UFC newcomers to battle Alonzo Menifield, Nursulton Ruziboev in Seattle
In the midst of a slew of cancellations, the promotion added two new fights Thursday for the Feb. 22 event at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
As first reported by MMA Junkie and made official by the UFC shortly thereafter, Alonzo Menifield will welcome promotional newcomer Julius Walker to the cage in a light heavyweight bout.
Additionally, Nursulton Ruziboev will move back to middleweight to battle promotional newcomer Eric McConico. That bout was first reported by MMA Mania.
Menifield (15-5-1 MMA, 8-5-1 UFC) was expected to face Oumary Sy at UFC Fight Night 255 on March 22 in London. However, Sy withdrew due to injury. Now back at Fortis MMA, Menifield aims to snap a two-fight skid.
Walker (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) rides a regional career's worth of finishes and success into his promotional debut. He is the Synergy FC and Peak Fighting ligh heavyweight champion.
Ruziboev (34-9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) returns to middleweight after his first UFC loss, a unanimous decision dropped vs. Joaquin Buckley in March 2024. The bout will come one week after his brother, Mashrabjon Ruziboev debuts Saturday at UFC Fight Night 251 vs.
McConico (9-2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was expected to headline Tuff-N-Uff 141 on Friday. An MMA Lab product, McConico has won five fights in a row.

UFC to the White House? That is the plans for the Octagon
How does UFC White House sound for a future event? Well, that is what we could be getting in 2026 if everything comes together. President Donald Trump, a close friend of UFC CEO Dana White, told people in attendance in Iowa at a rally Thursday night that he wants the Octagon on the ground of the White House next year. Advertisement MORE: Bo Nickal joins up with Hulk Hogan's wrestling promotion while remaining with the UFC "Does anybody watch UFC?" Trump said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). "The great Dana White. We're going to have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there. "Dana's going to do it. Dana's great, one of a kind. We're going to have a UFC fight, a championship fight." Trump mentioned upwards of 25,000 people in attendance for the event that would help celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the United States. Trump Proposes UFC Event in Wild Location
Trump Proposes UFC Event in Wild Location originally appeared on Athlon Sports. President Donald Trump's relationship with the UFC is well-documented. He has attended multiple events, and fighters like Conor McGregor have visited him at the White House, reinforcing the alliance between the MMA promotion and his political brand. The UFC's massive popularity, especially among younger male demographics, makes it a centerpiece for Trump and his supporters, who include the UFC's CEO and President, Dana White. Advertisement Now, Trump has floated a bold and unconventional idea to celebrate America's upcoming 250th anniversary: a UFC championship fight on the White House grounds. Donald Trump and Dana WhiteEd Mulholland-GettyImages During a speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Trump revealed his desire for a large-scale event featuring a UFC fight with up to 25,000 spectators as part of the "America250" festivities. 'Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We're going to have a UFC fight. We're going to have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,' Trump said. While the announcement energized Trump's supporters, the feasibility and appropriateness of hosting a violent combat sport on White House property were clearly not in the president's consideration. The White House has never before been used as a venue for a pay-per-view sporting event, let alone a sport with a fan base as rowdy as MMA. Advertisement Overlooked in his proclamation were the logistical hurdles, including Secret Service approvals and crowd control, that could make the plan more aspirational than practical. The UFC's involvement adds another layer of controversy. While the organization has grown into a mainstream sports powerhouse, it has also faced criticism over fighter pay, benefits, and overall dwindling quality. As of now, the proposal lacks concrete details, and the idea is likely nothing more than mere political theater. Given Trump's history of controversy, however, the possibility cannot be entirely ruled out.
