Leviste divesting shares in SPNEC
In a statement, SPNEC said Leviste has entered into agreements to divest most of his shares in the company.
The lawmaker-elect, in particular, has signed an agreement to sell 5.01 billion SPNEC shares for P6.26 billion to Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen), on top of a previous agreement to sell 5.82 billion shares for P7.50 billion.
Under the agreements, MGen has already paid Leviste P13.76 billion, while the transfer of the 10.83 billion shares is expected soon, according to SPNEC.
The company added that MGen has also previously purchased 3.77 billion shares from Leviste for P4.50 billion.
In total, the Leviste-led company has agreed to sell a total of 14.60 billion shares to MGen for P18.26 billion.
Moreover, in 2023, Leviste sold 1.84 billion SPNEC shares to public shareholders for P2.23 billion.
The congressman-elect has divested 16.44 billion shares for P20.49 billion.
After the transactions, SPNEC said Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings Inc. would still own 8.16 billion shares of the company.
The company said Leviste is also considering options for other private placements and financing on the remaining SPNEC shares of Solar Philippines and affiliates, 'which would bring the total funding raised from the SPNEC shares of Solar Philippines and affiliates to over P34 billion.'
Leviste founded Solar Philippines in 2013 to accelerate the development of solar energy in the Philippines.
Solar Philippines completed Luzon's largest solar farm in Batangas and began developing SPNEC's Nueva Ecija solar farm in 2016, and began operating its Tarlac solar farm in 2019.
In 2021, SPNEC became the first-ever solar company to IPO in the Philippines, with Leviste becoming the youngest chairman and CEO in the history of the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Leviste, son of Senator Loren Legarda, was elected representative of the 1st District of Batangas on May 12, 2025 with 268,764 votes. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA Integrated News

Metro Pacific agribiz unit acquires coconut processor Franklin Baker
Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), through its wholly owned subsidiary Metro Pacific Agro Ventures (MPAV), is acquiring 103-year-old coconut products maker Franklin Baker Group of Companies. In a news release on Thursday, MPIC announced MPAV had entered into agreements to acquire Franklin Baker, marking its agribusiness unit's 'major expansion' and reinforcing its position as the leading player in the Philippines' food-grade coconut export industry. Franklin Baker, founded in 1921, is one of the Philippines' most established coconut processors, with manufacturing facilities in Laguna and Davao. It supplies a broad range of value-added coconut products—including desiccated coconut, coconut water, virgin coconut oil, and coconut cream—to over 50 countries. According to MPIC, the transaction will provide Franklin Baker with the capital and strategic support needed to stabilize its operations, clear pending export backlogs, return to a path of sustainable growth, safeguard the livelihoods of over 5,000 workers, and maintain a reliable market for more than 50,000 coconut farmers across the country. The Pangilinan-led conglomerate said the acquisition builds on MPAV's earlier investment in Axelum Resources Corporation, a leading exporter of food-grade coconut products known for its ability to meet the highest global standards for food safety, traceability, and quality assurance. 'Coconut is one of the Philippines' most important and iconic crops—something we should be proud of. With Franklin Baker and Axelum, we now have the opportunity to scale a globally competitive coconut platform—one that brings together world-class processing, long-standing customer relationships, and strong ties to our farming communities,' said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman and CEO of MPIC. MPIC said MPAV's agribusiness platform includes investments in coconut through Franklin Baker and Axelum; dairy through Carmen's Best and Bukidnon Milk Company; and fruit/vegetable production through Metro Pacific Fresh Farms. —VBL, GMA Integrated News

Cebu Pacific becomes PH's first carrier with 100-strong fleet
Gokongwei-led budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Friday announced its latest historic milestone as it becomes the first local carrier to operate a 100-strong fleet after receiving the delivery of its latest aircraft — a brand new A330neo. 'Reaching 100 aircraft is more than a milestone — it reflects our unwavering commitment to make air travel accessible to more Filipinos,' said Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer. 'With a larger fleet, we're able to operate more efficiently, enhance connectivity across the country and the region, and pass on the benefits of scale through even lower fares,' said Lao. The airline's 100-aircraft milestone came amidst increasing demand for air travel. In June alone, Cebu Pacific said it flew a total of 2.2 million passengers, up 7.9% from the same month last year. From January to June 2025, the airline said it has flown 13.9 million passengers, up 21% from 11.5 million in the first half of 2024. Cebu Pacific said the latest A330neo aircraft is also the 12th aircraft of its kind to join its fleet, reinforcing the airline's position as the largest A330neo operator in the Asia-Pacific. The 459-seater aircraft, which arrived in Manila from Airbus' facility in Toulouse, France, is the second of four A330neos expected to join Cebu Pacific's fleet this year — the first of which arrived on March 28. The airline is expecting a total of seven aircraft to be delivered in 2025. Cebu Pacific's fleet is diversified with a mix of 12 Airbus A330s, 40 Airbus A320s, 26 Airbus A321s, and 22 ATR turboprop aircraft. —LDF, GMA Integrated News

Net interest income climbed 16.2% to P71.2 billion, while non-interest income rose 7.4% to P21.4 billion led by credit cards, insurance, and wealth management.
