Jake Paul makes wild Kamala Harris reference in awkward exchange over 'sexualization' of women in boxing

Daily Maila day ago
The Taylor-Serrano 3 post-fight press conference descended into an awkward moment when Jake Paul was questioned over the sexualisation of ring girls.
After watching his Most Valuable Promotions fighter, Amanda Serrano, lose to Katie Taylor for a third time, a dejected Paul's irritation boiled over after a reporter raised the issue of ring girls.
The journalist suggested there was a problem with the presence of ring girls on an all-female card.
'It has to do with the issue of the projection of women in boxing... I've spoken to a couple of people this week [about] the issue of ring girls in an all-female fighting card and they said [it's] the sexulization of women.
Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian then cheekily interrupted, retorting, 'Do you want ring boys?'
'A couple of people have said, 'Why not have boys or any of them?'' the reporter replied.
However, Paul's patience quickly wore thin. 'Bro, bro. Please shut the … stop. Just stop talking,' he said with his head in his hands.
Bidarian, seemingly finding the interaction amusing, quipped: 'If anybody wants to send an application to be a ring boy at MVP, send it to that young man.'
A disgruntled Paul then replied, 'Send it to f***ing Kamala Harris.'
Taylor won another instant classic against Serrano on Friday night, earning a majority decision at Madison Square Garden in New York to remain the undisputed female super lightweight champion.
One judge had the match even at 95-95 while the other two scored it 97-93.
The win gave Taylor (25-1) a sweep of her trilogy with Serrano (47-4-1), though a sweep hardly does the rivalry justice.
Reporter on having ring girls on an all women's card:
Couple have people have said that why don't have boys or none of any of them at all. I just wanna bring to the attention the conversation of it.

Taylor won the first match in 2022 via split decision and beat Serrano with a unanimous decision in November of last year. Three fights, 30 combined rounds.
'I just want to thank Amanda Serrano...we're history-makers,' Taylor said following the win.
While admitting she had some issues with the result, Serrano was gracious in defeat and equally effusive in her praise of her opponent.
'I'm crying because it's all about you guys (the fans),' Serrano said. 'Thank you, Katie Taylor, for an amazing three fights.'

Hockey star Joe Pavelski jumps into Lake Tahoe after winning star-studded $750,000 celebrity golf tournament

Former NHL star Joe Pavelski toasted a dramatic victory at the American Century Championship by taking a dip in Lake Tahoe. The 41-year-old sunk a stunning eagle putt on the 18th green to confirm his victory in the annual tournament that this week brought 90 celebrities to Stateline. The ACC uses a special stableford scoring system and Pavelski ended on 73 points from his three rounds - nine clear of former baseball star John Smoltz. Musician Jake Owen finished in third on 62 points, with former US soccer star Taylor Twellman (61) and NBA icon Steph Curry (58) rounding off the top five. Curry is a previous winner at Edgewood Tahoe but he was powerless to prevent Pavelski - who retired in 2024 - from lifting the trophy. He takes home a prize of $150,000 (from a purse of $750,000) and becomes the third hockey player to win the event - after Dan Quinn and Mario Lemieux. Pavelski said some of the money would go towards a new boat. JOE PAVELSKI. WALK-OFF EAGLE TO WIN IT. 🦅 — NBC Sports (@NBCSports) July 13, 2025 Former NHL star Joe Pavelski secured a dramatic win at the American Century Championship Last year's winner, tennis legend Mardy Fish, finished ninth, with former baseball star Mark Mulder, golf icon Annika Sorenstam, ex-NFL quarterback Tony Romo and actor Michael Pena making up the top 10. Some of the biggest stars in the field finished at the other end of the leaderboard. Jason Kelce ended on -51 points, in 86th place, with his brother Travis in 63rd. But their final-round group, which also included actor Miles Teller (75th), drew some of the biggest crowds on a busy Sunday. Elsewhere, NFL legend Aaron Rodgers finished in 15th, with Bills star Josh Allen in 34th and basketball hall of famer Charles Barkley in 69th. But this week belonged to Pavelski, who turned 41 on Friday, celebrated his 17th wedding anniversary on Saturday and then lifted his first ACC trophy on Sunday. He has twice finished second in recent years. 'I've had some close calls along the way... it feels so good to finally get one,' Pavelski said afterwards. 'I believed I was ready for it... (but) golf is a weird game. It's mental, physical, everything, it's a challenge.' He added: 'It's special coming out here, obviously, and selfishly I get to play a bunch of golf, and it's a very competitive group out here. It's just an awesome setting.'

