Gold exploration in Gascoyne heating up
BNZ, SPR and WYX eyeing a slice of the pie
Region also prospective for precious metals like silver
WA's Gascoyne region was dug up by old timers for over a century, with towns built on the dreams of gold prospectors.
And plenty of what glittered turned out to be gold.
Notable mines included the Star of Mangaroon, which was found in 1956 and mined until 1983, producing a total of 7464oz of gold at a whopping 34.8g/t gold.
The story goes that the assayer wrote on the bottom of his report 'If you don't start working this, I'll come up and do it myself.'
In recent years, the region has received a new lease on life, with major discoveries in gold, rare earths, lithium and more. But today we're looking at the goldies who are looking to revive the Gascoyne.
One of these new movers is dual-listed Benz Mining Corp (ASX:BNZ),which back in January acquired Spartan Resources' (ASX:SPR) Glenburgh gold project, mopping up a resource containing 16.3Mt at 1g/t gold for 510,000oz.
With previous gold hits up to 11.6g/t and huge exploration potential over 50kms of strike within over 786km2 of underexplored terrain, BNZ has previously called it a 'transformational acquisition,' comparing the project's geological setting to the multi-million-ounce Tropicana gold discovery.
BNZ kicked off maiden drilling this year reporting new hits of up to 19.9g/t gold and a high-grade wide zone of mineralisation smack bang between the Icon and Apollo deposits – indicating they could be linked.
Now, BNZ has commenced a massive 30,000m program to chase the tail of this potentially continuous, large scale gold system.
And keeping a slice of the pie, SPR is also now the biggest shareholder Benz, holding a 14.9% stake and participating $2m in a recent $13.5m placement to drive drilling at the project. BNZ has shown the opportunities on offer from the gold rich region,
Gascoyne gold back in fashion
BNZ is not the only company hunting for gold in the area. Western Yilgarn (ASX:WYX)has also pivoted to explore for the precious metal, having just secured the Gascoyne project following the acquisition of three exploration licences (E09/2986, E09/2987 and E09/2988) covering a total area of 201km2.
The latest addition to the company's portfolio holds huge exploration upside over the same host rocks as the Glenburgh project, which is just 8.7km down the road.
'We are extremely pleased to secure the Gascoyne Gold Project as it provides excellent potential to delineate gold resources similar to the Benz Mining Corp, Glenburgh mineralised gold system which now expands over 50km in length," WYX non-executive director Pedro Kastellorizos said after picking up the project in early may.
"The company has the same geological lithologies (Dalgaringa Supersuite metamorphic rocks) as the Glenburgh Gold Project located to the north of the current tenements. We have now commenced a geological and geophysics review for the purposes of delineating gold targets to commence ground exploration activities."
The company is confident that – despite the region's strong gold potential being explored in recent decades – there remain areas that are highly underexplored and could present a substantial opportunity to host gold mineralisation.
Geological and geophysics reviews are underway to define gold drill targets.
It's just 300km east of Carnarvon, and delivers both geographical and commodity diversity for WYX. Western Yilgarn's priority focus has been on bauxite, the key feedstock for aluminium. Its Julimar West project north of Perth contains an inferred resource of 168.3Mt at 36.1% Al203 & 14.7% SiO2 (cut-off: ≥25% Al2O3).

Another company on the gold hunt is Dreadnought Resources (ASX:DRE), which holds the Mangaroon project in the Gascoyne, where RC drilling is underway at the Star of Mangaroon prospect.
There, near-surface historical results were surprisingly not included in the November 2024 resource nor the January 2025 scoping study.
The plan is to shore up additional open cuts on the granted mining leases to bolster the already robust scoping study, with the goal of producing more gold, improving mining efficiency and increasing cashflow.
More precious metals than just gold?
While gold is the commodity of choice in the region, don't discount other precious metals like silver. The "poor cousin" of gold has come to life in the past week after breaking a key resistance level of US$35/oz.
