Bhubaneswar: A total of Rs 697 crore was disbursed to over 34.85 lakh farmers in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on Saturday. The state-level programme, held at ICAR-CIFA on the city's outskirts was attended by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferring Rs 20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across the country from Varanasi. Under the scheme, Rs 2,000 each was transferred directly to the bank accounts of farmers. Majhi said, "It is our govt's commitment to ensure the inclusion of all eligible beneficiaries under the scheme. No eligible farmer in the state should be left out," he said, adding that saturation drives are underway in all blocks. He emphasised the govt's pro-farmer approach, highlighting that over 50 lakh farmers are also receiving Rs 4,000 annually under the CM-Kisan scheme. Together with PM-Kisan, eligible farmers are receiving a total of Rs 10,000 per year, he added. Calling on farmers to diversify, Majhi asked them to practice fisheries and animal husbandry to boost income. "Your income will not just double but multiply many times," he said. The CM also spoke about additional support under the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, under which farmers are being given Rs 800 per quintal as input assistance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Couple Wonders Why Their Photo Went Viral Till They Go Through The Comments Learn More Undo He said around 17 lakh farmers received Rs 6,000 crore in kharif 2024, and over 3 lakh farmers got more than Rs 1,600 crore during rabi. St Xavier's School ordered to deposit Rs 2cr in FD amid fee dispute
Ahmedabad: St Xavier's School in Navrangpura was directed by the fee regulatory committee (FRC) to deposit nearly Rs 2 crore in a fixed deposit (FD) after it was found to have collected Rs 16,000 more per student than the approved fee. The committee issued a notice to the school and called for a personal hearing, during which this interim arrangement was made. According to reports, the FRC set the annual fees for the academic years 2024–25, 2025–26, and 2026–27. Compared to the previous year (2023–24), the committee reduced the fee for Classes 1 to 8 by Rs 16,859. However, the school continued to collect the earlier proposed amount of Rs 39,360 from students, prompting complaints from parents. In response, the Ahmedabad district education officer (DEO) ordered the school to refund the excess amount within seven days. The school, however, failed to comply, stating that it filed an appeal with the revision committee challenging the FRC's fee order. The DEO rejected this explanation, and the FRC issued a fresh notice, summoning the school for a hearing. According to the FRC's ruling, if the revision committee upholds the FRC's original fee order, the FD amount will be refunded to the students. If the committee approves a fee hike, the school will be allowed to reclaim the FD amount along with the accrued interest. This interim solution ensures the protection of student interests while the fee revision appeal is under review. Sehore to join Bhopal metro region under major investment plan: CM
Bhopal: Sehore district will be integrated into the Bhopal Metropolitan Region in the coming years under a major investment drive, CM Mohan Yadav announced on Saturday. He also announced that a state-level agriculture fair would be held in the district from Oct 12 to 14, and the event would attract farmers, industrialists and experts from across the country. Addressing a "bhoomi pujan" and letter-of-intent distribution ceremony for new units in Sehore's Badiyakhedi, the CM said the state was preparing its agriculture and industry to compete globally under PM Narendra Modi's "India First" vision. Over 400 representatives from various industrial sectors participated in the Saturday's event. Besides, Yadav said under the leadership of Modi, the country's role in the world was becoming increasingly significant in this changing era. "India, once called the 'Golden-Bird' is now roaring like a 'Golden-Tiger'," he said. "New industrial ventures are being launched almost every other day in Madhya Pradesh, creating job opportunities for the youth," he said. Continuing this trend, the CM said, new industries involving an investment of Rs 2,000 crore would be established in Badiyakhedi. "A system to procure one lakh MT vegetables will soon be implemented in Sehore, benefiting two lakh families in the district," he said. Additionally, Sehore will benefit from the "Parvati-Kali Sindh-Chambal Project", and is set to become a part of the Bhopal Metropolitan Region in the coming years. Yadav acknowledged the challenges faced while setting up industries and affirmed the state govt's commitment to supporting industrialists in every possible way. He said the state govt was offering special incentives to encourage the establishment of employment-generating industries in the state. The goal, the CM emphasised, was to ensure that the youth of Madhya Pradesh need not migrate elsewhere for employment. The state govt will provide subsidies of Rs 6,000 per month for women workers, and Rs 5,000 per month for male workers for a period of 10 years to industries, he said. Yadav performed Bhoomi-Pujan for six major industrial projects in Sehore, including Asia's largest single-location transformer manufacturing unit to be set up by CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd at Jahangirpur on 18.26 hectares with an investment of Rs 888 crore. The plant is expected to create about 400 jobs, he said. Similarly Bar Malt Malting India pvt Ltd, India's largest malting company, will invest Rs 400 crore in the food processing sector. Land of 10.25 hectares has been allotted in Badiyakhedi Phase-2, which will create over 350 jobs. Eco Concrete Creation Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 170 crore on 11.15 hectares in the building materials sector, generating 230 jobs. Vanya Veda Greens has been allotted 20.02 hectares for a food processing unit with a proposed investment of Rs 115 crore, expected to create over 100 jobs. Annapurna Industries will invest Rs 6 crore in food processing (mainly flour and rice milling) on 0.1 hectares.
