Project on digitalization of school curricula launched
The event was held under the patronage of Eng. Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and was attended by Dr. Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education.
In his speech, Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary for Education, emphasized the unprecedented opportunities brought about by digital technologies to enhance the quality of education, stating:
'Education is no longer confined within the four walls of the classroom. It has become a vast space that transcends geographic boundaries and provides both students and teachers access to rich and diverse learning resources.'
He explained that the project directly empowers teachers with modern educational tools to deliver content more effectively and creatively, while offering students a flexible and comprehensive learning experience that aligns with their individual needs and abilities.
He concluded by saying that the project is an integral part of a broader vision for digital transformation in education, laying the foundation for a technology-based, future-oriented learning ecosystem.

Muscat, July 15 Efforts are being made to implement the interactive screens project in schools in the Sultanate of Oman as part of the Ministry of Education's push to promote digital transformation and utilise modern technology in education. This initiative is a key component in creating a modern and engaging digital learning environment. This step aims to activate an interactive learning environment that enhances the quality of the educational process and encourages students to learn through innovative methods. It is aligned with the national digital transformation strategy led by the Ministry of Education, which seeks to equip public schools with interactive screens and effectively integrate them into classrooms to support active learning and enhance the technical skills of both teachers and students. The distribution of interactive screens prioritises schools at the primary education level, considering factors such as school infrastructure readiness, curriculum and educational requirements, student population and educational levels. The goal is to ensure that interactive screens with standardised specifications are available in schools, making it easier for teachers to interact with them during class transitions. Dr Faisal bin Ali al Busaidy, Director-General of the Directorate General of Information Technology, stated, "In preparation for the upcoming academic year, the ministry is planning to implement various digital transformation projects, including providing interactive screens in over 5,000 classrooms at primary education schools. Additionally, the next academic year will see the launch of projects like the Noor e-learning platform for all schools, virtual science labs, digitisation of curricula, digital atlas, and other initiatives to enhance the use of information and communications technology in education." This project is anticipated to revolutionise the learning environment in schools by fostering classroom interaction, diversifying teaching methods and utilising multimedia resources to enhance lesson delivery. These efforts align with the ministry's vision for a modern and integrated digital education system. Through interactive screens, teachers will be able to deliver engaging lessons that promote deep understanding among students. Multimedia elements such as audio, video and interactive graphics will enhance classroom interaction and encourage active student participation. These screens will also support teachers in utilising innovative educational technologies, simplifying lesson preparation and diversifying teaching and assessment methods. Moreover, interactive screens will help integrate technology into curricula and develop students' creative thinking and problem-solving skills using interactive tools. They will significantly improve student engagement in the classroom, allowing them to interact with educational content directly and engagingly, thereby increasing their interest, focus and comprehension of the subject matter. This will also support blended and distance learning, reflecting the evolving educational landscape in line with the latest global advancements in educational technology.

National drive launched to equip youth with entrepreneurial skills
Muscat – In an effort to empower young Omanis with skills suited to the sultanate's economic priorities, the Youth Centre has launched a set of targeted national programmes across all governorates in partnership with Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development. Focusing on citizens aged 15 to 34, the initiative is designed to foster entrepreneurship and build sector-specific capabilities in agriculture, maritime industries, logistics, technology and traditional crafts. The rollout of these programmes reflects the government's aim to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurs who are aligned with Oman Vision 2040. Each governorate hosts programmes tailored to its local context. In agriculturally rich areas, the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Programme trains youth in modern farming techniques, agribusiness models and investment opportunities within the sector. Similarly, the Maritime Entrepreneurship Programme is being deployed in coastal governorates to encourage business ventures that tap into Oman's strategic maritime assets. In the logistics field, young participants are being introduced to key elements of supply chain operations, warehousing and e-commerce under the Logistics Entrepreneurship Programme. It also highlights the growing role of Oman as a regional logistics hub. The Entrepreneurial Technology Programme is equipping youth with the tools to convert digital skills into tech-based enterprises, covering aspects such as innovation, coding and scalability of tech solutions. The Crafts Leadership Programme focuses on helping youth in creative fields build sustainable businesses that preserve Oman's cultural heritage. Participants are trained in branding, commercial viability and market alignment. To cultivate early awareness of self-employment, a separate programme has been launched in cooperation with Ministry of Education for school students aged 15 to 17. It promotes entrepreneurship and independent thinking at a formative stage. In response to growing market demand, a Design and Packaging Programme has also been introduced. It trains youth in product design, branding and packaging based on current consumer trends and export requirements.

First-ever directory of space sector companies unveiled
MUSCAT, JULY 13 The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has launched a first-ever directory of space sector companies. The Private Sector Directory Space Sector 2024, released by the National Space Programme, contains a comprehensive list of private sector entities with the purpose of promoting local players and facilitating global partnerships. In his foreword, Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, underscored the significance of the initiative. 'The Space Directory serves as a comprehensive source, cataloguing the key entities, initiatives, and capabilities within our space sector. It is designed to be a valuable reference for stakeholders across government, industry, academia, and international partners. Our objective is to facilitate collaboration, promote the exchange of knowledge, and inspire a new generation of Omanis to take part in the space sector.' According to the Minister, the handbook profiles companies working across various fields within the space sector. 'The Sultanate of Oman has a growing number of private sector companies who are working along the space sector value chain. We are proud that we have enterprises in these domains: companies operating satellites, distributing remote sensing data, companies using satellite data to create solutions and respond to key local challenges, companies delivering world-class satellite communications services, private projects to develop the most promising sites in the world for a new commercial spaceport, and companies developing scientific and economic space zones,' he said. Furthermore, the Minister noted that the space sector still contains significant untapped potential. 'We still see many opportunities for growth in the Omani space sector. We hope this directory will inform readers about enterprises working in the Sultanate of Oman, and enable many quality connections and meaningful partnerships.' The directory lists 20 companies in Oman as of the end of 2024, including seven drone and space services and applications companies, five space-related services and consultancy companies, four satellite communication service providers, two satellite and remote sensing operators, and two launch companies (a parent and subsidiary). The private sector plays a key role in the National Space Policy and Executive Programme, which aims to boost contribution of the digital economy to the local GDP from 2% currently, to 5% by 2030 and 10% by 2040, under the umbrella of the Oman Vision 2040's National Digital Economy Plan. According to the recent data, the sector contributes 0.05% to the local GDP with a market value of $155 million as of 2021.
