49ers superstar calls undrafted teammate 'a freak'
The San Francisco 49ers have had a lot of talent on their roster over the last few years, so for someone like George Kittle, who is among the best that San Francisco has had, to be impressed by a rookie, that says a lot.
However, this year, Kittle has really enjoyed working with undrafted rookie wide receiver Isaiah Neyor throughout organized team activities and mandatory minicamp.
'He's a good kid,' Kittle said on a recent appearance on 'Bussin' With The Boys' with former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton from Tight End University. 'I like him. He's a freak.'
Neyor, 24, was a two-star recruit out of Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas before committing to Wyoming. After two years he transferred to Texas, and two years later, he transferred for one final season at Nebraska.
In his collegiate career, which was severely impacted by injuries, Neyor appeared in 33 games, catching 87 passes for 1,595 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also earned second-team All-Mountain West honors for a 44-catch, 878-yard, 12-touchdown campaign with Wyoming in 2021.
What caught Kittle's eye early was the wide receiver's athleticism.
'I watched him, he was running a route and he got like 9 1/2 yards in two strides,' Kittle said. 'I was like, 'Holy [expletive].' It was insane. We watched it like 10 times in the tight end room. We were like 'How is he doing this?' '
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Neyor posted a 38-inch vertical and ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash, and that type of athleticism could be really helpful for an offense looking for someone to step up at wide receiver after they traded Deebo Samuel and with Brandon Aiyuk recovering from a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus.
If Neyor can show out in training camp and preseason, he may carve out a spot on the roster and a role in the offense as a rookie.

PFF inadvertently makes case for why 49ers should trade for former All-Pro CB
The San Francisco 49ers skewed younger with their offseason additions for their on-the-fly roster overhaul. Pro Football Focus inadvertently laid out the case for why the 49ers should abandon that trend to add a veteran former All-Pro at cornerback. In a piece highlighting 10 late-career veterans still playing at a high level, PFF's Ryan Smith took a look at how effective Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey still is at age 30. Via PFF: It's still unclear where Ramsey will be playing in 2025 (likely not with the Dolphins), but wherever it is, that team will be getting one of the most talented cornerbacks in the NFL. While he's no longer a top-five player at his position, Ramsey proved last year that he still has a lot left in the tank. He ranked 10th out of 116 qualifying cornerbacks in PFF overall grade (76.9), eighth in PFF run-defense grade (85.7) and 25th in PFF advanced coverage grade, allowing two touchdowns across 607 coverage snaps. Making this trade runs antithetical to the 49ers offseason plan where they shed big salaries for aging, declining players. Ramsey's situation is unique, though and the fact he's still playing like a top-10 player at his position makes him a potentially valuable addition for San Francisco in a trade with the Dolphins. If Ramsey can be had for a future late-round pick, the 49ers would shore up a secondary that suddenly has another question mark after Deommodore Lenoir's arrest in Southern California on Thursday. Lenoir is flanked by second-year CB Renardo Green, and a third CB who will have to win a starting job in training camp. Uncertainty in the secondary with a young, unproven defensive line is a recipe for disaster for the 49ers. Acquiring Ramsey could help their cornerback room without completely breaking the bank. Ramsey carries a $16.6 million cap hit in 2025. The 49ers have plenty of cap space to withstand such an add. Over the Cap has them with more than $45 million in room. If Ramsey's production rapidly declines in 2025, the 49ers can release him in 2026 with an $18.4 million cap hit and $6,656,000 in savings according to Spotrac. With relatively little dead money scheduled to be on the books, the risk of having to absorb the dead cap number is worth the potential reward of bringing a Pro Bowl-caliber CB into a young, unproven secondary. Alternate NFL universe: What if Tennessee Titans traded No. 1 overall pick?
Now that the NFL is in the home stretch before training camp, it's always fun to look back at some of the what-ifs that were spawned from rumors throughout the offseason. Whether it was phantom free agent signings or trades that never developed, there were quite a few storylines that could have been, but never came to fruition. The Tennessee Titans sat at the center of a few of those, but none more so than the mystery surrounding the first overall selection and whether they would stay put and make the selection. At one point, immediately after the NFL Scouting Combine, it appeared as if trading away the pick was a foregone conclusion, but in the end, they stayed at No. 1 and selected Cam Ward, and the rest is history. Cody Benjamin wondered the same thing and listed the potential trade of the first overall pick as one of the five what-ifs that could have changed the face of the NFL in 2025 and beyond. Cam Ward to the Giants Embattled general manager Joe Schoen lived up to his promise to "look under every rock" for quarterback help this offseason, adding not one but three new passers in Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart. The thing is, he may have settled for just one, had he gotten his wish. After failing to acquire Stafford in a blockbuster trade, Schoen's Giants were reported as front-runners to land the No. 1 pick in the draft, with Miami's Cam Ward the anticipated target. What if the Tennessee Titans hadn't been smitten with Ward -- or just so desperate for their own new signal-caller -- and actually dealt the top pick to Big Blue? We might be preparing for Ward to open the 2025 season as the new face of the Giants with head coach Brian Daboll finally set to deploy a gunslinger with long-term promise. Although no official details were released, NFL insiders reported that the Titans declined an offer from the New York Giants for the top pick. This means that the Giants did not meet the requirements of the historic haul that general manager Mike Borgonzi was searching for. Ward has been everything that the Titans expected since landing in Nashville, and there is no doubt he would have made the same impact if he had made his way to New York. The Giants eventually took Jackson Dart, but Ward would have been a no-brainer. He was the top quarterback in the class, and with his college experience and football acumen, he appears ready to take over the offense. Had the Titans traded out of the spot, it is likely that their entire draft strategy would have changed, and that Abdul Carter would have been the selection. This also means that they would likely be riding with Will Levis as the starter heading into the season. While fans may freak out with that proposition, Levis has had a tremendous offseason and looks like a different quarterback. The extra work he put in with Jordan Palmer appears to have paid off. What they would have done with the rest of the selections, and what those selections would have been, may be a mystery. Still, they would not have selected Femi Oladejo in the second round if they had taken Carter, and their haul would have been entirely different. Looking back, if he had gone to New York, Ward would have made for an interesting competition between Russell Wilson during the offseason and training camp. Instead, he is in Nashville preparing to be the face of the franchise. Now that the dust has settled, Titans fans are excited that this was a what-if and not a reality.

San Francisco 49ers' Deommodore Lenoir arrested in Los Angeles

(AP Photo/Jed Jacobsohn, File) LOS ANGELES (AP) — San Francisco 49ers player Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles on a charge of obstructing law enforcement and later released Friday, police said. Los Angeles police said they saw multiple double-parked cars blocking traffic at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. They said a suspect 'appearing to conceal contraband' threw the keys to one of the cars to Lenoir, who refused to give them to officers. Advertisement Officers eventually recovered a gun and narcotics in one of the cars. Lenoir, 25, was arrested and booked on a charge of delaying and resisting a peace officer. According to the county jail inmate information center, Lenoir was released around 1 a.m. Friday and is due to appear in court July 25. A spokesperson for the San Francisco 49ers did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment. Lenoir attended Los Angeles Salesian High School and played for the Oregon Ducks before being drafted by the 49ers in 2021. The cornerback signed a five-year, $92 million extension with the 49ers in November.