Taruga Minerals (ASX:TAR) is one example, having recently applied for three contiguous permits (covering 385km2) in the highly prospective northern Gascoyne province, which contain numerous high grade historical workings for base and precious metals.
The Thowagee tenement is especially interesting, as it features two historic polymetallic mining operations, with the Thowagee mine producing 15.2 tonnes of lead and 5878 grams of silver.
Gold, copper and zinc are also present in the mineral system. Notable historic rock chip results include up to 286g/t silver, 143g/t gold, 59.3% lead and 4.35% copper.
While West Coast Silver's (ASX:WCE) main game is at the Elizabeth Hill silver project in the West Pilbara, a deal that has propelled the junior to its highest share price since early 2024, WCE has a stake in the Gascoyne gold game as well via its JV with Falcon Metals (ASX:FAL) at Errabiddy, where Falcon Metals can earn a 70% stake by spending $2m on exploration.
The project contains 960km2, including over 400km2 solely owned by WCE, with the company also holding 100% of the graphite rights – important given its proximity to Buxton Resources' (ASX:BUX) Graphite Bull project.
At Stockhead, we tell it like it is. While Buxton Resources, Western Yilgarn, Spartan Resources, Taruga Minerals and West Coast Silver are Stockhead advertisers, they did not sponsor this article.

Tech-centric Bailador delivers strong FY25

Bailador reports strong FY25 with private portfolio companies delivering 33% IRR Six out of nine Bailador private portfolio companies achieved significant valuation uplifts Deployed $40.8m in strategic new and follow-on investments in FY25, positioning for long-term growth Special Report: Tech-centric capital fund Bailador Technology Investments recorded a standout FY25, marked by strategic capital deployment and strong growth across its private portfolio. Bailador Technology Investments (ASX:BTI) reported a 33% internal rate of return (IRR) in FY25 from its private portfolio companies with six of nine companies achieving significant valuation uplifts. With $40.8 million invested in new and follow-on deals and fully franked dividends of 7.1 cents paid to shareholders in FY25, Bailador co-founder David Kirk said it was well-positioned for continued momentum into FY26. 'The past 12 months have been defined by exceptional portfolio performance, new investments and the successful execution of our growth investment thesis,' he said. Kirk said the three key themes of strong IRR, targeted deployment of capital and dividend returns to shareholders had driven its success in FY25. Private portfolio drives performance, Updoc value increases 86% Private company investments were standout performers of FY25, he said, demonstrating the quality of its investment selection and strength of the technology sectors targeted. 'Updoc, the digital health platform we invested in in May 2024 has been a standout performer. 'Updoc has increased in value 86% ($17.2m) since we invested. 'We wrote Updoc up by 50% in December 2024 and another 24% in June 2025.' BTI reported a 59% uplift in the equity value of its investment in financial advice and investment management platform DASH. The company invested $30m in DASH in June 2024, including $25m in equity and $5m in debt. 'This uplift was in line with the latest capital raising price secured by DASH,' Kirk said. He said Dash's successful acquisition and integration of Integrated Portfolio Solutions (IPS) increased funds under administration from $4 billion to $17bn. 'The business delivered 50% revenue growth in H1 FY25. 'New partnerships with Stockspot, Pearler and an ASX 50 financial services business validate DASH's product leadership and provide scalable distribution channels.' Valuations of other investments also up The valuation of another private portfolio company Access Telehealth was increased by 20.8% ($5.5m) in June. 'The valuation increase followed robust revenue growth over the preceding 12 months and Access Telehealth delivering run rate profitability at the end of FY25,' Kirk said. BTI's investment in Hapana increased in value by 50% ($3.9m) since its investment in August 2024. The investment has accelerated the high-growth fitness studio management software's international expansion. 'Since that time Hapana has shown continued high revenue growth and strong unit economics,' Kirk said. 'We are pleased to report Hapana is successfully winning major global customers. Hapana secured major partnerships including powering Fitstop's ambitious US expansion strategy. BTI increased the value of its investment in Mosh by 33% ($2.5m) in December 2024 following a strong year of revenue growth by the business. Mosh is a digital healthcare service focused on men's health across hair loss, weight management, sexual and mental health. 