Chelsea's Club World Cup win ‘not an upset'
Cole Palmer was the star of the show in front of a crowd of 81,118 at MetLife Stadium, scoring two fine goals and creating the other for Joao Pedro in a shock 3-0 win.

Defender Colwill said: 'Everyone was rooting for PSG or saying they were going to beat us but it's not an upset because we know how good we are. If other people don't believe that then hopefully we have changed their minds now.
'This performance was amazing and we should get the credit we deserve.
'It was a statement victory and in the future, if we keep winning trophies then everyone will give us the love that we deserve.'
PSG had stormed into the final by thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 four days previously.
Having already won four trophies in 2024-25, including the Champions League and a French league and cup double, their determination to complete a historic quintuple seemed clear.
Colwill is convinced the confidence Chelsea will gain from beating such an outstanding side will see them emerge as strong contenders next season.
The 22-year-old said: 'I said at the start of this tournament that our plan was to win it and people looked at me as if I was crazy!
'So I'm going to say the exact same thing now going into the Premier League and Champions League. I think we're ready and we'll see next season.'
The Club World Cup tournament, the first to be played in an expanded 32-team format, has had its detractors for a range of reasons but Colwill has no doubt the concept is here to stay.
'In the future, I think this will be the biggest trophy of all,' he said. 'It will be bigger than the Champions League and we were the first team to win it.
'I've really enjoyed it, playing games every four or five days, playing to sold-out stadiums, playing against different teams who you would never normally get a chance to play.
'I might be saying that just because we're winners now but I really have enjoyed it and it's been good.
'This is the biggest tournament I've ever won. Going into the game I was a bit nervous, thinking it was the biggest game I've ever played, but in years to come I will look back and think what a day it's been.'

Chelsea and England footballer Cole Palmer arrived to a hero's welcome on the tiny Caribbean island of St Kitts, where his grandfather was born. Palmer said: 'Landing in St Kitts off the back of winning the Club World Cup felt really special. 'It's where my grandad's love for football started. The island's beautiful and really chilled. I can't wait to explore the mountains, rainforest and sea – and to try out the food.' St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew said: 'Cole Palmer's visit to St Kitts and Nevis is a powerful reminder of the strength and pride of our diaspora. After a bit of doubt, Rangers HAVE now got a deal for Djeidi Gassama over the line. But what's next in terms of both incomings and outgoings? The Scottish Sun's Head of Sport Roger Hannah has all the latest. DJEIDI GASSAMA He is a player that was described to me last week as either absolutely brilliant or absolutely rubbish. So you don't seem to get any middle ground with him. He's fast, he will take the fight to the opposition, he's a ball-carrying winner, Sheffield Wednesday's player of the year last season. He will cost about £2.2million and it's probably an area of the pitch that Russell Martin has been targeting. He lost Vaclav Cerny at the end of last season back to Wolfsburg, Matondo is injured and probalby was't going to feature anyway. Cortes, we're still not sure about, and it's a big ask for young Findlay Curtis to carry the fight so I think Gassama will come in and come in to the team for the Panathinaikos game in a week. Well, so far it's only Nasser Djiga and Gassama that have come in - he'll want more players in and he'll want more players in quickly. ROBIN PROPPER There is a chance he'll stay at Rangers if a deal can't be done. In any transfer, you need three happy parties - you need the seller, the buyer and you need the player to be happy as well. Robin Propper came a year ago, some people were celebrating saying they've pulled off a miracle, they've got a Champions League for £1.5million. For Robin Propper, this was the biggest deal of his career, he came to Rangers for the money. He had knocked about the Dutch league for all of his career, he'd never really played for the biggest teams. This was what was going to be his money maker. A year later, Rangers have decided they don't want him. He's sitting there with a two-year deal with the option of a third year so somenody's going to have to convince Robin Propper he wants to go back to the Netherlands and to do that, they'll have to pay him. 8 Robin Propper has yet to agree his exit from Ibrox Credit: Willie Vass 8 John Souttar is a wanted man Credit: Willie Vass WHO ELSE COULD LEAVE? They'll try to get him out of the door, they'll try and get several players out of the door. There'll be Robin Propper, Leon King, Jose Cifuentes, Rabbi Matondo once he's fit, Ridvan Yilmaz - there'll be a whole list of players. Kieran Dowell and Ben Davies to that as well, guys they want off the wage bill. They'll try now in the middle of July to sell them but it's a transfer window that's opened until September 1, if they're still there around about then, they'll take loan deals just to get them out of the building. JOHN SOUTTAR Rangers might well sell John Souttar. He's only got a year left on his deal, contract talks, I'm not sure what status they're at if they're at any status at all. Trabzonspor want him, maybe others will want him as well, talk of £1.2million. Even if you sell John Souttar this window, you don't need to sell John Souttar now. They might find a situation where Souttar and Djiga play against Panathinaikos next week, you don't know if Russell Martin will go to a three, it might be Tavernier, Souttar and Djiga but I think it would be too much of a risk to expose Manny Fernandez to a game of this significance so early in his Rangers career. 8 XAVIER MBUYAMBA Last week, we stood here and talked about Conor Coady and it now maybe looks like Conor Coady is going to hang on at Leicester to see if he has a future under the new manager. It looked as if Rangers were going for experience in that position and now suddenly, it's a 23-year old who's playing for Volendam and is rated at about £500,000. He strikes me profile wise as very similar to Manny Fernandez, very simliar to Clinton Nsiala and it doesn't look like he's got a future there. If you're looking at problem areas just now for Rangers, I think central defence is number one and seven days away from a critical game of football against Panathinaikos, it's a dangerous situation to be in. RIDVAN YILMAZ It seems like five minutes after Ridvan arrived, he was linked with a return to Turkey. I thought he was a wee bit unlucky last season, I wasn't wholly sold on Jefte. I thought there were times where Jefte should've been left out of the team and Ridvan could've had a run at his preferred position at left-back. Yilmaz's best football was at right-back when he was in the team when Tavernier was missing, he played his best games there. It doesn't look to me like he has a future there, but you know something, eventually at some stage, someone at Rangers is going to have to put their hands up to previous recruitment errors. Long before Kevin Thelwell and any of these guys came in, look at the players we're talking about that have been signed and they're now trying to offload. Propper, Yilmaz, Cifuentes, Davies, Dowell, Matondo, everywhere you turn there's a highly paid player they're desperate to ship out the door. These are bad recruitment errors. 8 HAMZA IGAMANE I certainly don't see him moving for more than £15million. Russell Martin spoke and said there had been no contact from Lille to Rangers. So we don't know whether Lille's interest is going to get to the stage where they make a bid, we don't know what the level that bid is going to be. If you were Lille, you would come in low and just see what Rangers think of the whole situation, they certainly wouldn't be going anywhere near £15million just now. I think if Rangers were offered £10million tomorrow for Igamane, they would be daft not to take it.