Phillies grab lead late, hold off Padres for road win

July 13 - JT Realmuto's RBI double in the top of the eighth inning on Sunday snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the visiting Philadelphia Phillies to a 2-1 win over the San Diego Padres. Bryce Harper started the winning rally by grounding a one-out double down the left-field line against Adrian Morejon (7-4). David Morgan then came on in relief and fanned Nick Castellanos but fell behind Realmuto 3-1 before hanging a slider that Realmuto drilled to the wall in left-center. Cristopher Sanchez (8-2) earned the win by pitching 7 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and one run while walking three and striking out six. Orion Kerkering got the last two outs of the eighth, and Matt Strahm pitched the ninth for his sixth save. Strahm worked around a leadoff walk to pinch-hitter Jake Cronenworth, who moved to second on Bryce Johnson's bunt. Following a two-out intentional walk to Fernando Tatis Jr., Strahm induced a fly-out from Luis Arraez to end the game. San Diego starter Nick Pivetta was dominant in 6 2/3 innings of work, yielding only three hits and an unearned run with two walks and eight strikeouts. Pivetta has permitted just one earned run in his last four starts, covering 25 1/3 innings. Two errors allowed Philadelphia to take a 1-0 lead in the first. After Harper coaxed a two-out walk, Castellanos reached via a throwing error by third baseman Manny Machado. After Realmuto legged out an infield single, Arraez made a high throw to Pivetta covering first on Bryson Stott's grounder, allowing Harper to score. Sanchez nursed the lead until the sixth, when the Padres tied it. Machado and Xander Bogaerts led off with singles, and both advanced on a Jackson Merrill bunt. Jose Iglesias drove in Machado with a single off Stott's glove at second, but Sanchez induced a double-play grounder from Luis Campusano to keep the game even. San Diego loaded the bases with two outs in the first on a Tatis single, followed by two-out walks to Bogaerts and Merrill. However, Sanchez used three changeups to strike out Iglesias and quash the threat. --Field Level Media

Dodgers' two-out rally puts away rival Giants in extras

July 13 - The Los Angeles Dodgers strung together two-out bloop singles by Freddie Freeman and Andy Pages around an infield hit by Teoscar Hernandez, all producing a run, in a relatively quiet 11-inning uprising that produced a 5-2 road victory over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon. Baseball's traditional first half was extended by two innings when Giants pinch-hitter Luis Matos smacked a one-out, two-run home run off Dodgers closer Tanner Scott in the last of the ninth, drawing the hosts even at 2-2. The blown save was the major-league-leading seventh of the season for Scott, who had set the table for Matos when he served up a single to Matt Chapman one batter earlier. After neither team scored in the 10th, the Giants' sixth pitcher, Spencer Bivens (2-3), was one out away from stranding two baserunners in the 11th. Freeman, though, popped a single between four San Francisco defenders in short right-center field, scoring extra-inning courtesy runner James Outman. Hernandez then chopped a ball to the right of first baseman Wilmer Flores, whose off-balance throw one-hopped and got away from Bivens, allowing Shohei Ohtani to score. Pages followed with a looper down the right-field line, bringing home Freeman for a 5-2 lead. Ben Casparius (7-3), who recorded the last out of the 10th before retiring three straight batters in the bottom of the 11th, was credited with the win. Until Matos' heroics, it appeared Yoshinobu Yamamoto had won an All-Star pitchers duel with Robbie Ray. Rebounding from a disastrous start against the Milwaukee Brewers, Yamamoto shut out the Giants over seven innings, limiting them to three hits while striking out seven and exiting with a 2-0 lead. The two early Dodgers runs were the products of a Freeman RBI double in the fourth and a solo homer by Miguel Rojas, his fifth of the season, in the fifth. Ray was pulled after six innings, charged with two runs on three hits. He walked two and struck out six. Both he and Yamamoto will be ineligible to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game because they made Sunday starts leading into the game. Freeman finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Ohtani singled, walked twice and scored twice for the Dodgers, who will take a two-game winning streak into the break. Matos' homer and a double by Jung Hoo Lee were the only extra-base hits for the Giants, who were out-hit 6-5. --Field Level Media
