WBO President Announces The Two Contenders To Fight For Vacant WBO Lightweight Title
After Keyshawn Davis missed weight by 4.3 pounds, the boxer was stripped of his WBO title.

He was supposed to defend against Edwin de Los Santos at his hometown in Norfolk, Virginia's Scope Arena.
Due to this development, the lightweight title became vacant, and therefore, the WBO had to choose suitable opponents to occupy that space.
This left the WBO with no other choice but to officially order a contest between Sam Noakes and Abdullah Mason to occupy the vacant lightweight title.
Gustavo Olivieri, president of the World Boxing Organization, went on his X account to share the development:

WBO Championships Committee has ordered negotiations between #1 Sam Noakes & #2 Abdullah Mason, for the vacant WBO lightweight Title.

The official negotiation order shall be notified & published shortly. Parties have 20 days to reach an agreement. #WBO,' posted Gustavo Olivieri on his X account.
Abdullah Mason (21 years old) has been on a good trajectory as he was recently posted on the list of young and hungry fighters that Turki Alalshikh would like to feature on the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford undercard to make the show that will be aired on Netflix a night filled with good young prospects.
Abdullah Mason (19-0, 17 KOs) is no stranger to praise from the WBO president, as he received the same praise in a recent post on the WBO president's X account before this opportunity came knocking.

His opponent, Sam Noakes (17-0, 15 KOs), is currently ranked at No. 9 by the Ring, just one place above Abdullah Mason. At 27 years old, he currently holds the British and Commonwealth lightweight title.
This title fight would be a good addition to the Canelo-Crawford card set for September 13th in Las Vegas.

The Cowboys announced Sunday morning that they have signed tight end Tony Ferguson to a four-year, $52 million extension. All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, meanwhile, remains without a deal as he seeks an extension entering the final year of his rookie contract. The deal for Ferguson makes him the highest-paid tight end in Cowboys history and the seventh-highest paid tight end in the NFL, according to the Cowboys. He signed the extension with one year remaining on his four-year rookie contract that scheduled to pay him $3.4 million in 2025. A fourth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ferguson was a part-time starter as a rookie and has been Dallas' No. 1 tight end in the two seasons since. Slater has agreed to a four-year, $114-million contract extension, according to a person with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history. Sabres avoid arbitration by signing defenseman Connor Timmins to 2-year, $4.4 million contract
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres avoided a salary arbitration hearing with Conor Timmins by signing the newly acquired defenseman to a two-year, $4.4 million contract on Sunday. The 26-year-old Timmins was a restricted free agent and acquired with defenseman Isaac Beliveau in a trade that sent blue-liner Connor Clifton to the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 28. The Sabres are Timmins' fifth team in six NHL seasons since the 2017 second-round draft pick broke into the league with Colorado in 2019-20. He finished last season with a career-high three goals and 15 points in 68 games split between Pittsburgh and Toronto. Overall, he has six goals and 46 points in 159 games.
