Vizione, Permaju unit terminate RM250m construction deal over project uncertainty

VIZIONE Holdings Bhd and Permaju Property Sdn Bhd (PPSB) have mutually agreed to terminate a RM250 million construction contract, citing uncertainties related to project approvals and commercial viability.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Vizione said PPSB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Permaju Industries Bhd, intends to re-submit the project's development plans to the authorities.
Following a reassessment, both parties agreed to terminate the letter of award (LOA) on an amicable basis, effective immediately.
'No work related to the LOA was commenced and the company did not incur any material cost related to the LOA since its acceptance on December 7, 2023,' Vizione said.
The contract, first announced in December 2023, covered the third phase of a 10-phase development under a joint .
At the time of the award, only two phases had been completed. The project was initially scheduled to begin on Jan 1, 2025.
The termination is not expected to have any material impact on Vizione's earnings per share or net assets per share in the immediate future. –TMR

Broken chain, big heart: Gold buyer helps mum in need

GEORGE TOWN: A gold buyer extended a helping hand to a struggling mother after receiving a parcel containing a small fragment of a gold chain and a handwritten note pleading for assistance. The woman had posted the gold to Muhammad Amirulfaiz Mohd Nasir's second-hand gold shop via a courier service, explaining that she could not afford the travel costs. Inside the package was a torn gold chain weighing just 0.34 grams, along with a note that read: "With this small piece of gold, I hope we can survive, my children and I. Hopefully, it can be sold. Amin Ya Rabbal Alamin." She had earlier contacted Amirulfaiz after obtaining his number from an acquaintance known as "Bonda." In her messages, she enquired about selling damaged gold and shared photographs of the chain. In a WhatsApp message, the woman explained that she had only RM10 and could not make the journey herself. Her husband, she added, was away working as a security guard. Amirulfaiz, 33, confirmed that he received the parcel via one of his staff members, who verified that the item was authentic and valued at around RM136 based on current market prices. "I wasn't at the shop when the parcel arrived, but my staff informed me about it and the note. After reading it, I asked them to check and weigh the chain," he said when contacted. Touched by the woman's situation and the heartfelt note, he decided to pay her RM250 — nearly twice the gold's value —and also contributed additional funds so she could buy groceries and a cake for her child's birthday. He later transferred the full amount to her husband's bank account.

TRX City breaks ground on 39-storey tower, PwC named anchor tenant

KUALA LUMPUR: TRX City Sdn Bhd has commenced construction on a new 39-storey office tower at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), further cementing its status as Malaysia's International Financial Centre. Targeted for completion in 2029, the tower will meet global standards with features such as flexible floorplates, multi-tiered security, direct MRT connectivity, and WELL Core and Shell certification—emphasising occupant health and wellbeing. At the groundbreaking ceremony, TRX City CEO Datuk Azmar Talib announced that PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd (PwC) will serve as the anchor tenant. The firm will move its headquarters from KL Sentral to the new tower, taking up at least 200,000 sq ft of net lettable area. "The firm's decision to move its headquarters here is a strong endorsement of TRX as the preferred premium international business address," Azmar added. Following a binding head of terms signed in November 2024, TRX City and PwC aim to finalise the definitive agreement to build and lease by the end of the second quarter of 2025. TRX has delivered over 9 million sq ft of gross floor area covering office, retail, hotel and residential components. "Today, we are proud to report that retail is nearing full occupancy, residential projects are more than 95 per cent sold, and office buildings currently in operation have reached close to 80 per cent occupancy based on NLA. "In just over a year, more global companies are choosing TRX. This includes Ant International, Bin Zayed International (M) Bhd, and MUFG Investor Services. Signalling strong trust in Kuala Lumpur's potential as a business and financial hub," Azmar added. To fund the new development, TRX City is in the midst of securing up to RM660 million in financing, with Affin Bank Bhd pledging RM250 million.

Selangor KPDN destroys RM3.5mil fake goods in major bust

SHAH ALAM: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) destroyed counterfeit goods worth over RM3.5 million today at the Bukit Raja Exhibits Storage in Selangor. This marks the state's largest disposal operation in half a decade. Selangor KPDN director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey confirmed the seized items stemmed from 64 resolved court cases between January 2024 and May 2024. 'The disposed items include 41,000 self-care products, 4,000 clothing accessories, 4,370 watches and garments, 11,900 footwear units, and 300 motorcycle parts,' he stated during a press briefing. Additional confiscated equipment involved in controlled item misappropriation—such as pumps, flow meters, and storage containers—valued at RM250,000 were also discarded. The cases fell under multiple laws, including the Trademarks Act 2019, Control of Supplies Act 1961, and Copyright Act 1987. Mohd Zuhairi emphasized the ministry's commitment to curbing illicit trade and protecting consumer rights.
