INSIDE MAIL – KEMBLA
BELLA MONTAGNA (5) makes her Australian debut. Placed runner-up in three of her five starts including the Group 2 Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes at Ellerslie on Jan 1. Led all-the-way to win her Apr 14 Randwick trial. COVERT THINKING (6) was squeezed out the back at the start on debut. Raced closer when a half-length second to Elivina over 1500m at Newcastle last start. REVERBERATES (9) was handy third to Impressionism when resuming at Newcastle on Apr 26.
NOBLE RUBY (11) is knocking on the door for her first win. Placed four of eight including three of her last four. Was beaten a neck here first-up and just caught late last start. FIREPOP (8) is a first starter by Shalaa from a half-sister to Ortensia. Jumped well and lead all-the-way to beat My Shareena in her Apr 29 Warwick Farm trial on a heavy track. Her stablemate CITY GOLD FIELD (1) is also on debut. By Deep Field, he is from a half-sister to Group 3 Ducasse. Has been good in finishing second in both trials.
KING'S SECRET (2), who races in the same colours as his half-brother Private Eye, debuted with placings behind Benzou and Shangri La Spring. He resumed with a nice win from Justice Warrior over 1100m on a Soft track at Gosford. INOUE (1) placed at his first two starts in the spring. Also kicked off this campaign with a win at Gosford when he beat Poiema in a 1000m Super Maiden on a soft track. RUNRANIRUN (6) resumed with a safely held second to Flame Of Hestia at Newcastle. Didn't handle the firm track at Albury last start.
BOHEMIAN ART (8) was backed from $4.40 into $2.60 on debut after some nice trials. Sat outside Impressionism and fought on well to finish long head second at Newcastle on Apr 26. Will take plenty of improvement from the run. MONTE VEEBEE (4) has been runner-up in five of his eight starts including both runs this campaign. Went down as a short-priced favourite at Albury last start. Blinkers off and winkers go on. PROCLIVITY (5) was a handy second to Caltsar on debut at Newcastle after being inconvenienced near the 400m.
RACE 5: Aib/ara Building Services Mdn Hcp 1200m
MAID OF MOOLAH (4) debuted with a handy neck second to Nymphadora in an 1100m Hawkesbury Super Maiden on April 5. Tracked the leader and bumped by eventual winner Silver Wedding when fourth at Canterbury second-up. PRINCE HARRISON (1) was third in his first two starts at Hawkesbury and Beaumont before heading to the Kensington on Jan 15 when a nose second to the promising Mailata. Took an inside run and arced away to a four length win in his Apr 17 Warwick Farm trial. CAPTAIN EAGLE (2) has claims on his close first-up second at Wyong.
RACE 6: Civona Skincare (Bm64) 1200m
LYLES (5) drove through from gate one to track the leader and boxed on well for third to Media World when resuming at Warwick Farm. Media World came out and won the Hawkesbury Guineas last weekend. Lyles is a second-up winner here. POWER BALLARD (3) hasn't won for over 15 months but did beat Stefi Magnetica comfortably that day. Nice win in her recent Rosehill trial. MERCANTILIST (9) was very good winning at Gosford on debut. Drawn the outside so may wait for another day but a huge chance if she starts.
HYPERBOLIC (6) hard to beat but likely goes to Gosford. INVADE AND CONQUER (3) took control in front and raced away to a near four length win from Cashburn over this track and distance three starts back. Raced keenly when caught wide at Hawkesbury then outside the leader when fourth to Sizzler last start. Gets a 3kg claim and can bounce back. PRESIDES (2) kicked back to win at Newcastle before a second to Sizzler and a third to Flying Embers here. MISS HVAR (8) made a late start to her career but it was worth the wait with a strong closing win from Kuwait over 1300m here.
ELIVINA (9) debuted with a nice third to Tact here on Apr 15 before a tough win from Covert Thinking in a 1500m Newcastle Super Maiden. Up to the mile and bred to get further. HOOLIGAN TOMMY (3) will appreciate the drop in grade from a Randwick Midway last start. Won well at Goulburn and came from a long way back when second at Hawkesbury before that. FAST TRACK (10) has claims on his debut win here.

