Newport pub The Tickled Trout is city's best kept secret
The pair took over the pub not too long ago, turning it from a tired Spanish tapas bar to somewhere that you can take part in a leisurely lunch, a drink over a boardgame, or even a 'Taylor Swift cake decorating class' – I'm promised that these themed classes are extremely popular and not as strange as they sound at first.
Poppy and Lesley have turned the Tickled Trout into a place for everyone (Image: Supplied) It has a cozy atmosphere and the welcome from the staff on duty is incomparable – it feels like they truly care about this venue and want customers to care too.
Strictly speaking, The Tickled Trout is not a really a pub - it's in the no-man's land between restaurant and bar, but this doesn't bother them one bit.
The people are Newport are beginning to love the Tickled Trout, as are customers from further afield. Poppy and Lesley detail how just last week they had a customer travel to visit all the way from Oxford, and they couldn't speak highly enough of the relaxed and cosy atmosphere of the pub.
With five separate food menus to choose from, there is something on offer for everyone. The Tickled Trout has aimed to redefine traditional Spanish tapas to include flavours from across the globe, changing customers' perceptions on what they already know of the small dish options.

It creates an inclusive dining experience and ensures that everyone is catered for with no risk.
Lesley said: 'We get a lot of praise for our vegan menu.
'We get the ingredients in fresh every day, and our chefs create the dishes from scratch. Rather than buy pre-made sauce mixes, all our aioli's and anything else we use and serve is made from scratch.'

Poppy laughs: 'We get everyone in for bottomless brunch, from the 18-year-olds who drink actual cocktails to the older ladies who usually prefer a glass of prosecco.'
Lesley said: 'People usually go to a bottomless brunch and expect either good food, or good cocktails. We're proud that with us you get both.'

Love Island fans convinced they've worked out Harry's ‘secret gameplan'
It comes after Harry pulled Shakira aside for a chat Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island fans are sure they've worked out Harry's tactics as he seems to cool on Helena. Things heated up in the Spanish villa on the ITV2 reality dating show during a secret snogging challenge and then fans watched as Harry pulled Shakira over for a chat, despite being coupled up with Helena. "Anyone else getting the vibe that some of these islanders are the long game?" wrote one curious fan on Reddit. "Maybe they want a connection and the prize money, but I swear knowing All Stars is coming up feels like it actually benefits them to just mess around more. Why bother with serious commitment when you know you might get another shot at fame anyway?" Another fan replied saying they believed this was exactly Harry's strategy. "This is Harry entire gameplay, he's not serious about any girl, he just want to be known as a menace and get on All Stars," they replied. Another person added: "Exactly! Even if they don't win, they'll get much more money and fame staying as a couple with deals etc for a while until it no longer serves them and then they'll break up once they've reached a certain level. Lots of previous couples have done this." And a third wrote: "It's sadly becoming more common I think. People have seen what it's done for people's success in terms of followers, brand deals etc. so use it as a way to gain those perks rather than love. However, the show has been a bit more unsuccessful the past few seasons and I think the audience have started to see through the schemes." Fans watched during Sunday night's episode how Harry admitted his exes, Emma and Shakira kissed better than Helena, after snogging them both in the secret challenge. The lads were blindfolded and wearing headphones, while the girls made their way down the line and smooched each of them in turn. After enjoying kisses with all the girls, Harry scored Helena an eight, but gave Emma an 8.5 and Shakira a 9. Watch Love Island Helena's fuming reaction as Harry rates ex Emma's kiss better than hers in saucy challenge During Helena's kiss with Harry, she wrapped her hand around his neck as a signal to him that it was her. When it came to describing their kiss, Harry said: "A familiar one for me, I've had the hand around the neck before, as for the kiss itself an eight out of ten." Speaking in the Beach Hut, a disappointed Helena said: "Harry scored me an eight, I'm trying to work out if he didn't realise it was me, but I don't know how he wouldn't realise that was me." Emma then worked her way down the line-up during her turn. Harry described the kiss: "She grabbed the bum cheeks straight away, I've got a little spring in my step back and slowed things down on the kissing front which I'm a big fan of."

Marcus Rashford's journey to Barcelona almost scuppered by OASIS ahead of transfer
Marcus Rashford has touched down in Barcelona to complete a medical ahead of his season-long loan move to the La Liga champions, but the journey wasn't straightforward Oasis nearly scuppered Marcus Rashford's masterplan as he attempted to travel to Barcelona and complete his hotly-anticipated transfer move. Rashford, 27, is leaving Manchester United on a season-long loan after he was made part of the Red Devils' five-man bomb squad. The England international will join Barca on a temporary basis before a £26million option to buy becomes active next summer. Just before 9pm on Sunday, Rashford's private jet landed in Barcelona. But the United wantaway and his representatives had hassle getting up in the sky. Rashford had planned to take a private jet from Manchester but ended up having to travel to East Midlands Airport. That's because all of the slots at Manchester Airport's private terminal were full thanks to Oasis and their rabid fans, according to the Sun. The reunited rockers played their final homecoming gig at Heaton Park on Sunday. While match-going Manchester City fan and legendary guitarist Noel Gallagher travelled by train, his City-supporting brother and lead singer Liam flew via private jet from his home in the south of France. Celebrities have also flown in from around the world to watch Oasis perform 16 years after the brothers' explosive split which contributed to a packed Manchester terminal. A source said: "Marcus' travel plans were disrupted so it was all a bit stressful but he would have walked to Barcelona to sign for them. Noel and Liam can have a laugh that they accidentally put a spanner in the works." Upon finally landing in Barcelona, Rashford was filmed getting into a car taking him to a hotel, where he'll sleep before having a medical on Monday. The 27-year-old didn't offer any words, but he gave a smile and a thumbs-up to journalists and supporters who were welcoming him. Rashford identified Barca as his dream move after being told that he had no future under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Last month, the forward was asked by Spanish YouTube channel XBuyer whether he wants to play with Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal in the future, and his response was telling. "Yeah, sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best," Rashford replied. "So hopefully, we'll see." Rashford added: "Spain is nice, it's not too far from home. If I'm training over a long period, my family can come for a few days, it's a nice location and good weather." Liam is believed to have had a private jet on standby at the airport to take him to his home in the south of France after the band's final gig at Manchester's Heaton Park. Rashford, 27, and his team of advisors were instead forced to drive 80 miles to East Midlands airport instead. The player was then delayed an hour before boarding a private jet which was due to land shortly after 8pm on Sunday. The deal does not allow United to recall the striker. United will save £15million in wages, which would be vital funds for Amorim to overhaul his squad. Rashford hopes to travel with Barcelona when the Spanish club departs this week for its pre-season tour of Asia, which begins next Sunday. The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa after a move to Spain became too complicated in the January window. He has remained steadfast that he wanted to move to a club playing Champions League football. Should the move go to plan and Rashford seal a permanent move next summer, it would end his 20-year association with United. The United academy product scored 138 goals since his debut in 2015 and has made 426 appearances for the club, the last of which came against Viktoria Plzen in December.
