Save money on headphones this Prime Day — here are 3 audio deals to watch out for
Prime Day is the best time of year to bag a cut-price pair of the best headphones, and I'm here to tell you what models you should be watching out for the most.
There are a few headphones launched this year that we should be paying attention to, as well as some that are already reduced. Here are the 3 pairs you should keep a close eye on over July 8-11.
Is this cheating a bit? Using a whole brand and headphone family in a list of headphones? No. I make the rules, and I say it's not cheating. Because you should be watching out for the entirety of the XM series when it comes to Prime Day, because its one of the best ways to grab some of Sony's flagships no matter your budget.
In fact, you can already grab the Sony WH-1000XM4 for a great price already, and Prime Day isn't even here yet. The XM5s always drop to great prices over Prime Day, and we've had a sneaky peek recently as to what kind of savings to expect on the XM6 after a surprise free gift card.
What kind of savings are we looking for? Some lowest prices with some luck. That means a $130 discount for the XM5, and an impressive $220 for the XM4. Anything within $20 of those two is well worth the pickup.
We've less data on the XM6 on account of their newness, but I'd like to see anything from $30-$50 off. That would be a suitable discount to make them worth picking up over some of the now more accomplished competition.
Sony's older ANC cans are still an excellent option if you're looking to balance flagship performance with a lower price. Their 4.5-star review attests to their solid sound, brilliant noise canceling, and good comfort. 30 hours of battery life is plenty as well, and the case remains the best of the Sony family.
The WH-1000XM5 were our favorite headphones for a long time for a good reason. Good sound and even better ANC made sure that they landed an exemplary 4.5-star review, and we're hoping to see a big price drop during Prime Day. Their biggest discount has been $120 — here's to hoping we see something similar again!
The latest version of Sony's headphones garnered a 4-star review, with particular note on the vocal clarity and solid ANC. They're a bit more expensive now, and we've no data to predict a discount, but we're hoping for something nice and big.
I wasn't expecting anything to dethrone the Sony WH-1000XM5 from their place as the best headphones, but the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S3 were perhaps the biggest surprise of the year.
They're a package that, pound for pound, beats out the WH-1000XM5 and the XM6 in just about every metric. Sound quality, comfort, looks... the list goes on, and on. Just know that if you pick up a pair of the PX7 S3, you're getting our latest pick of the bunch — and it is an accomplished bunch.
As for what kind of discount to expect, things are slightly murkier thanks to a lack of discount data. They're another new pair of headphones, but I'm hoping we see at least $50 off over Prime Day. Anything $20 below that would be good, although any discounts are welcome. It would be their first discount too, and there's no time like the present.
Bowers & Wilkins' latest set of cans are the best we've seen so far, as demonstrated in their 4.5-star review. They've got the best sound I've ever heard for the price, and they're some of the most comfortable headphones you can put on your head. 30 hours of battery makes sure they'll last a long time, and they've got a super sturdy protective case.
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones might not have the sound or the battery life of their similarly priced contemporaries, but they beat everyone out when it comes to a specific feature. Noise canceling.
If you're looking for the best way possible to block out every single noise around you, you've got two options. These, or a pair of industrial ear defenders — and only the Bose options are going to play you sweet, sweet tunes.
We have some idea of savings as well, thanks to some price drops over the last year or so. The biggest price drop we've seen has been $120, so I'd imagine we'll see something close to that. Perhaps $100 off. We'd like to see more, of course, but we'll have to wait for the sale proper to see what kind of savings to expect.
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones more than earned their 4.5-star review thanks to the best noise canceling you've ever heard. They might not have the most battery life in the world, but they've got solid, bassy sound and supreme comfort. I love my pair, and it's probable you will too.

Amazon stock target raised at Truist on expected beat and raise quarter
-- Truist analysts raised their price target on Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares to $250 from $226 in a note Wednesday, maintaining a Buy rating on the stock. The firm cited expectations for a second-quarter earnings beat and a potential guidance raise for the third quarter as its reason for raising its target for the stock. Ahead of Amazon's results, Truist said it remains constructive on the stock, calling Amazon 'a share gainer and a long-term winner across eCommerce, Advertising, Cloud and Logistics.' 'We expect AMZN to report stronger than expected 2Q25 results driven by a resilient NA consumer virtually unaffected by the macro or tariffs so far, and by favorable FX on a weakening US$,' wrote the analysts. Higher order frequency and average selling prices (ASPs) are also contributing to growth, according to Truist's analysis. The firm now expects second-quarter revenue of $164.2 billion, up 11% year over year, which is ahead of consensus at $162 billion and at the high end of Amazon's own guidance. Truist also raised its North America revenue forecast to $99.6 billion, versus the consensus estimate of $97.2 billion. International revenue is forecast at $33.85 billion, slightly ahead of previous expectations, thanks to foreign exchange tailwinds. Truist believes FX, initially expected to be a 10-basis-point headwind, may now turn into a modest tailwind, particularly helping Q3 results. On the bottom line, the firm expects operating income of $17.4 billion, representing a 10.6% margin and surpassing the $16.7 billion consensus. 'While the macro remains uncertain, we believe that sustaining 2Q trends into 3Q should lead to a guide that's slightly above current consensus,' the analysts concluded. Early Amazon Prime Day phone deals — some of my favorite phones are already on sale