Des Hasler's wild post-game spray vindicated as Titans grab shock win in coach's milestone match
Not much has gone right for Titans coach Des Hasler in 2025, but his decision to spray his troops not once but twice after an embarrassing defeat to the Tigers last week has paid off. Hasler was left seething after last week's loss, and his frustration boiled over in a fiery locker room moment that was captured on camera. FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every game of every round in the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership, LIVE with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1. As Hasler entered the rooms to address his playing group, he was left infuriated by the sounds of the showers running. The 64-year-old exploded into a fit of rage as he shouted at the players in the showers, forcing them to walk out and sit with the playing group. According to Code Sports, Hasler's on-camera outburst was actually his second spray because the Titans players didn't respond sufficiently to his initial post-game spray. 'Des was furious,' an anonymous player agent said. However, it did the trick, with his Gold Coast team producing an inspired performance in Hasler's 500th game to stun the Warriors in New Zealand. The Titans found themselves down 10-0 after just 11 minutes, but instead of rolling over like they have time and time again this year, they responded by turning the blowtorch on the Warriors. They held off a rampant New Zealand side late to score a memorable eight-point win. Hasler, who is widely tipped to retire at the end of the season, has never won the wooden spoon in his decorated 20-year coaching career. And Sunday's 24-16 upset victory in Auckland has given him a good chance of avoiding that in what is likely his final ever coaching stint. The 64-year-old's first season as an NRL head coach was in 2004, and over the next two decades, he guided clubs (Sea Eagles and Bulldogs) to four grand finals and two premierships. Against the Warriors, he became just the sixth coach in history to oversee 500 first-grade games, behind Wayne Bennett (956*), Tim Sheens (693), Brian Smith (601), Craig Bellamy (594*) and Ricky Stuart (534*). The upset victory in Auckland also dragged the Titans off the bottom of the ladder as they leapfrogged Bennett's Rabbitohs. Meanwhile, the Warriors are stuttering at the wrong end of the season, and coach Andrew Webster admits there is plenty to fix before finals. The Kiwis got out of jail last week with a miraculous last-second try to beat the Knights, but that victory only temporarily masked their problems, which were again on display against the Titans. Webster said none of his players were celebrating on the team bus last week, and despite knowing they needed to seriously improve at home, they couldn't get the job done against the bottom-placed Titans. 'We just weren't good enough; it has nothing to do with where they sit on the table. We knew if they played good football, what they could offer,' Webster said. 'We just weren't the way we wanted to be, and that's always frustrating. They were at their best and we weren't, and that's what happens in the NRL, you get beaten. 'We need to get back to how we want to play and just have confidence and belief in each other. 'We need to make sure it's a hard day for the opposition when they come here.'

Apprentice Rochelle Milnes stars with four winners to secure Adelaide jockeys' premiership at Morphettville
A rain-soaked Morphettville was shrouded in gloom on Saturday, but Rochelle Milnes shone brightly. The star apprentice nailed a remarkable four winners, including the Lightning Stakes, as she secured the Adelaide jockeys' premiership on the final day of the metro season. Milnes, 23, scored wins aboard Sav On Ice, Big Sue and Silent Emmy, completing her masterpiece with a brilliant come-from-behind victory aboard Cicala in the Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) – nailing Victorian raider Fieldello on the line. It was a third Lightning Stakes win for trainer Will Clarken, and first for co-trainer Niki O'Shea, and proved the icing on the cake for Milnes, who announced herself as a rising star of Australian racing. 'I gave her (Cicala) a pat, I didn't even know if I'd won or not, I'm just so proud of this horse,' Milnes said. 'I have a really high opinion of her, she's just so level-headed, I think she's terrific – what a fairytale.' Milnes enjoyed a midweek break in Darwin, returning to Adelaide to dominate Morphettville's nine-race card, which saw her finish with 48 city wins in her first full season at metro level. Lightning Stakes | Cicala It's a red letter day for Rochelle Milnes as she caps off her impeccable day, taking out the last feature race of the season aboard Cicala âš¡ï¸ðŸ' ðŸ'° Ch. 78/68, Foxtel 529, Kayo or via our app REPLAYS: — (@Racing) July 26, 2025 'I went for a quick freshen-up in Darwin, I think the sun got to me but I grew a new leg, it's just what I needed,' she said. 