Watch: Harpreet Brar joins India's nets session at Edgbaston ahead of 2nd Test
As India prepare for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, a familiar face from the IPL drew attention during their practice session. Punjab Kings spinner Harpreet Brar was seen bowling in the nets alongside the Test squad in Birmingham, prompting speculation among fans and observers alike.Brar, known for his left-arm spin and all-round abilities in the IPL, is not part of India's official Test squad for the tour. He was also seen wearing a training outfit different from the team's official kit, suggesting that he was invited as a net bowler or guest to assist the team's preparations, rather than being formally included in the squad.Brar paaji's left arm magic in #TeamIndia's camp! #ENGvIND #PunjabKingspic.twitter.com/72VM9qEQXe— Punjab Kings (@PunjabKingsIPL) June 28, 2025advertisementThe Indian bowling attack is under pressure heading into the Birmingham Test, after a disappointing loss in Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul in the first innings gave India a strong start, but his second-innings spell lacked impact as England chased down 371 with ease. The rest of the pace attack struggled for control, and India's spin option—Ravindra Jadeja—managed just one wicket across both innings.
With changes likely, there is growing speculation that wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav could be brought into the XI for the second Test. His inclusion would offer more variation, especially if India opt to rest Bumrah, who is reportedly being considered for rotation as part of workload management across the five-match series.Brar's presence at training may not signal a call-up, but it does highlight the team's interest in diversifying their spin resources. With conditions at Edgbaston often offering turn as the game progresses, the management's approach toward spin combinations could be a key factor as India look to keep their batters prepared to face the turn of the pitch, which can be key for their aim to bounce back in the series.- Ends

Give Shubman Gill a fair chance: Mohammed Azharuddin slams India captain critics
Mohammed Azharuddin jumped to the defence of India Test captain Shubman Gill amidst criticism after the loss in the Headingley Test to England. Gill, who took over as skipper of the side after Rohit Sharma's Test retirement, was unable to inspire the Indian team to secure a win, despite scoring a fine hundred in the first innings. The 25-year-old's aura as captain was questioned by Nasser Hussain and many questioned his tactics during the game. Despite this, some of the pundits, like Ravi Shastri, have defended Gill and the latest to do it is Azharuddin. The former India captain said that it was too early to talk about his captaincy and he should be given a fair chance as he has just started the job. advertisementAzharuddin said that Gill should be given time and support and quick criticism of players should be stopped. 'This is his just first match as a captain, you just can't talk about captaincy. It's too early to talk about captaincy,' said Azharuddin.'We should give him a fair chance and he has just taken over. So, you should give him a lot of time and support. We cannot just complain and criticise players like that.'Azharuddin commented on the upcoming Test in Edgbaston and said that India will need to be smart with their combinations and the bowling has to be perfect. 'We lost because of batting collapse, but anyways now they have to pick the right players and bowling has to be perfect,' said Azharuddin.'India too dependent on Bumrah'advertisementAzharuddin said that it seemed like India were too dependent on Jasprit Bumrah to produce magic during the first Test loss. Bumrah picked up five wickets in the first innings before England were able to nullify him in the second one and secure the win. Azharuddin further stated that India need more experienced bowlers and should consider playing Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test. 'They are too much dependent on Bumrah. It's not easy because you need more experienced bowlers, and they should play Kuldeep Yadav,' said Azharuddin. India and England will square off in the second Test on July 2. - EndsTune InMust Watch

