Another Muslim nation set to sign Abraham Accord soon, could create a big shift in the Islamic world, it is linked with Israel, US, through..., the country is... Another Muslim-majority country, Mauritania, may soon join the Abraham Accords, a major peace agreement that began in 2020 during US. President Donald Trump's first term. If this happens, the number of Muslim countries in the agreement will rise to five. The Abraham Accords marked the first time some Islamic countries agreed to normalize ties with Israel. So far, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, and Sudan have joined. This was seen as a big step because many Muslim countries have avoided ties with Israel due to the long-standing conflict with Palestine. Now, efforts are being made to bring Mauritania on board. Mauritania is a member of the Arab League, and if it joins the Accords, it could create a big shift in the Islamic world. The announcement could come at any time, although neither Israel nor the U.S. has confirmed it yet. According to a report by Semafor, a meeting is expected between the leader of Mauritania and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. This meeting is likely to happen outside of the upcoming U.S.-Africa Summit. If Mauritania officially joins, it would be another big step toward changing the relationship between Israel and the Muslim world. Talks Around Syria and Lebanon also gaining pace The upcoming meeting between Mauritania's leader and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could decide when Mauritania will officially join the Abraham Accords. This is being seen as a very important step, especially because there is also talk about Syria possibly joining the Accords in the future. To make this happen, Trump lifted all economic sanctions on Syria. Earlier, Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Shara had also met leaders in Saudi Arabia, which is seen as a key move toward building trust. Many believe that these gestures by Trump were aimed at bringing Syria closer to Israel and encouraging it to normalize relations under the Abraham Accords. There are also discussions around Lebanon, with reports suggesting that it, too, might be considering steps to improve ties with Israel. Mauritania had cut ties with Israel in 2010 In 2010, Mauritania had completely ended its diplomatic ties with Israel. The country is quite large, with a land area of about 1 million square kilometers. If Mauritania now decides to join the Abraham Accords, it would be a big win for both Israel and the United States, as it adds strategic value and influence in the region. President Trump has repeatedly said in recent weeks that the Abraham Accords are likely to expand soon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also expressed that Israel is now ready to welcome more countries into the agreement. According to both leaders, the goal of expanding the Abraham Accords is to bring greater peace and stability to the Middle East by encouraging cooperation over conflict between Israel and more Arab nations.

From ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat' to BJP rebel: T Raja Singh's rise, rifts and road ahead in Telangana Politics

HYDERABAD: Suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh , often dismissed by critics as a rabble-rouser, remains a potent and polarising symbol of hardline Hindutva in Telangana. For his supporters and admirers, however, he is more than just a voice of outrage — he is revered as 'Hindu Hriday Samrat. ' From a humble start as a small entrepreneur, Singh's meteoric rise from corporator to three-time MLA from Goshamahal is as much a story of personal grit as it is of religious mobilisation. He remains the only elected representative from the Lodha community in the state, and his appeal rests heavily on his unabashed projection of Hindutva—often laced with provocation and political theatre. Singh's political style is marked by frequent controversies. With over 100 FIRs, mostly for hate speech and inciting communal tensions, he has often walked the edge of legality. He threatened to quit multiple times over issues like cow slaughter and religious conversions. He fi nally secured a BJP ticket in 2014 with support from Union home minister Amit Shah and went on to win Goshamahal, retaining the seat for three consecutive terms. Goshamahal's unique demography — a mix of north Indian and Gujarati Hindus alongside a sizable Muslim population — allowed Singh to pitch himself as a Hindu protector. He has led rallies during Hanuman Jayanti and Ganesh Chaturthi, using the 52-foot Hanuman statue in Dhoolpet as a symbolic centrepiece. His outreach has extended to digital Hindutva too — releasing devotional music and reaching followers via WhatsApp and proxy YouTube channels even after social media bans. In 2018, Singh served as BJP's fl oor leader in the assembly. However, in 2023, the post went to Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, further straining ties. Singh withdrew from party activities and kept a low profi le until his resignation was formally accepted on June 30. While his next political move is unclear, Singh insists he remains committed to the Hindutva cause — still a rebel in Telangana's turbulent political theatre.

In spirit of brotherhood, a tribute to ‘Op Sindoor'

A symbol of interfaith harmony and national pride is taking shape in Meerut's Sadar Bazaar. A group of Hindu and Muslim youngsters have come together to build a grand 'kanwar' that has been named 'Operation Sindoor' to celebrate the country's military prowess and the spirit of communal unity. (HT) The initiative is being led by Gaurav, who, with 20 of his companions, is crafting the kanwar as an expression of both devotion and patriotism. It will be taken to Haridwar on July 15. The group will collect holy Ganga water on July 16 and return to Meerut. What makes this kanwar remarkable is not just its scale — 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide — but also its design, which features a statue of Bharat Mata (Mother India), a model of a Rafale fighter jet, an Army tank, and temples, showcasing India's military might and spiritual heritage. 'This is not just a kanwar, but also a glimpse of our nation's strength,' said Neeraj Dhameja, an artisan working on the project. The sentiment was echoed by Imam Shahnawaz Jamali of the local mosque, who has been actively supporting the initiative. 'We stand with our nation. The path of religion passes through humanity. Our unity against terrorism is the real strength of this country,' he said. Gaurav said the kanwar was also dedicated to the 26 innocent people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, as well as to India's armed forces and martyrs. The brutal attack had sparked nationwide anger, and the Indian Army responded decisively, delivering a strong blow to terrorists and those supporting them across the border. 'Operation Sindoor is a symbolic tribute to those who lost their lives and to the bravery of our armed forces who defended the nation with unmatched courage,' Gaurav said. This special kanwar will be brought from Haridwar, and the Jalabhishek (ritual water offering) will be performed at the famous Augharnath Temple in Meerut.
