Badela takes charge at Chippa United
Though his previous stay was short, Badela is not new to the Chilli Boys' camp. In 2021, he was Lehlohonolo Seema's assistant coach at Chippa for six matches.
The club announced the 35-year-old's appointment in a statement posted on their social media platforms.
'We are proud to announce the appointment of Sinethemba Badela as the new head coach of Chippa United Football Club, ahead of what promises to be a defining season,' it said.
Chippa said Badela, who is from Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape, would bring some international experience to the club.
'This marks his first appointment as a head coach in the Premier Soccer League, a moment of pride not just for him, but for us as a club.
'We have built a reputation for giving young and emerging coaches the opportunity to lead, choosing innovation over recycling and purpose over familiarity.
'Football is evolving, and so are we.'
Badela, who was Rulani Mokwena's assistant coach for the Morocco side, replaced Thabo September.
September, 42, one of Chippa's longest-serving coaches, spent 18 months with the Betway Premiership side.
The former SuperSport United coach opted not to renew his contract at the end of June, after he was told he would be assisting a new coach for next season.
The Chilli Boys finished just outside the top-eight bracket with 31 points from 28 matches in the recently completed season.
'As the only PSL club in the Eastern Cape, we carry not just the hopes of our supporters, but the weight of regional pride.
'We strive to be more than a club. We are a symbol of possibility, a beacon for talent, and a footballing home for the pride of the Eastern Cape.
'Coach Badela will lead our technical preparations for the new season, and additional members of the technical team will be announced in due course,' the club said.
Badela, who also coached Cape Town All Stars, referred requests for an interview to the club.

'These incredible individuals are not only competing at the highest level of transplant sports but are also living proof of the power and affect of organ donation. Each of them has overcome serious health challenges and now stands as a symbol of resilience, purpose and gratitude. 'This is more than sport — it's about second chances,' said KwaZulu-Natal Transplant Sports Association (KZNTSA) chairperson and team member Deven Naidu. Naidu was the first kidney transplant patient at Lenmed eThekwini Hospital and Heart Centre 13 years ago. His wife, Raveena Singh-Naidu was his donor. 'Wearing the green Protea blazer, the athletes will proudly represent the nation and the thousands of transplant recipients who rely on the generosity of organ donors. We hope our stories inspire South Africans to register as organ donors and help give others the gift of life. 'They will form part of a more than 60-member South African Transplant team, travelling from across the country to participate on the global stage. Representing South Africa in disciplines ranging from athletics to squash, cycling, tennis, golf, swimming, petanque and more,' said Naidu. PSL transfer news: Maema, Lepasa, Basadien, Mofokeng
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) kicks off next weekend, but the transfer market has been busy since it opened on 1 July. Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have signed 17 players between them in the past few weeks. Mamelodi Sundowns, on the other hand, have not announced any official signings but have parted ways with six players. Another player set to leave the Brazilians is Neo Maema. The 29-year-old is reportedly in talks with Simba SC as he looks for a move away from Chloorkop. The Bafana Bafana midfielder has struggled for regular first-team football in recent times and it seems he will finally leave to get gametime elsewhere The Sundowns midfielder was called up by Molefi Ntseki to the Bafana Bafana squad, which will participate in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) kicking off next month. Oswin Appollis appears to be the biggest signing so far, but if Sundowns manage to sign Fawaaz Basadien. According to reports, Masandawana are close to finalising the signing of Basadien from Stellenbosch FC. The Bafana Bafana left-back did not train with Stellies on Thursday.