Will I ever play again? Rishabh Pant's surgeon recalls rehab process after accident
Rishabh Pant's surgeon, Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala recollected the rehabilitation made by the Indian wicketkeeper as he made a full recovery after being involved in a car accident. Pant was involved in the horrific incident in December 2022 while he was heading to his hometown from Delhi as his car hit a divider, leaving the wicketkeeper in a critical had his right knee dislocated along with many other injuries, which saw him be out of the game for around 16 months. Speaking to the Telegraph, Pardiwala said that Pant was extremely lucky to be alive and not lose the blood flow to his right leg, given the injuries he be in an accident like this, where the car actually overturns and blows up, the risk of death is extremely high," said Pardiwala "When your knee dislocates, and all the ligaments break, there's a high possibility of the nerve or the main blood vessel also being injured. If the blood vessel gets injured, you typically have about four to six hours to restore the blood supply."Otherwise, there's a risk of losing your limb. The fact that his blood vessel wasn't injured despite having a severe high-velocity knee dislocation was extremely lucky," said Pardiwala.'Am I ever going to play again?'Pardiwala said that the first question Pant had when he came to the hospital was,"Am I ever going to be able to play again?"The surgeon said that Pant needed a full reconstruction of the right knee given the extent of the injuries he had a lengthy discussion about the fact that these are grievous injuries – we would need to reconstruct the entire knee. Once we reconstruct the entire knee, we're going to have to then work through a whole process of letting it heal, letting it recover, then get back the basic functions – the range, the strength and the stability," said Pant was making progress after the surgery, Dr. Pardiwala was sceptical of his chances of making a comeback to the field. The surgeon said that he was keeping things straightforward with Pant and to take it one step at a time."Typically, when we reconstruct these patients they are happy just to get back to normal life. If they can walk and do some minimal amount of recreational sports, they're happy. I said: 'We can certainly make sure that he walks again. I'm going to try my best to make sure that we can get him back to playing again.' We didn't really want to offer him too much initially, but we did want to give him hope. So I said: 'We'll break it down into steps.' Step one, of course, has to be the surgery."'When we discussed it just after the surgery, the way I told him is the fact you're alive, the fact that your limbs survived – that's two miracles down. If we get you back to competitive cricket, that's going to be a third miracle. Let's just hope for everything, and then take it a step at a time," said magical return to the fieldadvertisementPant made his return to the cricket field in IPL 2024 and scored 446 runs in 13 matches. This earned him a call-up to India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad, which went on to win the title. Pant also made a fantastic return to the Test arena, where he became India's new vice-captain ahead of the England the first Test, Pant became only the second wicketkeeper to score twin centuries in a single game.- EndsMust Watch

India Thrash Timor-Leste 4-0 In AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers
Last Updated: India beat Timor-Leste 4-0 in the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. Manisha Kalyan scored twice, with Anju Tamang and Lynda Kom Serto also netted one each. The Indian women's football team continued their impressive run in the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers with a decisive 4-0 victory against Timor-Leste at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai on Sunday, June 29. Winger Manisha Kalyan (12', 80') scored an outstanding brace, while Anju Tamang (58') and Lynda Kom Serto (86') added their names to the scoresheet in a one-sided match that saw India dominate throughout. With this win, India now leads Group B with six points from two games, ahead of Iraq and Thailand, who are set to face each other later in the day. The top spot in the five-team group is still open, but India has made a strong case with their consecutive dominant performances. Having come off a record-breaking 13-0 win over Mongolia in their opening match, India entered this game full of confidence. From the outset, India continued their high-pressure game, creating opportunities with slick passing and energetic wing play. The first chance came as early as the sixth minute when Tamang latched onto a through ball, but Timor-Leste goalkeeper Gorette Da Costa did well to deny her at the near post. The breakthrough came soon after in the 12th minute. A neat one-two between Manisha and Tamang unlocked the left side of Timor-Leste's defence. Tamang released Manisha with a perfectly weighted pass, and she showcased blistering pace to beat her marker before cutting inside and firing a powerful left-footed shot into the net. The early goal gave India firm control of the match. The Blue Tigresses dictated the tempo with ease, dominating possession and constantly probing for openings. Pyari Xaxa nearly made it 2-0 in the 17th minute, but her curling shot hit the woodwork. Moments later, Soumya Guguloth tested Da Costa again, who stood firm despite the relentless Indian pressure. Timor-Leste offered very little in attack and chose to sit deep to absorb India's threats. Their conservative approach did not disrupt India's rhythm, and the first half ended with India in complete control, though with just one goal. India resumed the second half with renewed intent. Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when Sanju's teasing cross from the left caused chaos in the Timor-Leste box. Goalkeeper Da Costa misjudged the flight, and Tamang capitalised, tapping in from close range to double India's lead. Manisha then produced a moment of brilliance in the 80th minute. Tamang, who had been involved in much of India's attack, delivered a clever pass to the edge of the box. Manisha took one touch before blasting a thunderous shot past Da Costa to make it 3-0 and essentially secure the victory. India's fourth goal was a textbook example of fluid team play. In the 86th minute, substitutes Lynda Kom and Grace Dangmei combined beautifully in midfield to split the Timor-Leste defence. Grace drove into the box, drew defenders towards her, and unselfishly squared the ball to Lynda, who calmly slotted home with time and space. The final whistle brought scenes of delight on the Indian bench, as the team registered another clean sheet and extended their goal tally to 17 in just two matches. First Published:
