Guerschon Yabusele reveals his reasoning behind joining the Knicks
In an interview with SKWEEK, Yabusele talked about his decision to join the Knicks after a career-year with the Philadelphia 76ers.

'I think the Knicks was a great decision,' Yabusele said. 'I feel like their team, it really matched my DNA I would say. To fight, to play hard, to be kind of like the underdogs to go and fight every night.'
'What I like about the team is also what they did this season,' he added. 'It's a couple of teams that we played against, and I was looking at them like 'oh my god, this team plays good together.' They're a good team, I can tell it's a good group of guys.'
The 29-year-old Yabusele was drafted with the 16th overall pick in 2016 by the Boston Celtics. He would spend two seasons with the team from 2017-2019, largely as an out of the rotation reserve piece. He would then spend the next five seasons overseas before a standout performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics earned him a spot with the 76ers the following season.
What resulted was a career-year for Yabusele, even after so much time away from the NBA. He appeared in 70 games (43 starts) and averaged 11.0 and 5.6 rebounds per game last season.

Now with the Knicks, Yabusele has been brought in to bolster the team's bench depth for next season, which was one of the Knicks' most glaring weaknesses. After finally establishing himself in the NBA, Yabusele is sure to have a positive impact in New York next season.

Mets pitcher José Buttó goes on 15-day injured list with unspecified illness
NEW YORK — New York Mets reliever José Buttó was put on the 15-day injured list Friday with an unspecified illness, the team's 13th pitcher on the IL. He is to throw 60-65 pitches, according to Mendoza, and soon could return to New York's injury-ravaged rotation. 'We'll see how it goes tomorrow and then see how he responds and we'll have a decision after that,' Mendoza said. New York didn't have an update on reliever Dedniel Núñez, who was put on the IL on Thursday because of a sprained right elbow sprain and could require Tommy John surgery for the second time. 'He's going to to visit a doctor next week because of a holiday weekend,' Mendoza said.

Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman spoke to the versatility of van Riemsdyk's potential role with the team and that he could see minutes anywhere from the top line to the third with some also on the power play. The 36-year-old New Jersey native has found middle-six consistency in old age with 36 or more points in all but one of his last nine seasons. He is an elite netfront presence as uses his large frame at 6-foot-3 almost 210 pounds to carve out a spot in front of the net and impose his will upon opposing defenders. Last season, van Riemsdyk scored 16 goals with all but two of them coming from the slot. Kasper's 14 points over his final 18 games was noted by many including Yzerman, who said that the team would like to see him continue and prolong his stellar play into this upcoming season.