In many ways, the timing of Amazon Prime Day couldn't be better if you're in the market for a new phone. With some big phone launches looming in the fall, retailers are inclined to cut the price on current models to clear out inventory. Plus, the phones that have launched earlier in the year are in line for lower prices as well in an effort to keep sales going after their initial releases. In other words, if you've been considering upgrading your handset, this year's Prime Day provides an excellent opportunity to pick up one for substantially less than what you'd normally have to pay. And you don't have to wait for the sales event to kick off next Tuesday (July 8), as some early Prime Day phone have already surfaced. The key to finding great savings on phones during Prime Day is to not necessarily restrict yourself to searching Amazon's sales. Don't get me wrong — Amazon will offer a number of notable discounts on phones, particularly Android devices. And in many cases, those phones will be unlocked so you can take them to the wireless provider of your choice. But some of the better phone discounts will either require activation with the best phone carriers — that's a hallmark of phone offers at Best Buy, for example — or come directly through wireless providers themselves. Often times, you can get an even better price on a phone with a trade-in, but for the most part, you should be able to simply sign up for an unlimited data plan to get the best offer. There's a wrinkle this year, as Samsung is holding its Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 event on Wednesday (July 9). That's the second day of Prime Day, and the event figures to introduce us to at least the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable phones. Doubtlessly, Samsung will offer deals of its own on those new devices — including a promotion right now that saves you $50 on whatever Samsung announces just by registering your name and e-mail address. But it also means that current models of Samsung's foldable phones will see heavy discounts just ahead of Unpacked. Below, here's the best early deals on phones that I've spotted ahead of Prime Day. This is a great way to get one of Apple's best iPhones at a low-to-no cost. iPhone 16 Pro: was $999 now free @ VerizonDon't have a phone to trade in for your new iPhone? No worries — Verizon will give you an iPhone 16 Pro for free when you sign up for any of its My Plan unlimited data plans. You'll receive monthly bill credits for 36 months that cover the cost of the iPhone 16 Pro, which features a dedicated telephoto lens and a top-performing A18 Pro chipset along with a larger 6.3-inch screen than previous Pro models. iPhone 16e: was $599 now $215 @ AT&TSign up for an unlimited plan at AT&T, and your monthly payment on an iPhone 16e drops from $16.67/month to just $5.99. Over the course of 36 months, that saves you more than $380 on the cost of Apple's entry-level phone. As thin as the Edge is, we were more impressed with how light weight and durable the phone proved to be in our Galaxy S25 Edge review. Samsung Galaxy S25: was $799 now $360 @ Mint MobileBuy Samsung's current entry-level flagship at Mint Mobile, you can save $330 off the price of a Galaxy S25. As our Galaxy S25 review found, you're getting a compact phone that offers the same AI features as Samsung's more expensive models. This also happens to be one of the rare sub-$800 phones that offers a dedicated zoom lens. Mint's deal requires you to pay for two years of unlimited data, but Mint is halving the normal cost to just $15/month or a total of $360. And Mint's coverage comes via the extensive network of parent company T-Mobile. Google Pixel 9: was $799 now $249 @ US MobileStarting July 4, discount carrier US Mobile is reviving a deal that blew away my colleague John Velasco last month — you'll be able to pick up a Pixel 9 for $550 off its regular price when you also purchase an unlimited data plan through US Mobile. The promotion kicks off at 11 a.m. EST on Friday and lasts so long as the Pixel 9 remains in stock. Considering the steep discount on a top-performing camera phone, that doesn't figure to be for very long. One of my favorite midrange phones of the year is currently $50 offer at Amazon. We have seen the price drop to as low as $499, though, so you might want to wait until we get closer to Prime Day before snapping up this phone. If you do get a OnePlus 13R, you'll get a long-lasting phone that doesn't make too many compromises to deliver a lower price tag. And I was impressed by the improved camera performance during testing for my OnePlus 13R review. Yes, a new Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be making its debut at the same time as Prime Day. But if the rumored larger screen and improved telephoto lens don't sound like features you need, why not grab the current Galaxy Z Fold 6, especially when you can get it for a $400 discount? The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a refined design that's powered by an impressive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and the big discount at Amazon tackles one of our biggest complaints about the foldable phone — its supersized price. We're also expecting the Galaxy Z Flip 7 to debut during Prime Day, which probably explains the price drop on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, available for $150 off its regular price. Opt for the older model, and you'd most likely be giving up the larger screen sizes rumored for the Z Flip 7. But there's no changes expected to the cameras and that's one of the best things about the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which produces the best photos of any foldable phone in our testing.

Amazon Stock (AMZN) Gets a Price Target Boost Ahead of Earnings
The stock of e-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN) has received a price target boost ahead of the company's upcoming second-quarter financial results. Youssef Squali, a four-star rated analyst at Truist Securities (TFC), raised his price target on AMZN stock to $250 from $226, which is 13% higher than the stock's closing price of $220.46 on July 2. Squali also reiterated a Buy rating on the shares. In a note to clients, Squali wrote that he expects Amazon to report strong Q2 results, driven by a resilient North American consumer 'virtually unaffected by the macro or tariffs so far.' AMZN stock is flat on the year as investors worry that consumers have pulled back their spending amid ongoing tariff uncertainty. Mixed Messages So far, the data and messaging on tariff impacts has been mixed. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a CNBC interview recently that the online retailer has 'so far not seen prices appreciably go up… We did a lot of forward buying several months ago, and then a lot of our sellers—our third-party selling partners—forward deployed a lot of inventory to avoid some of the issues with the uncertainty around tariffs.' However, a new survey from privately held Alix Partners concludes that e-commerce is experiencing its most disruptive period in more than 10 years as online shopping activity nosedives due to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies. Many on Wall Street are eagerly awaiting the Q2 print from Amazon and other retailers to gauge the true impact of President Trump's tariff regime. Amazon is expected to report its Q2 financials on or around July 31. The stock is up less than 1% this year. Is AMZN Stock a Buy? average Amazon price target of $243.32 implies 10.64% upside from current levels.
