‘I warned this chap,' Carl Niehaus laughs at Mzwanele Manyi's axing

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Carl Niehaus has fired shots at his former comrade, the axed MK Party chief whip, Mzwanele Manyi, calling him an opportunist, and warning that instability and ideological decay will continue to plague the party's ranks.
In a social media comment on IOL's report, Niehaus laughed off Manyi's dismissal, stating that more should be expected.
Niehaus said: 'LOL, I warned this chap. Anyhow he - and the other opportunists like him - made their bed of thorns, now let them sleep on it.
'Mark my words: the musical chairs will continue there in the merry-go-round party, there is no ideological centre that holds.'
Manyi has been dismissed from his position in parliament, IOL reported on Tuesday morning.
Colleen Makhubele has been appointed as the new Chief Whip of MKP.

The announcement began circulating on MK Party WhatsApp groups but has now been confirmed to IOL by the MK Party's Deputy Chief Whip, Muzi Ntshingila.
The WhatsApp message reads: "Please be informed that Hon. Mzwanele Manyi has been relieved of his duties as Chief Whip with immediate effect. We thank him for his service and dedication to the MK Party and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
"We are pleased to announce that Hon. Colleen Makhubele has been appointed as the new Chief Whip of the MK Party. We are confident that she will lead with strength and vision as we continue to advance our collective mission".
One senior party official told IOL that his arrogance finally caused him to fall on his sword.
'He fails to listen and protect his caucus and wants to shine in the media alone and not give anyone a chance,' the party official said.
According to Niehaus, such acts will be carried out through the same process.

