Student vigilance key in keeping campuses drug-free
Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar led the initiative and addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of staying away from narcotics and negative influences. He urged students to focus on their academics, make responsible choices, and strive to become role models for society. Speaking at the event, SP Bardar said, 'Youth are the future of our nation. Students need to stay away from drugs and focus on education and self-development. Your success will bring pride not only to your parents but also to your community.'
Additional Superintendent of Police K Dheeraj, Paderu DSP Shahabaz Ahmed, Inspector D Deenabandu, and SI L Suresh also participated in the programme. They interacted with students, reinforcing the message of drug prevention and encouraging them to channel their energy into positive pursuits.
The officers stressed the need for student vigilance and peer support in keeping campuses drug-free. They assured full cooperation from the police department in maintaining a safe and secure environment for educational institutions across the district.
Students responded positively to the session and expressed their resolve to stay committed to a drug-free and disciplined lifestyle. The police department plans to organise similar awareness programmes across the district in the coming weeks.

Himaanshika Singh Rajput has posted a video on Instagram in which she has said that 'her best friend Radhika was murdered by her own father who shot her five times. He had made life miserable for Radhika for many years with his dominating and controlling demeanour. He would also continuously criticise her to lower her self-esteem and pride. He would listen to so-called friends who were jealous of her success.' What did Himaanshika say on communal motive? As rumours circulated suggesting a communal motive behind the killing, Himaanshi categorically rejected the speculation. 'People are talking about love jihad, but where is the evidence? She didn't speak to many people. She was isolated. Her home was not a place of freedom.' Himanshika said that they had been friends for about 11-12 years and would share everything with each other. 'She worked very hard to reach the status which she reached by her own merit and then also built her own tennis academy. Everything was going smoothly and she was very happy at the professional front but her personal life was full of misery as her family and few other people could not bear to digest her success and independence. Her father in particular was very harsh on her and would shame her for wearing shorts, talking to boys, for living an independent,' says Himaanshi in the video. Uttarakhand Police arrest woman; recover MDMA drugs worth ₹10 crore near India-Nepal border
'Uttarakhand Police have arrested a woman near the India-Nepal border after 5.688 kg of MDMA drugs, valued more than ₹10.23 crore in the international market, was allegedly recovered from her possession,' officials said. The accused has been identified as Isha (22) of Banbasa. Champawat Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Ganpati said they were patrolling the Sharda Canal area near the border after a tip off when they saw the accused running away with a black-coloured backpack. 'When they stopped her and checked the bag, metyhlenedioxy-methylamphetamine (MDMA) drugs were found in two packets,' Mr. Ganpati said. The SP said the woman was arrested and a case was registered against her under the relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused told the police during interrogation that the drugs were given to her by her husband Rahul Kumar and his associate Kunal Kohli. 'The woman said fearing the police's ongoing anti-drug drive, she was going towards the canal to throw away the drugs,' Mr. Ganpati said. A search for Kumar and Kohli is under way. Inspector General of Police (Kumaon Region) Riddhim Agarwal has announced a reward of ₹20,000 for the police team.

EAGLE, Andhra police crack whip on illegal tobacco sales near education institutions
VIJAYAWADA: In a bid to curb substance abuse near educational institutions, officials from the Elite Anti-Narcotic Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) and local police conducted inspections at Kirana and pan shops near Siddhartha Pharmacy College and Nalanda School on Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road on Friday. EAGLE Chief Ake Ravi Krishna, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin) KGV Saritha and other officers, led the operation under the 'Operation Safe Campus Zone' initiative. During the inspections, officials found that the illegal sale of tobacco products and gutka continued unabated in several shops, violating the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). Authorities served notices to violators and imposed fines. 'These checks are part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for students by curbing substance abuse near schools and colleges. Strict action will be taken against those flouting COTPA rules,' the EAGLE Chief said. Officials held a '#DrugsOdduBro' awareness programme at Siddhartha Pharmacy College on the dangers of drug abuse. The EAGLE Chief urged teachers to promote drug- and tobacco-free campuses. He stressed ensuring safe learning environments. A formal appeal was also issued to educational institutions to support the antidrug and tobacco campaign.
