Teaser Trailer for the Anime Film 100 METERS About a Running Rivalry — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant04-06-2025
GKids has revealed a teaser trailer for the upcoming new anime film 100 Meters , which centers on two characters who are gifted runners and their relationship. It starts out as a mentorship, and then turns into a rivalry.
100 Meters follows Togashi, 'a track star who is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without much effort. But in 6th grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique.
'In teaching him, Togashi gives him a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, and Togashi and Komiya meet again later as rivals on the track and reveal their true selves.'
This film has been getting a lot of positive buzz, and it comes from filmmaker Kenji Iwaisawa ( On-Gaku: Our Sound ) and the voice cast includes Shouta Sometani and Tori Matsuzaka.
This looks like a great film and an awesome rivalry story that spans decades. I'm excited to watch this one, and it will open first in Japan on September 19th, 2025. GKids will also debut 100 Meters in US theaters starting October 2025.

I want you to be brave and strong," he tells her. The preview shows the duo outrunning cops and Polly firing a gun to save her father's life. She Rides Shotgun premieres in theaters Aug. 1.

GKIDS & Shout! Studios To Release Mamoru Hosoda's 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time' On 4K UHD Blu-Ray

GKIDS & Shout! Studios are continuing their efforts to issue all-new 4K UHD releases of award-winning director Mamoru Hosoda's early film catalog in 2025. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is the latest film to be given the special treatment, and it will be available on September 9, 2025. The new home entertainment release will be presented with brand new artwork in a 4K UHD SteelBook version exclusive to Amazon, a standard Blu-ray issue, and on digital download-to-own platforms. The first titles in the series to receive a reissue were his seminal 2009 feature Summer Wars and critically lauded 2012 hit Wolf Children (August 5, 2025). Last year, GKIDS announced it had acquired the North American distribution rights to the Mamoru Hosoda catalog of films. GKIDS previously released the Academy Award®- and Golden Globe-nominated Mirai (2018), and the critically lauded Belle (2021), which became Hosoda's highest-grossing film to date in North America. The director Mamoru Hosoda's six features have all been nominated for, and five have been awarded, the Japan Academy Prize for 'Animation of the Year.' Hosoda remains the only Japanese animation director outside of the famed Studio Ghibli to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. Get more details below!