'The management team has executed well in the competitive digital healthcare space,' Kirk said. The company also increased the value of Rosterfy by 14% ($1.7m) in October 2024 at the same time it completed a follow-on investment. Rosterfy provides volunteer and workforce management software to not-for-profit organisations, government volunteering bodies and mass-scale sporting and other events. 'We were pleased to see OIF also invest at the same valuation in December 2024,' Kirk said. Strategic realisations and minimal exposure cushion market challenges He noted that in June, BTI wrote its investment in Nosto down by 63% ($2.7m) following softer trading performance. 'Nosto is a small portion of our portfolio and after this write down, represents less than 1% of the portfolio.'. Nosto is a software company specialising in AI-powered personalisation for e-commerce. The performance of its two public positions was also somewhat muted in the financial year. The share price in hotel bookings platform SiteMinder (ASX:SDR) fell 13% YoY. However, Kirk said its $20m realisation in November 2024 at a price 31% above the June 2024 price crystallised some H1 FY25 gains and limited decline YoY to 5% ($4.4m). The share price in language tech company Straker (ASX:STG) declined 19% ($800,000) in FY25. Strategic capital deployment creates future value Kirk said BTI's disciplined approach to capital allocation had positioned the portfolio for continued strong performance. 'We remain confident in our ability to identify and partner with high-quality growth companies at attractive valuations.' BTI invested $12.5m in an AI-enabled property investment platform PropHero in February 2025 using predictive AI models to aggregate data and tailor investment property recommendations. 'PropHero is delivering very strong revenue growth and we are pleased with progress since our investment,' Kirk said. Its follow-on investments in established portfolio companies, he said, demonstrated its commitment to supporting high-performing businesses through their growth phases. Source: BTI Committed to shareholder returns Bailador distributed 7.1 cents to shareholders in fully franked dividends during FY25. 'Our total shareholder return for FY25 from dividend payments (grossed up for franking credits) and capital appreciation was 8.4%,' Kirk said. 'This return is after tax and all fees. 'We expect continued strong growth from our private portfolio in FY26 and further progress and growth from our large position in publicly listed SiteMinder.' RLF records strong end to FY25

RLF reports cash receipts of $8.9 million in Q4 FY25, up 254% on the previous quarter Total cash receipts for FY25 of $26 million, up 74% from FY24 Full year FY25 net cash from operating activities of $800,000 marks 'complete turnaround' from $3.67m deficit in FY23 Special Report: RLF AgTech has reported a strong end to FY25 with cash receipts of $8.9 million in Q4, up 254% on the previous quarter and up 74% YoY with a full year positive operating cashflow. Reflecting continued improvement in business performance RLF AgTech (ASX:RLF) achieved net cash from operating activities of $800,000 for FY25, up 782% on FY24 of $90k and a 'complete turnaround' from FY23, which saw a deficit of $3.67m. RLF is a leading provider of crop nutrition products designed to improve agricultural productivity, crop quality and soil health. The company has completed its first full financial year under renewed leadership and a redefined business strategy. RLF's June quarter results provide the clearest view yet of its operational cash performance following the comprehensive business restructure. Positive results include FY25 customer receipts of $26m, up 74% from FY24, attributed to improved sales conversion and performance, with growth recorded across all key regions. Core operations remained cash generative despite absorbing the one-off costs of group restructuring, transition and new market investment, reflecting the strength of the underlying business. During FY25 balance sheet restructure debt was materially reduced, interest waived and repayment terms extended, freeing working capital for growth investment. RLF's cash balance on 30 June 2025, was $6.5m, up 39% YoY, driven by operating performance and disciplined cash management. The company said the uplift also reflected successful integration of the RLF LiquaForce business, which it acquired in May 2024. Strategic expenditure for future growth RLF said the turnaround in FY25 was achieved during a year of substantial strategic expenditure