National Dialogue will be meaningless without honest leaders, warns Mbeki
The National Dialogue, which will be held in three weeks, aims to foster national unity and develop shared solutions to South Africa's pressing challenges. As South Africa prepares for the National Dialogue, with an estimated price tag of R700-million, former President Thabo Mbeki warned that without capable leadership, the process risked being meaningless. 'What will come out of that National Dialogue will need honest, capable hands with integrity to implement what people have said,' said Mbeki. He was giving a keynote address at UDM leader Bantu Holomisa's 70th birthday celebration in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Saturday night. In recent years, Mbeki has been critical of the ANC, speaking about what he refers to as a decline in ethical leadership and the growing problem of corruption in the party. On Saturday, however, he toned the criticism down, saying that although he had views about ANC leaders, he was not free to mention them by name. He admitted that he, too, was part of the broader problem and anticipated that this would come up during the dialogue. 'They [South Africans] will say uncomfortable truths about us. 'You were President, and look what a mess you have created in the country.' And this is therefore what needs to be done in order to respect the people and implement what they have discussed: you need a particular kind of leader. I am not free to talk about our leaders by name.' The National Dialogue aims to foster national unity and develop shared solutions to South Africa's pressing challenges, including failing public services, high unemployment, rising crime, corruption, food inflation and economic stagnation. It starts with a National Convention on 15 August, which will set the agenda for the broader dialogue. The dialogue has been widely criticised by political parties and ordinary citizens, some of whom have argued that these are not just topics for debate but their daily realities. They want a concrete plan to lead the country out of crisis. One of the the parties that has rejected the National Dialogue is the EFF. Addressing President Cyril Ramaphosa in Parliament two weeks ago, the party's Nontando Nolutshungu said it was not the people of South Africa who had wrecked state-owned enterprises, failed to create jobs and allowed drugs to destroy young people. She pointed to the ANC's performance in the 2024 elections. 'The people have spoken, and you don't need R700-million to repeat the message they gave you at the ballots in 2024,' said Nolutshungu. The uMkhonto Wesizwe party's John Hlophe said the ANC sought to use the National Dialogue as part of its election campaign ahead of the 2026 local government polls. 'Let me tell the people of South Africa what it really is: it is not a dialogue for them, it is an ANC election campaign funded by taxpayers' money. 'Mr Ramaphosa, you lead a broken ANC: a party with the lowest membership in decades, a party that has lost key metros, a party that has become a mere shadow of its once proud self. Branches are non-existent, communities are leaderless, and the people have lost faith,' said Hlophe. Last month, the leader of the DA, John Steenhuisen, announced that his party had withdrawn its support for the National Dialogue, citing Ramaphosa's failure to act against officials accused of corruption, some of whom were members of the Cabinet. 'It is clear that this dialogue will be nothing more than a waste of time and money to distract from the ANC's failures. This explains why President Ramaphosa and the ANC are so obsessed with it,' said Steenhuisen. 'It is an electioneering ploy, at taxpayer expense, to gloss over the serious crises that the ANC has plunged South Africa into. The dialogue also has no constitutional standing whatsoever to take or impose decisions.' Responding to the criticism, Ramaphosa said people must ask themselves: 'Do we want to break or do we want to rebuild?' The National Dialogue will be led by the Eminent Persons Group, made up of 31 prominent South Africans, including business leaders, former MPs, academics, athletes, actors, and traditional and spiritual leaders. Some of those in the group are Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, Miss South Africa 2024 Mia le Roux, the leader of the Zion Christian Church, Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane, and the award-winning actor John Kani. Malema sings 'Kill The Boer' at EFF's 12th birthday celebration
Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julius Malema has done it again by performing the controversial struggle song, Kill The Boer , at the party's 12th birthday celebration. The outspoken politician has been widely criticised for choosing to sing the song, despite it being cleared as freedom of speech. In May, US President Donald Trump publicly condemned the song's 'call to action'. Pretoria-born billionaire businessman Elon Musk and UK media personality Piers Morgan have also criticised the 'racist' lyrics of the song. Over the weekend, the EFF celebrated its 12th birthday with an event in Cape Town. Unlike its grand 2023 anniversary celebration that took place at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, the party erected a makeshift stage at the Khayelitsha Rugby Stadium. The celebration was not complete without leader Julius Malema performing Kill The Boer. Malema has repeatedly claimed that he would continue to sing Kill The Boer at public gatherings. He said in a media conference in May: 'There are courts in South Africa, and the courts have said, there is nothing wrong with this song. This is not my song; I did not compose this song. I found this song. The struggle heroes composed this song. All I am doing is defending the legacy of a struggle; this is the heritage of our struggle. 'I will never stop singing a song that Winnie Mandela sang before she died. That would be a betrayal to the struggle of our people'. Kill The Boer – titled Dubul' ibhunu – made headlines when anti-Apartheid activist Peter Mokaba sang the song at a memorial for his assassinated comrade, Peter Mokaba, in 1993. It was also sung by former South African President Jacob Zuma during many ANC events. Investigation reveals National Police Commissioner Masemola's questionable financial dealings
An investigation reveals that National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola lives beyond his means. Image: Picture: Siyabulela Duda/GCIS Following allegations that a warrant of arrest was issued against the police national commissioner, Fannie Masemola, it has been established that the country's police boss is living beyond his means. During his media briefing on Thursday, EFF leader Julius Malema revealed that Masemola would be arrested for conspiring with Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo, who was recently arrested for corruption and fraud. An investigation revealed that Masemola spends more than he earns. Masemola, who allegedly received kickbacks related to intelligence property deals, has the monthly installments of R68,388.00 while he earns R58,052.11. His monthly salary is R129,996.87 and his deductions amount to R71,914.76. This is according to an investigation by the founder of Forensics for Justice, Paul O'Sullivan, who also found that Masemola owns five properties. Video Player is loading. The property in Bloemfontein is worth R380,000 and was purchased in 2016. The properties in Pretoria are valued at R165,000 and R1,500,000, respectively. The other one was purchased in 1996 and the other one in 2011. The properties in Pietermaritzburg were bought in 2002 and 2005. The other one is valued at R153,000 and the other one is R445,000. The investigation also revealed that in 2019, Masemola took a personal loan amounting to R200,000.00 from Nedbank and was repaid within seven months. Records indicate that in order to pay off that loan, he took another loan in the amount of R238,000.00. 'Back-to-back loans are generally seen as Red Flags. Subject (Masemola) is shown as being currently 9 months in arrears in revolving credit with Standard Bank. Enquiries should be made with the accounting services of the police to ascertain what debt has been incurred between the government and the subject, which results in substantial deductions from the subject's salary each month,' read the report. Masemola did not respond to calls and messages regarding comments on the allegations. National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said she cannot comment on Masemola's private affairs and his monthly expenditure. 'But it's a norm that every year, all government officials disclose their assets and other financial interests through the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) financial disclosure system,' she said. DPSA spokesperson Moses Mushi said the financial disclosures made in terms of the Public Administration Management Act, 2014, by the National Commissioner: SAPS, fall within the category of a record held by a public body to which access could only be obtained in terms of PAIA, and in the absence of such a request in terms of PAIA, the sharing of such information will be contrary to the provisions of PAIA. O'Sullivan said he even warned President Cyril Ramaphosa not to appoint Masemola as the national commissioner, saying he was unfit to hold the position. Masemola was appointed in March 2022. O'Sullivan said Masemola's appointment brought the country backwards to a point where he rendered the police service useless. He previously alleged that Masemola and Khumalo received kickbacks from the property deals, which include a boutique hotel in Pretoria North, reportedly purchased for R22.7-million, and a commercial building in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, valued at R22.8-million. Malema, on Thursday, said the recent briefing held by KZN police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who blew the whistle about infiltration within law enforcement, caused the postponement of Masemola's alleged arrest. He also alluded to political interference in relation to this matter. 'I do not know why he is not being picked up. It means someone somewhere is playing politics, and they want to undermine, once more, the independence of our justice system,' Malema said. 'Masemola is being arrested for what he did with Khumalo in crime intelligence. He was supposed to be arrested that week when Mkhwanazi had a press conference. 'So, I thought that Mkhwanazi's briefing was a pre-emptive strategy, and perhaps the arrest of Masemola is delayed by that,' Malema said. However, Mathe said the SAPS was not aware of any warrant of arrest against Masemola, adding that questions should be directed to Malema. 'He may be in a better position to respond with more information,' she said. KZN police spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda, said Mkhwanazi is not responding to any issues pertaining to his press conference or related matters. O'Sullivan, who previously also called for the suspension of both Masemola and Mkhanazi, said he was of the opinion that if there could be a warrant of arrest, it should be for both Masemola and Mkhwanazi, adding that they have both been engaged for a considerable time, in criminal activities, and actively support criminals themselves, to wit, the Five Generals and Two Brigadiers, that should have been dismissed already, but are continuing to commit crime whilst in the police.
