Two die in five-vehicle crash in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: Two friends lost their lives in a five-vehicle crash, believed to have been caused by a car that veered out of control along Jalan Sungai Rengit - Kota Tinggi. Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the incident occurred at KM66 around 4.10pm on Friday (June 28). "Initial investigations found that a 26-year-old male driver lost control of his car, which then crashed into three vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. "The impact of the collision caused another car, driven by a 68-year-old man, to lose control before ramming into a lorry," he said in a statement. Supt Yusof added that the man and his 73-year-old passenger both suffered major head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims' bodies were taken to the forensic unit of Kota Tinggi hospital for further examination and a post-mortem procedure. "Two other male drivers aged 26 and 27, also involved in the crash, were taken to the same hospital for medical treatment," he added. Meanwhile, a 49-year-old lorry driver and a 30-year-old female driver were detained by police to assist with the investigation.
