Katrina Kaif got trolled for her expressions while giving Zareen Khan an autograph; Veer actor clarifies why she posted video that stirred controversy

Actor Zareen Khan said that she didn't intend any malice when she shared a video of her 'fangirl moment' with actor Katrina Kaif. The video showed Zareen approaching Katrina for an autograph at a movie premiere, and seemingly being looked at with disdain. Zareen's looks were compared to Katrina's when she debuted in the film Veer; she was handpicked by star Salman Khan, who was said to be in a relationship with Katrina. Zareen said in a new interview that she didn't consider all this backstory when she asked Katrina for an autograph, and that she shared the video after a friend of hers sent it to her recently. Appearing on the Hindi Rush podcast, Zareen said that the comparisons that were made between her and Katrina hurt her professionally, because 'nobody wants to live under anybody's shadow', and that it was worse for her because they belong to roughly the same generation. She said that she views the comparisons as a compliment, because she considers Katrina to be extremely beautiful. Asked about the video she shared and the negativity it attracted, Zareen continued, 'I found it so sad. I posted the video because it brought back a happy memory, but people are hungry for dirt, and that's what they did.' Also read – Zareen Khan says working with Salman Khan was 'intimidating', comparisons with Katrina Kaif 'backfired' on her career: 'I was a lost child' Zareen continued, 'In the video, I'm smiling from ear-to-ear like a fool. Katrina is a superstar. In those days, actors weren't as comfortable as they are now with blending in with their fans. It wasn't like everybody had access to stars earlier, so we can't expect to be treated like best friends. I was a fan, and she was the star. Maybe something was going on in her mind that we aren't aware of. It's only others who are pointing out her expression, but for me, it was a special moment. If Katrina got trolled, so did I.' A post shared by Zareen Khan 🦄🌈✨👼🏻 (@zareenkhan) Zareen said that she was accused of sharing the video out of spite for Katrina. She said that she would never do something like that. 'I'm not a vicious person. If I was, I would probably be more successful. She might have had 50 other things on her mind, she might have signed so many autographs already. Who knows? Sometimes, you're not in a good mood because of some personal issues. I don't think there was anything negative.' Sharing the video on Instagram earlier in July, Zareen had written on Instagram, 'Came across this video and the memory is still so fresh. I clearly remember this moment… it's from the premiere of the movie RACE. Thanks to a friend who got us passes, we were able to experience the magic firsthand. At that point, I was just a wide-eyed fan, never imagining I'd one day be a part of the film industry. But Look at how happy I am in this video, a total fangirl… grinning from ear to ear, getting an autograph from the woman I thought was and is breathtakingly beautiful!' Zareen debuted with the film Veer, starring Salman Khan and directed by Anil Sharma. She went on to star in the erotic thriller Hate Story 2, and the comedy film Housefull 2.

Zareen Khan calls out paparazzi culture; pleads for respect for women celebs: "Look at my face, not my body'

Zareen Khan has taken a bold stand against what she calls the 'objectifying gaze' of the paparazzi. In a candid chat, the actress expressed her discomfort over photographers zooming in on women's bodies rather than capturing them respectfully. She said to Hindi Rush, 'I'm not saying all of them do it, but many paps zoom in on areas where there's absolutely no need to.' Calling the practice 'disgusting', she urged the paparazzi to refocus on a celebrity's identity and craft, rather than turning them into clickbait with invasive shots. 'Mujhe Dekho, Ye Nahi' Recently, Zareen made headlines when she firmly confronted photographers who were taking photos of her as she walked into a building. Dressed in a lemon yellow chikankari kurta and jeans, she greeted the paparazzi but soon turned back and said, 'Mujhe dekho, ye nahi (Look at me, not here),' pointing at her back. Zareen Khan Slams Paps For Objectifying Female Celebs: 'They Zoom In On Body Parts'

Last Updated: Bollywood actress Zareen Khan criticized paparazzi for capturing female celebrities from inappropriate angles. She called for ethical changes in media portrayal. Actress Zareen Khan has spoken out against a growing trend in paparazzi culture that she believes is disrespectful and objectifying. In a recent interview, she strongly condemned the practice of zooming in on female celebrities' body parts in videos and photos, calling it 'disgusting" and expressing concern about how women in the public eye are being portrayed. 'I cannot really understand today's paparazzi culture. I'm not saying all of them do it, but there are many paps who zoom in on areas where there's absolutely no need to," Zareen said during a conversation with Hindi Rush. The actress, known for her role in Veer, pointed out how such content not only disrespects the subject but also misleads the audience. She added that the focus should be on a celebrity's face and work, not random close-ups. 'A celebrity is known by their face, right? So how can you show some random body part and ask 'Guess who?' And that too a weird body part. I don't understand what they're trying to do," she questioned. In recent months, several public figures including Janhvi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Neha Bhasin, Rashami Desai, Mona Singh, Ayesha Khan, and Manushi Chhillar have voiced their discomfort with the media's tendency to capture them from behind or at unflattering angles. Zareen also shared how the trend of such videos going viral seems to be losing steam. 'Earlier, I thought their videos were going viral because of this. But now, even the public, the audience, is not enjoying it anymore. They also find it disgusting," she added. Just recently, she had confronted photographers for clicking her from behind during a public appearance. Dressed in a lemon yellow chikankari kurta paired with denim and jhumkas, she initially greeted the paparazzi but later turned around and firmly said, 'Mujhe dekho, ye nahi (Look at me, not here)," pointing at her back. Take a look at her video below: On the work front, Zareen was last seen in the 2021 film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele. She has yet to announce her next project.
