Crude oil Imports dip slightly in June; Russia remains top supplier
Russia continued to be India's top crude supplier, followed by Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. The report highlights a marginal month-on-month increase in crude imports from the US, rising to 2.98 mbd in June from 2.63 mbd in May.
In May, India's crude oil imports reached an all-time high of 23.32 million metric tonnes in May, up 10% from the previous month. Russia accounted for nearly 40% of these imports, followed by Iraq at 22%, while imports from Saudi Arabia continued to decline.
Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly tensions between Israel and Iran, India's crude imports from the region remained largely unaffected. While imports from the Middle East Gulf (MEG) declined slightly in June, Vortexa noted that this was likely not linked to the geopolitical situation, as there were no observed disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. The drop, instead, appears to be driven by India increasing purchases of Russian grades like ESPO.
Import of crude from the Middle East Gulf decreased slightly m-o-m in June, but that might not be due to the Israel-Iran conflict as we did not see any disruptions in flows across the Strait of Hormuz. The drop in MEG crude intake by India last month might be due to India taking more Russian crude, particularly ESPO grade,' said said Ivan Mathews, Head of APAC Analysis Vortexa..
Meanwhile, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said that crude oil prices are expected to stabilize around $65 per barrel going forward. His remarks came after Brent crude briefly rose to $78 per barrel following the recent conflict between Israel and Iran.

US President Donald Trump announced a trade agreement with Vietnam, and that injected a dose of optimism that perhaps more such agreements could be in the pipeline before the crucial July 9 deadline, according to forex traders. Forex traders said Asian currencies, including the rupee, gained ground on renewed hopes of trade deals with the US. Mumbai, Jul 4 (PTI) The rupee appreciated 15 paise to close at 85.40 against the US dollar on Friday, tracking a decline in the American currency in the overseas market and a weak tone in crude oil prices. BEML secures $6.23 million export orders from Russia, Uzbekistan
State-owned BEML on Friday said it has secured two export orders worth $ 6.23 million for supply of heavy-duty bulldozers and motor graders to Russia and Uzbekistan. The company has secured two distinct orders, including one from a CIS nation for the supply of 10 units of its heavy-duty bulldozers, specially engineered to perform in extreme cold climates with temperatures plunging as low as -50C. The second, maiden-order from Uzbekistan, includes the supply of one unit of the high-performance motor grader, essential for infrastructure development and road maintenance within mining operations. With Uzbekistan becoming the 73rd nation to be added to BEML's global exports portfolio, this development reinforces the company's expanding international reach and its credibility as a preferred partner for advanced, mission-critical equipment. The latest order strengthens BEML's presence in the resource-rich Russian and CIS mining markets, known for their complex terrain and high demand for durable and dependable heavy machinery. The combined value of the order is $ 6.23 million. "This is a significant win for BEML and a reflection of our growing global competitiveness. Our entry into the Uzbekistan market and continued success in the CIS region reaffirm our strategic vision to become a leading player in the international mining and defence markets," BEML CMD Shantanu Roy said. BEML, under the Ministry of Defence, operates in three verticals -- construction and mining, rail and metro, and defence and aerospace.
