Pakistan invites global stakeholders to invest in healthcare sector
Representing Pakistan at Boao Forum for Asia's (BFA) Global Health Forum in Beijing, he said Pakistan presents immense opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and investment.
Kamal invited global partners to explore investment avenues, emphasising Pakistan's commitment to providing strong returns, streamlined regulation, and government support.
Established in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia is a non-governmental and non-profit international conference organisation.
Since its inception, with a focus on Asia and a global perspective, the Boao Forum for Asia has been committed to promoting regional cooperation in Asia and common development across the world.
Apart from traditional economic issues, the conference has been focusing on health issues closely related to economic development and the people's well-being.
'Pakistan is ready for partnerships in global health,' said Kamal, according to a post on his X account, highlighting that250 million population, nursing cooperation, and digital reforms are our assets.
'Economy cannot progress without health,' said Kamal.
During the address, the health minister informed that the recently inaugurated digital licensing and registration system for medical devices 'will complete licensing in 20 days.'
Just days ago, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the digital licensing system, terming it a significant milestone in healthcare reform and transparency.
Sharif said that while revolutionising the country's healthcare sector is a daunting task, it is achievable through collective effort. 'It is difficult, but not impossible,' he said.
The newly-launched digital platform – initiated under the previous coalition government – will enable medical device manufacturers to complete licensing documentation online and receive approvals within 20 days.
This sharply reduces the years-long delays that, according to Sharif, had previously encouraged corruption and inefficiency.

Visa exemption for Pakistani officials, diplomats traveling to UAE now in effect
The United Arab Emirates has formally implemented a visa exemption for Pakistani diplomatic and official passport holders, effective July 25, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed on Sunday. Announcing the development on the social media platform X, Dar said the move follows a bilateral agreement signed in Abu Dhabi on June 24, 2025, during his meeting with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. 'We both agreed to grant visa exemptions to holders of diplomatic and official passports and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bring this into effect,' Dar stated. 'The signed MoU came into force 30 days after the signing date.' He also noted that, under the reciprocal arrangement, UAE citizens will now be granted visa-free entry at all Pakistani airports. The agreement is expected to ease official travel and strengthen diplomatic ties between Pakistan and the UAE. Last month, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual exemption of visa entry requirements among other agreements during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission held in Abu Dhabi. The session was co-chaired by Pakistan's deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar, and the UAE's minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two countries signed different agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas such as investment, artificial intelligence and the digital economy, reported Radio Pakistan. Remittance incentive scheme to continue
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday announced the continuation of the government's facilitation scheme aimed at encouraging overseas Pakistanis to remit money through formal banking channels. The initiative, titled the Workers' Remittances Incentive Scheme, seeks to support the country's economy by bolstering foreign exchange reserves and maintaining external account stability. In a directive issued to the Ministry of Finance, the prime minister ordered the immediate release of funds on a priority basis to sustain the scheme. Pakistan govt decides to continue remittance incentive scheme The move comes in the wake of a record-high $38.3 billion in remittances received during the financial year 2025 - a historic milestone that played a pivotal role in helping the country achieve a current account surplus for the first time in 14 years. 'Overseas Pakistanis are our strength and a valuable national asset,' PM Sharif said, adding that the hard-earned remittances sent by Pakistanis living abroad are deeply valued and contribute significantly to national development. He also noted that these inflows had not only helped manage the country's swelling import bill but also strengthened its foreign exchange reserves. 'From migrant labourers to expatriate businessmen, all have played an integral role in supporting Pakistan's economy through remittances.' PM Sharif affirmed his government's commitment to removing hurdles in the remittance process and making the system more efficient and accessible.
