr Zoe helps a reader whose blood pressure was flagged as pointing to pre diabetic levels during a routine health check. 2 Q) I RECENTLY had my free health check and my blood pressure was flagged as pointing to pre-diabetic levels. The high number was 126, and the lower number was 86. My health practice advised me to take statins. Could they help? Any other advice? A) IT is great to hear that you had your health check. They are so important because they help you identify silent but dangerous issues with your blood pressure, blood sugar or cholesterol levels. Your blood pressure results seem OK, but it would be a good idea to still look at measures to prevent it getting any higher. Being pre-diabetic relates to a higher-than- normal level of sugar, or glucose, in the blood. It should be taken as a warning sign that you need to make some lifestyle changes. Aim for 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week and eat a healthy and balanced diet, focusing on limiting ultra-processed foods, alcohol and sugary drinks. If you're a smoker, seek support to quit. Statins are medicines used to treat high cholesterol levels and, in doing so, reduce your risk of developing a heart attack or stroke in the future. The good news, though, is that the same lifestyle changes that will help bring down your blood sugar and blood pressure will also help your cholesterol too, and might mean you don't need to take statins.