across multiple fronts. In August 2024, the company formally exited a legacy Australian distribution agreement, regaining full commercial rights to the Australian market leading to the formation of RLF Australia. The standalone entity required investment and cash outlay across staffing, systems, training resources, promotional materials, product relabelling and national sales coverage. RLF said It had since become a cornerstone of its growth strategy, enabling direct engagement with key distributors, resellers and growers, while restoring access to revenue streams previously unavailable to the company. RLF Australia has secured major distribution partnerships with a footprint now spanning more than 500 retail locations, supported by new marketing, technical and logistics capabilities. In parallel, the company undertook a comprehensive restructuring of its group operations, including streamlining overheads, consolidating reporting lines and redefining roles across domestic and international divisions. RLF also invested in new equipment and manufacturing capabilities to strengthen its operational base and support commercial programs and grower confidence heading into FY26. The company upgraded its manufacturing facility in Queensland, bringing cost-effective production in-house and enabling increased responsiveness to distributor and grower demand. Among strategic purchases was a Variable Rate Applicator for RLF LiquaForce to enhance precision in product application and trial deployment, aligning with its commitment to innovation and agronomic efficiency. China business recovery with record cash collection RLF reported Q4 FY25 cash collections in China at record levels of $5.3m, signalling a successful rebound from the same period in FY24. June pre-orders in the country rose 73% YoY, demonstrating successful distributor engagement and effective digital-led marketing under its Technology Empowering Agriculture theme. In Vietnam, repeat orders and trial programs from three major distributors including KONA, VINCO, YAMATO signal growing commercial momentum. The company said new trials in coffee and durian showcased RLF's relevance in high-value crops. In India, trials with Gujarat Pesticides, ANU Production, Agrico Organic and Geolife mark the beginning of a strategic entry into one of the world's largest fertiliser markets. Entering biologicals segment RLF signed an exclusive agreement with AXIOMA Biologicals to distribute its innovative plant-based biostimulants across Australia, China and Asia. The deal sees RLF's portfolio enter the fast-growing biologicals segment, enabling new margin opportunities. The company said the biologicals offered growers new, environmentally responsible solutions that aligned with RLF's technology-based approach and enhanced the value of its traditional nutrition offerings. RLF has also had success with its Hillston Soil Carbon Project, delivering strong measured outcomes, helping validate its carbon and soil sustainability integrated nutrition strategy. This supports the company's position in the regenerative agriculture sectors. Board renewal and new management Acting managing director Gavin Ball stepped into the top role following the restructure about 12 months ago, after first investing in RLF more than a decade ago when it was a private company. During FY25, directors Liza Carpene and Donald McLay left the board and were recognised for their pivotal roles in the company's ASX debut in 2022 and expansion. In April, seasoned executive Ben Barlow stepped in as non-executive chair, tasked with steering the next phase of growth. RLF said further board renewal remained a priority, as the company aligned its governance with its expanding scale and strategic ambitions. Planting the seeds for scaled growth in FY26 RLF said it entered FY26 with strengthened operations, national market access and a clearer commercial identity. In Australia, the company said it was well-positioned to drive revenue growth through an established distribution network, expanded field support and the integration of AXIOMA's biological product range. In China, momentum is building with increased pre-orders, distributor re-engagement and margin recovery underway, while in Southeast Asia RLF said recent market entries were expected to translate into expanding commercial orders following success of initial trial programs. With a simplified structure, increasingly diversified product base and positive operating cashflows, RLF said it was entering a new phase of commercial scale-up. 'The results of FY25 validate the strategy in place and provide the foundation to deliver meaningful shareholder value in FY26 and beyond,' the company said.