'It just started petering out late, it's really nice to get back on the board and have an incredible day – I'm so blessed with the support.' Milnes finished eight wins ahead of premiership rivals Lachlan Neindorf and Taylor Johnstone (40 apiece). Johnstone saluted aboard gun sprinter Lingani in race two, while Neindorf's faint premiership hopes were cruelled early with four of his mounts scratched due to Heavy track conditions. 'I appreciate all the support I've had, I didn't wish upon Lachy to have all those scratchings, and obviously Taylor just came out and rode a beautiful ride (Lingani),' Milnes said after winning aboard Sav On Ice. 'It's just the luck on the day I guess when it comes down to the line, but I'm really thankful for the support and especially with this horse – he's come on again.' Milnes' four-timer was a career-best day in the saddle at headquarters, and sits alongside her win in the Adelaide Cup aboard Silent Surrente, and back-to-back Port Lincoln Cup wins on I Need A Drink as highlights of the 2024-25 season. Rain inundated Morphettville throughout the afternoon with a Heavy 9 track later downgraded to a Heavy 10. Lingani, who won last year's Lightning Stakes, relished it, giving her rivals a thrashing in an Open Handicap (1050m). The speedy mare bounced back to form under a smart steer from Taylor Johnstone, who kept her handy in third, breezing past frontrunner The Gov inside the final 200m. Lingani powered to a remarkable seven-length win, making it three from three on heavy going, as trainers Peter and Belinda Blanch set her for the Group 3 Behemoth Stakes (1200m) on August 9. Sav On Ice, produced a dominant 8½-length win to land Milnes' her first winner. The Darryl Carrison-trained colt did it easy despite covering extra ground from barrier 11. Phillip Stokes nailed the Adelaide trainers' premiership with 44 wins, the Group 1-winning handler had two runners at Morphettville, for a second with Brave Star. Talented apprentice Matthew Chadwick nailed a double on the card, with wins aboard Delightful Shecky and Solar Mist in the final event.

Angela Jones suspended at Doomben but still in box seat to claim Brisbane jockeys' premiership
Angela Jones copped a 13-day suspension and a severe reprimand from stewards on a dramatic Saturday at a wet Doomben but she's still in prime position to take out the Brisbane metro jockeys' premiership. Jones extended her lead to two victories over apprentice Emily Lang (64 wins) in the premiership race before a lightning storm brought a delay to proceedings after four races. At that stage Jones had already steered home a winner, gelding Space Age in a Benchmark 85 over 1615m, to inch closer to becoming the first woman to secure a Brisbane metro jockeys' crown. However, it wasn't all plain sailing for Jones, who copped a pair of riding suspensions and a severe reprimand from stewards from incidents in the opening race. Jones drew the ire of stewards for her ride on Tony Gollan's $2.20 favourite Boomshanka, being charged twice for careless riding. But her 13-day suspension won't impact her prospects of scoring the riding premiership, given she has deferred the ban to start after next Saturday's Eagle Farm meeting, which forms part of the new racing season from August 1. Chief steward Josh Adams told Jones: 'We don't want to sour what should be an exciting time for you. 'But out of one race, we have suspended you twice and also reprimanded you.' Space Age for Ange! She gets back out to a two win lead over Emily Lang in the Brisbane Jockeys Premiership, will she hold on? 😅😅 @cmaherracing â€' 7HorseRacing ðŸŽ (@7horseracing) July 26, 2025 Lang and Jones playfully donned boxing gloves for a photo shoot during the storm delay, but the gloves will be off when the premiership title goes on the line at Doomben on Wednesday. It will be a fitting end to a thrilling battle between the close mates, who both work for Brisbane's top trainer Gollan. Whoever wins the premiership, Lang said she will always be indebted to Jones for being a shoulder to lean on in the early days of her apprenticeship. 'I looked up to Ange for a long time, she was already race riding before I had even started riding trials,' Lang said. 'She went through the grades really quickly and I looked at her and I thought that's what I aspire to be. 'Ange put the writing on the wall in her first year in town as an apprentice and, as a female jockey myself, I really looked up to her.' Racing Queensland officials opted to reschedule the final race on the card, a 3YO Handicap over 1350m, to Wednesday at Doomben, as the light faded and the track deteriorated to a Heavy 9. In that postponed race, Jones was booked to ride Estrondo for trainer Rob Heathcote and Lang was due to pilot Fireforce for Kelly Schweida. Lang was denied a chance to narrow the gap in race seven when her ride Set To Shine was a late scratching at the barriers, with Jones finishing runner-up on Castillian ($3.40) to roughie Super Duck ($21).
