PFF names Broncos' top 3 players ahead of 2025 season
Pro Football Focus writer Trevor Sikkema recently wrote an article about the three top players for each NFL team entering the 2025 season. Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys and Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns are some players who represent a sense of importance for their teams.
For the Denver Broncos, Sikkema chose cornerback Patrick Surtain, wide receiver Courtland Sutton and offensive guard Quinn Meinarz as the three top players for the franchise. Below, he elaborates why, with the data to prove it.
'Surtain earned PFF's Best Coverage Defender Award in 2024 with an 87.4 coverage grade while allowing just 0.53 yards per coverage snap," Sikkema wrote. "Meinerz posted a 0.51 WAR in 2024, third-best among all guards, on the strength of an 87.5 run-blocking grade. Sutton followed with a 0.44 WAR and a 77.0 receiving grade, placing him among the top 20 wideouts league-wide.'
The Broncos made their first playoff appearance since their 2015 Super Bowl-winning season in 2024. Hopefully, the three players mentioned can take the Broncos deep into the postseason -- and back to the Super Bowl -- soon.

Not only has McLaurin been one of the most consistent wide receivers in the NFL since 2019, but he's coming off a career-best season in the scoring department. Playing in his first season with Jayden Daniels, McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. In the playoffs, he racked up 227 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Commanders were one game away from the Super Bowl. McLaurin and Daniels could be a dangerous duo in the NFC East for years to come, but the veteran is reaching a point where he might need to pack up and move elsewhere to secure his desired deal. What are the odds the Rams trade for Micah Parsons?
Let's just put this disclaimer out there first: The Los Angeles Rams probably aren't going to trade for Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons. Yes, Parsons requested a trade from the Cowboys after contract negotiations broke down. Yes, the Rams are in a win-now mode with Super Bowl aspirations. But that doesn't automatically mean the Rams will try to land Parsons in a blockbuster deal. Vegas seems to agree. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Rams have +1800 odds to be Parsons' next team. That ranked seventh on the initial odds list provided by the sportsbook. The rest of the odds went: Cowboys (-300), Philadelphia Eagles (+1000), New England Patriots (+1000), Los Angeles Chargers (+1500), Arizona Cardinals (+1600) and San Francisco 49ers (+1600). Now, the seventh-best odds are still pretty good relative to a 32-team league. But it's more likely those odds are a testament to the Rams' history as a trade partner and their pursuit of a Super Bowl in 2025 than them being a legitimate suitor for Parsons. The Rams also don't really need another starting edge rusher. They already have 2024 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse (who Parsons admittedly loves as a player) as well as Byron Young and Braden Fiske. L.A. also just drafted Josaiah Stewart in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, that depth doesn't preclude them from using any of those players (save for Verse) in a package for Parsons — especially because all of them are on rookie deals and Parsons will be looking for a record-setting extension. All things considered, this is a fool's bet for anyone who seriously thinks the Rams are a true favorite to trade for Parsons. But, anything is possible in the NFL.

Although he went through some notable growing pains through his first 30 games, Hurts turned into an MVP candidate by year three. Despite the MVP campaign in 2022, Hurts has struggled to earn respect as a top quarterback from the masses. In 2024, Hurts played in 15 games. He posted his lowest yearly passing yardage with 2,903 yards off 248 completions. It was the first time he failed to exceed 3,000 yards in three seasons. He also tossed for just 18 touchdowns after throwing over 20 in his past two seasons. The Eagles ran plenty in 2024, thanks to the presence of Saquon Barkley. The star running back helped the Eagles as a team, but issued Hurts' critics plenty of ammo. Many believed that Hurts wouldn't be as successful in 2024 without Barkley. But Hurts' playoff numbers were nothing to overlook. In four games, Hurts threw for 726 yards, along with five touchdowns. As the Kansas City Chiefs zeroed in on stopping Barkley, the Eagles' offense had to rely on Hurts' quarterbacking to help take them to the Super Bowl winner's stage. An MVP-worthy performance came to life. Hurts has the accolades to prove he's one of the top QBs in the game. He might not start near the top of Madden 26, but a strong campaign throughout 2025 could help the Eagles quarterback improve his rating over time.
