on Saturday visited Pahalgam and interacted with tourists days after a deadly terror attack, asserting that

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said the biggest message after the incident is that the tourists are 'not scared.'
'The people who wanted to spread fear have lost. They (terrorists) have lost. It has been proven today that we are not going to get scared. Kashmir was and will always be a part of India. People want terrorism to finish. It has been 35 years since we have seen terrorism; we want progress. We want to move forward.
We will become a superpower one day,' former J&K CM said.
Abdullah declined to comment on remarks made by former Pakistan foreign minister
, stating that paying attention to such statements would be counterproductive.
'If we go by Bilawal Bhutto's statements, we cannot move forward. I have been saying for a long time that the

His comments came after Bhutto acknowledged Pakistan's past involvement with terror operatives.
During the visit, Abdullah, along with NC MLA Altaf Kaloo, met Hyder Shah, the father of Syed Adil Hussain Shah -- a local resident who lost his life in the

'Farooq Abdullah shared our grief and gave us courage in our sorrow, which is helping us move forward,' Hyder Shah said.
Earlier in the day, India formally imposed an immediate ban on the import and transit of all goods originating from or exported via Pakistan, according to a notification by the ministry of commerce and industry.

The notification, issued under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, and the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, halts all bilateral trade with immediate effect.
The Centre has also suspended all in bound mail and parcels from Pakistan.
This step follows a series of measures taken by the Centre in response to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. These include shutting down the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, suspending the Saarc Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani nationals, instructing them to leave India within 40 hours, and reducing diplomatic staff in both countries' high commissions.
India has also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 as part of its broader response to the ugly attack.

American Combat Boot Alliance welcomes introduction of BOOTS Act
The American Combat Boot Alliance (ACBA) recently welcomed introduction of the Better Outfitting Our Troops (BOOTs) Act to ensure that all combat boots supplied to the US military are indigenously made in accordance with the Berry Amendment. The Berry Amendment requires the department of defense to purchase certain items, primarily clothing and food, from domestic sources. 'Over the past several years, there has been a concerning influx of poorly made, non-Berry Amendment-compliant, foreign-sourced footwear procured by United States Army and United States Air Force service members,' ACBA, a coalition comprising US manufacturers committed to the readiness and combat effectiveness of warfighters, said in a letter to Nikki Budzinski from the House of Representatives and Tammy Duckworth from the Senate. The American Combat Boot Alliance has welcomed introduction of the Better Outfitting Our Troops (BOOTs) Act to ensure that all combat boots supplied to the US military are indigenously made in accordance with the Berry Amendment. Over the past several years, there has been a concerning influx of poorly made, non-Berry Amendment-compliant, foreign-sourced footwear procured by US military staff. 'The growing reliance on foreign products has led to the further erosion within the domestic footwear industrial base that supports the warfighter, resulting in over 750,000 pair of non-US manufactured combat boots being sold to Army and Air Force personnel each year,' the letter noted. These inferior products are subject to import tariffs, leaving vendors no choice but to pass the additional costs onto service members. These increased costs may exceed retail prices of domestically manufactured combat footwear, the ACBA letter said. Military service members receive annual Congressionally-appropriated uniform allowances for non-issued uniform items. The BOOTs Act will ensure that they can effectively use their taxpayer-funded uniform allowance to purchase American-made combat footwear, the letter said. This legislation also helps secure the challenged combat footwear supply chain industrial base, diversify the selection of domestic combat boots and ensure that US companies can meet surge demands in times of crisis, it added. ACBA member entities include the American Apparel & Footwear Association, the National Council of Textile Organisations, the US Footwear Manufacturers Association and several other private manufacturers. Strict enforcement of PC & PNDT Act is vital: Collector
Anantapur: Anantapur District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V, emphasized the need for strict implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act (PC & PNDT Act). He directed officials to ensure that the Act is enforced stringently to prevent female foeticide. The District-Level Multi-Member Appropriate Authority Committee meeting on the PC & PNDT Act was held on Saturday at the Mini Conference Hall of the Anantapur Collectorate, chaired by the District Collector. On this occasion, he stated that not a single girl child should be lost before birth in the district. He highlighted that among the ten core priorities of the State government, prevention of sex determination, along with eradication of ganja and drugs, are highly significant. He termed sex determination a serious offence. He called upon the police department, voluntary organisations, the medical and health department, and the judiciary to work in coordination. He urged that any information related to illegal sex determination should be reported promptly. He instructed that awareness posters with messages like 'Let us protect girl children, let us support their growth' should be displayed in all schools and also be made visible on the district collectorate display boards. He also ordered officials to collect details of scanning centers involved in illegal sex determination in Ballari, Karnataka, and conduct decoy operations. The Intelligence Wing was directed to submit relevant reports. He strictly warned that under no circumstances should sex determination tests be conducted, and stern action would be taken against violators of the law. Among those who participated in the meeting were District Medical and Health Officer Dr E.B. Devi, RDT representative Dr Durgesh, CI Bhasha, Demo Officer Thyagaraju, Deputy HEO Gangadhar, and others.
