LAFC's hopes of advancing in FIFA Club World Cup shattered in loss to ES Tunis
LAFC had one final chance to tie it in the 99th minute on Denis Bouanga's right-footed shot off a penalty kick just in front, but goalkeeper Béchir Ben Säid smothered it.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were in the crowd of 13,651 at 30,000-seat GEODIS Park on a steamy late afternoon.
Key moment: After a back-and-forth pace, Belaili came through with a right-footed shot from the left side of the box to the bottom left corner through goalkeeper Hugo Lloris' legs.
Takeaways: ES Tunis will finish the round Tuesday night against Chelsea, with second place in Group D and a spot in the round of 16 on the line.
LAFC has been shut out in both of its Club World Cup matches. LAFC had two goals wiped out by offsides in the first half.

(Photo by Rebeca Schumacker/Sports) The FIFA 2025 Club World Cup has finished and the Brazilian Série A is back with a bang. Neymar scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory for Santos against Flamengo, Cruzeiro moved top of the table and a man with the surname Ancelotti has taken charge of Botafogo. Neymar Shines Against Flamengo Santos defeated Flamengo 1-0 at home this week thanks to a late strike from none other than Neymar Junior. The visitors return from a solid world cup campaign, but it's out of the frying pan and into the fire for the 'Mengão.' Flamengo was unlucky to meet a strong Bayern Munich side in Miami during the round of 16, but by defeating eventual tournament winner Chelsea and coming first in the group stage the Rio based team certainly didn't leave anything on the pitch in the U.S. MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA - JUNE 29: Harry Kane #9 of FC Bayern Munchen scores his team's second goal ... (Photo by) For Santos it's a big victory and up to 13th in the rankings. Neymar has had an up and down few months since returning to Brazil. Every grand return seems to be followed by another injury, but a winning goal against Flamengo is a huge moment for the famous number 10. Not for the first time it gives football fans the hope that a Brazil return for the FIFA 2026 World Cup could be possible. Cruzeiro On Top The Brazilian heroes of the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup were undoubtedly the Fluminense squad and management team. 'Flu' reached the semi-finals of the tournament and defeated the likes of Inter Milan on the way. However, like rivals Flamengo, Flu received a swift reminder that you have to be on top form in every game of this super competitive league. Cruziero defeated Fluminense 2-0 which moved the away side to the top of the table. RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - JULY 17: Everaldo Stum of Fluminense fights for the ball with Lucas ... (Photo by) Cruzeiro invested a lot in its squad before the start of the season, and it's so far so good for the team from Belo Horizonte. The result takes Cruzeiro three points ahead of both Flamengo and RB Bragantino at the top of the charts. Star player Jhon Arias waved farewell to the Maracana on Thursday evening. The Colombian has been incredible for Fluminense but he is the subject of a $20 million move to Wolverhampton Wanderers and will be playing in the Premier League next month. It's a deserved move to a top European league for Arias, who has been a stellar servant to Fluminense. Ancelotti Is The New Manager Of Botafogo Davide Ancelotti, the son of Carlo Ancelotti, is the new manager of Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro. There, Botafogo suffered an underwhelming last 16 exit at the hands of Palmeiras, but beat European champion PSG in the group stage. Botafogo has a win and a draw since the Club World Cup, and it's been a solid start at the helm for Ancelotti, who has displayed incredible Portuguese in recent press conferences despite just picking up the language. The team currently sits sixth in the table, amongst the Copa Libertadores qualifying places, and still has domestic and international cup competitions to fight for this year. All four Brazil representatives at the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup lost or drew in the league this week. This says two things. That those sides are rightfully feeling the load of the extra games played whilst their respective opponents were resting, and that the Brazilian league is extremely competitive. Why the US might finally start calling soccer 'football'
It is the world's most popular sport and yet there is still debate over what it should actually be called. Is it football or soccer? U.S. President Donald Trump waded into the topic while at the Club World Cup final in New Jersey last Sunday. He joked that he could pass an executive order to bring the United States in line with much of the rest of the world and ensure that from now on Americans refer to it as football.

Manchester City look to be loaded with creativity on their left-hand side
After a busy summer in the transfer market, there is a new look to the Manchester City squad for next season. Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders have arrived and figure to have key roles to play for their new team. As we saw at the FIFA Club World Cup, there looked to be a blossoming combination forming between Rayan Ait-Nouri and Jeremy Doku. But delving even deeper into Manchester City's left-hand side it could prove to be a hub of creativity for Pep Guardiola's side next season. Manchester City are blessed with options on the left-hand side. Assessing who can play on either the left wing or at left-back for Manchester City shows that Pep Guardiola has a host of quality options at his disposal. On the left wing, it would seem that Omar Marmoush and Jeremy Doku are battling it out to be Manchester City's first-choice on the left wing. Each player has their own strengths that they bring to the position. Marmoush brings goals, and decisive, intelligent and dangerous runs in behind. Doku excels in one-on-one situations, and if his end product improves, he has the potential to become a world-class winger. Rayan Cherki can also play on the left wing if required. With his bag of tricks and creativity, he could be another dangerous option for Pep Guardiola. Although he figures to play centrally or on the right wing. Lastly, Savinho could play on the left. But he seems destined to play on the right wing. Manchester City's left-back options are diverse and loaded with quality. At left-back, Manchester City have a host of quality and diverse options. Rayan Ait-Nouri adds exactly what City have lacked for a considerable amount of time. The Algerian international is a specialist left-back. Pep Guardiola hasn't had one of those at his disposal for some time. The strengths of Ait-Nouri's game do add a new dimension to City's play. Ait-Nouri is a threat with the ball at his feet and is blessed with a wide array of passing. He can play as an overlapping full-back or as an inverted full-back. Coupling Ait-Nouri's game with Manchester City's wingers could form a lethal weapon for Pep Guardiola to unleash. Nico O'Reilly and Josko Gvardiol would seemingly be City's other left-back options. O'Reilly showed last season what he can do at left-back. The young midfielder is a technically gifted player and provides a profound attacking threat from left-back. Josko Gvardiol's strengths at left-back are well-established. He's a threat inverting into midfield with his tremendous technical ability. Gvardiol is a proven goal threat as he has shown during his two seasons at Manchester City. How Pep Guardiola utilises his options on the left could help City become even more formidable. But where Manchester City's left-hand side looks threatening is when all of those options are combined. During Manchester City's 5-2 win over Juventus at the FIFA Club World Cup, the combination of Doku and Ait-Nouri caused havoc. They already look like they've quickly developed an understanding. Their games complement each other, and their link-up play should be a profitable source of goals for Manchester City next season. In theory, the combination of Ait-Nouri and Marmoush should be equally as profitable. Their games do appear to be suited to playing together. How they combine is well worth watching out for. Josko Gvardiol and Nico O'Reilly playing at left-back have already proven how dangerous they can be. They add a different element to Manchester City's style of play than what Rayan Ait-Nouri will provide. But it is no less dangerous and each player combines well with Manchester City's options on the left wing. It would appear that the left-hand side will be a profitable source of goals and assists for Manchester City next season. It is an area of Pep Guardiola's squad that is stacked with talent and contrasting styles of players. Pep Guardiola is blessed with quality players on that side of the pitch and how he utilises those players will be of great interest to watch unfold next season.
