
Authentic names former Amazon executive as new global head of marketplaces
Derner joins Authentic with over a decade of leadership experience at Amazon, where he most recently served as director of Amazon fashion and luxury stores. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in transforming Amazon Fashion into the world's largest fashion retailer.
In a statement, Authentic adds that Derner has partnered closely with the group over the past few years through his role at Amazon to significantly expand the online presence and retail sales of its brands, such as Reebok, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, and Aéropostale in Amazon stores.
In his new position at Authentic, Derner will spearhead the expansion of Authentic's global distribution strategy, with a focus on strengthening partnerships, accelerating brand reach and driving incremental value across platforms. Authentic looking to drive marketplace growth with new appointment
He reports to Matt Maddox, president, working closely with Adam Kronengold, chief digital officer, and Jarrod Weber, global president, sports and lifestyle, 'to drive innovation and scale Authentic's brands across key markets'.

Tim's track record of building high-performing teams and scaling digital marketplaces worldwide makes him the ideal leader to deepen our capabilities in this space. Authentic adds that its investment in its marketplaces division underscores its commitment to 'a diversified, omnichannel approach that connects powerful brands with consumers worldwide' and it thinks that Derner can help drive the group's commitment to unlock new market potential for its brands.
Derner added: 'Authentic has built an unparalleled portfolio, and there's an incredible opportunity to reimagine how iconic brands show up on global marketplaces.

World's biggest retailer will soon have more robots than human employees
Amazon will soon have more robots than human employees working in its warehouses. The retail giant has long been increasing automation for tasks once completed by humans. As a result it now has more than one million robots in its workplaces, according to the company's own data. This new record is nearing the amount of human workers in its facilities, and will soon surpass them. Amazon's enormous warehouses are now staffed with large plucking 'robots' that can pick up and move packages with their long metallic arms. Other robots are used to pack products into packaging and to help with sorting. One of the newest robots, called Vulcan, even has in-built sense of touch which helps it to distinguish between different items on shelves, the Wall Street Journal reported. Amazon's latest move is to connect the robots to its order-fulfillment systems - meaning the machines can work together and with humans to complete jobs - according to the report. 'They're one step closer to that realization of the full integration of robotics,' robot analyst Rueben Scriven told the Journal. Currently around 75 percent of Amazon's deliveries are helped by a robot at some point on their journey. Amazon claims this has been one of the main factors behind their improved productivity. It also helps solve issues such as high staff turnover at its fulfilments centers, the retail giant said. It has also freed current staff from some repetitive and cumbersome tasks such as heavy lifting. 'I thought I was going to be doing heavy lifting, I thought I was going to be walking like crazy,' Amazon employee Neisha Cruz told the Journal. Cruz spent five years picking items at an Amazon warehouse in Windsor, Connecticut, but was then trained to oversee the new robotic systems. Cruz now earns more than double the pay she started on and is able to work behind a computer rather than on her feet. Amazon boss Andy Jassy warned that AI will lead to job cuts However, the robots are also replacing jobs and slowing hiring at the company which currently employs 1.56 million people, mostly in warehouses. It comes after Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy recently revealed that the increased implementation of AI means the company will slash the size of its workforce in the coming years. 'As we roll out more Generative AI and agents, it should change the way our work is done,' Jassy wrote in a memo to staff last month. 'It's hard to know exactly where this nets out over time, but in the next few years, we expect that this will reduce our total corporate workforce,' he explained. And Amazon is not alone. Last month Microsoft also said is planning to cut thousands of jobs as it ramps up investments in AI. The cuts, which will hit sales roles in particular, are part of a broader effort to streamline the company's workforce, according to Bloomberg. The layoffs are expected to be announced early next month, following the end of the tech giant's fiscal year, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. In June Procter & Gamble, which makes diapers, laundry detergent, and other household items, also announced it would cut 7,000 jobs, or about 15 percent of non-manufacturing roles. Americans are growing increasingly concerned about the impact of AI on the jobs market. The tech is continuing to upend the jobs market with white collar entry-level jobs disappearing fastest and layoffs in tech, finance and consulting gathering pace.

China's largest coffee chain opens US locations
Luckin Coffee, China 's largest Coffee chain, has officially opened its first two U.S. locations in Manhattan, New York City. The expansion marks Luckin Coffee 's entry into the American market, intensifying its competition with Starbucks, particularly given their rivalry in China. To celebrate the opening, the new stores offered special deals, including free tote bags for early customers and $1.99 drinks for first-time app users. Luckin Coffee, founded in 2017, has rapidly grown to over 22,000 locations in China and also operates in Singapore, known for its mobile app-based ordering. Biggest US banks hike dividends, announce share buybacks after acing stress tests
NEW YORK, July 1 (Reuters) - U.S. banking giants announced plans on Tuesday to raise their third-quarter dividends after clearing the Federal Reserve's annual health check last week. The moves come after the lenders showed they have enough capital to withstand scenarios including a severe economic downturn, spiking unemployment and market turmoil. JPMorgan Chase (JPM.N), opens new tab, the nation's largest bank, raised its dividend to $1.50 a share from $1.40, according to a regulatory filing. It also announced a new $50 billion share repurchase program, effective on Tuesday and with an unspecified end date. "The board's intended dividend increase, our second this year, represents a sustainable level of capital distribution to our shareholders and is supported by our strong financial performance," JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said. "The new share repurchase program provides the ability to distribute capital to our shareholders over time, as we see fit," Dimon said, adding that the stress test shows that banks are resilient. Separately, Bank of America (BAC.N), opens new tab will raise its dividend by 8% to 28 cents per share, while Wells Fargo (WFC.N), opens new tab increased it to 45 cents a share from 40 cents, they said in separate filings. Morgan Stanley's board has approved a new $20 billion share repurchase program without specifying an end date and also plans to raise its quarterly dividend to $1 per share. On average, the Fed's stress test found banks retained an average 11.6% ratio of their common equity Tier 1 capital, well above the 4.5% minimum required by regulators. The nation's six largest banks all retained double-digit capital ratios under the test. The Fed is in the process of overhauling the way the test is conducted. The regulator proposed in April that the results should be averaged over two years, which could lead to less volatility in outcomes. "The Federal Reserve has expressed its intention to institute a more transparent and fair approach to these tests, as it looks to uphold the safety and soundness of our financial system," Goldman CEO David Solomon said. JPM's Dimon also said that the new stress testing models could provide more transparency. That rule-writing project is still ongoing, but the central bank said on Friday that if the 2025 and 2024 results were averaged, banks would have needed to set aside more capital to meet the requirements.
