Mission Impossible 8 Box Office Day 16: Tom Cruise's Film Bounces Back, Mints Rs 90 Crore
Last Updated:
Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One has grossed Rs 90 crore in India. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film marks Cruise's final outing as Ethan Hunt.
Tom Cruise is back to doing what he does best — defying gravity and box office expectations. On Day 16, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One pulled off yet another high-octane stunt at the Indian box office. After a mid-week slowdown, the film has bounced back with style, raking in a cool Rs 90 crore so far.
Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible 8 entered the third week in India on a strong note. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and co-written with Erik Jendresen, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning marks Tom Cruise's final outing as the legendary spy Ethan Hunt. The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett.
The film pocketed Rs 3.65 crore on Day 15 (third Saturday) and followed it up with a slightly better Rs 3.75 crore on Day 16 (third Sunday), according to early estimates. That pushes the total India collection to a solid Rs 90.45 crore across all languages.
The final chapter in the Mission: Impossible saga kicked off with a decent run when it hit theatres on May 17. Fans rushed to catch Tom Cruise back in action as Ethan Hunt, pulling off gravity-defying stunts and intense fight scenes like only he can. The film had a strong start, bringing in Rs 54.4 crore in its first week.
All eyes are on whether The Final Reckoning can keep up the pace and cruise its way to the Rs 100 crore mark in India.
Ahead of the release, Tom Cruise had left Indian fans delighted by speaking in Hindi during a promotional video. 'Main aap sab se bahut pyaar karta hoon. Mujpe bharosa karo, ek akhri baar (I love you all a lot. Trust me one last time)," he said. He also shared his fond memories of visiting India, adding, 'I feel so much love for India. I have to say the whole experience has been etched in my memory. Every single moment. From the moment I landed, going to the Taj Mahal, and spending time in Mumbai, I remember each moment quite vividly."
A part of News18's review of the film read, 'But what truly sets The Final Reckoning apart is its tone. It's not just an action blockbuster. It's an elegy. A goodbye. A thank-you. And somehow, despite all the chaos, it's also a reckoning with legacy, with sacrifice, with what it really means to be a hero when the world keeps moving the goalpost. The Final Reckoning is the most fitting, heart-racing, gut-wrenching finale Ethan Hunt could've asked for. If this really is the last mission, then hats off, Mr. Cruise. You didn't just complete it. You aced it."

Akshay, Ahmed Khan, Sajid 'Convinced' Paresh Rawal For Hera Pheri 3 Return; Know How
Last Updated: Firoz Nadiadwala confirms Paresh Rawal's return to Hera Pheri 3, credits Akshay, Sajid & Ahmed Khan for bringing the OG trio back together. The much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3 is officially back on track with its original trio – Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty – reuniting for what is being touted as one of Indian cinema's most iconic comedy franchises. After initially exiting the project in May 2025, Paresh Rawal has now confirmed his return, sparking excitement among fans. In an interview with Pinkvilla, producer Firoz Nadiadwala shared how several key industry figures played a pivotal role in resolving the differences that had stalled the project. 'With love, respect, and kind guidance of my brother Sajid Nadiadwala, and also Mr. Ahmed Khan, Hera Pheri family is back together. My brother, Sajid put in a lot of personal time and efforts, over several days to resolve the matter. We have a bond of over 50 years," he said. Firoz also praised director Ahmed Khan for his dedication, stating, 'Ahmed too put in a lot of personal efforts. So it is with the love and guidance of Sajid and Ahmed, that everything is now productive and positive." Importantly, Akshay Kumar played a key role in making things right. 'We also have Akshay ji's support. We both have shared a very good bond since 1996. He was very kind, loving, and affectionate in the entire process of sorting the issues," Firoz revealed. He added that Priyadarshan, who is returning to direct the third installment, as well as Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, were all supportive of the film coming together again. A source close to the development told Pinkvilla that Sajid Nadiadwala initiated the reconciliation process for the greater good, and Akshay Kumar, known for his long-standing friendship with Sajid, didn't hesitate to come on board and smoothen things out. With Priyadarshan on board, Hera Pheri 3 is expected to go on floors by late 2025. 'This will be one more entertainer in the family franchise of Hera Pheri. We are all going to work very hard. The family is now together," Firoz added. Meanwhile, Nadiadwala's other comedy, Welcome To The Jungle, is also in production and will wrap up after two more schedules. Indian identities: Remaining vocal about being local
I am an Indian first and everything else later. Feels good to say that. Am proud that I am an Indian. I am a nationalist, and love to be one. India is in my DNA. Not everyone needs to say that, or feel that for sure. This is something very personal. Nationalism and a feel for the nation must not be thrust upon you. You must feel it, if at all. And you don't need to feel it all the time as well. You don't need to wear jingoism on your sleeve, do you? Even as I write this, there is noise around Diljit Dosanjh. Dosanjh is a star who represents Punjabi culture to the Indian and global audiences. He does say, at every show, that he is a Punjabi. He represents the culture proudly. How is it a crime to represent your roots, then? He is the first Punjabi artist to perform at the Coachella fest in the US. The first to make an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. These and his recent appearance at the Met Gala in New York are all personal milestones that put Punjab on the world map, in his own words. At the Met Gala, Dosanjh presented himself in an ivory-and-gold sherwani paired with a tehmat (draped bottoms) and a sweeping cape embroidered with the silhouetted map of Punjab—not of India. His turban completed the look and around his neck hung a copy of the famed Patiala necklace. What's wrong with representing Punjab? What's wrong with wearing Punjab on your cape? Is Diljit a Punjabi first and an Indian later? And is that a crime of omission or commission? Think about yourself, then. Who do you think you really are? And who do you pretend you are? The answer is personal and is different to every individual Indian. Are you an Indian first or a Malayali? This reminds me of a film that was a hit in Kerala and among the Kerala diaspora worldwide: Malayali from India. I hear this title as a social introduction at the many meetings I attend in Dubai and the rest of the UAE all too frequently. The Malayali is proud to be a Malayali, just as a Kannadiga is proud to be a Kannadiga. But what are you first— a Kannadiga or an Indian? Are you a Bengali from India or an Indian from Bengal? And does it matter at all?
