Now you can change your name, address and more from your mobile with this new e-Aadhaar app - Here's how

Hindustan Times20 hours ago
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to introduce a QR code-enabled e-Aadhaar system nationwide by the end of 2025. The initiative will allow Aadhaar holders to verify their identity digitally, which will eliminate the need to carry or submit physical photocopies of the Aadhaar card for authentication. UIDAI will launch a new e-Aadhaar app with QR code verification by the end of 2025.(HT)
E-Aadhaar App: Digital Verification Process
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar confirmed that about 2,000 of the existing one lakh Aadhaar authentication devices have already been upgraded to support the QR-based system. Once implemented, identity checks can be completed using digital QR scans, which will streamline verification for both individuals and service providers.

Alongside the QR upgrade, UIDAI plans to launch an updated Aadhaar mobile app. This app will enable users to make changes to most personal details, such as name, address, and date of birth, directly from their smartphones. This change will reduce the need for in-person visits to enrolment centres.
Rollout Timeline and Changes
Starting November 2025, in-person visits to enrolment centres will only be required for biometric verification tasks, including fingerprint and iris scans. All other updates can be completed digitally through the app, which will make the process paperless and more convenient.

The system will also draw authenticated user information directly from government databases, including birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards under the PDS system, MNREGA records, and possibly electricity bill records for address verification.
UIDAI aims to reduce identity fraud risks while ensuring that identity verification remains secure and accessible for over a billion Aadhaar holders. The QR code verification method is already being tested in sub-registrar offices and the hospitality industry as a secure identity confirmation tool. The system will operate with privacy safeguards, which ensure personal information is shared only with explicit consent.

Children's Biometric Updates
On the other hand, UIDAI is coordinating with educational boards such as CBSE to conduct biometric enrolment drives for school students. These efforts target mandatory biometric updates for children between the ages of five and seven, and again between 15 and 17 years, to ensure their Aadhaar details remain current.

Raising Kids Is Costly? These Citizens Get Rs 25,000 Per Month For Each Child. This Nation Is...

In Germany, there is no income limit for receiving Kindergeld. If you belong to the high-income group, you may find the tax-free child allowance. Raising a child in India demands an immense financial commitment. Recently, a Chennai-based couple uploaded a post on Reddit sharing the monetary strain they have been navigating while raising their baby in the metropolitan city. In short, the parents revealed that they struggle to even manage a savings of Rs 8,000 every month despite a combined earning of Rs 78,000. On the contrary, there's Germany, where the government offers substantial support to parents through the Kindergeld policy. A digital creator recently explained the scheme through a playful video on Instagram. The clip shows the creator interacting with one of his friends, telling him that although he would love to have kids, the expenses involved in raising them are simply overwhelming. That's when the other person informed his friend about Kindergeld. As per the rules, all parents in Germany are entitled to receive child benefits to raise their child. One among them is Kindergeld, a monthly mode of payment offered to parents, regardless of their income. Kindergeld — All You Need To Know As of 2025, the Family Benefits Office at the Federal Employment Agency provides 255 euros per month to parents, ensuring that the basic needs of their offspring are met. What's more, the same rule applies to adopted children as well. They can live in any part of the world and still receive the same amount of money, provided the parents are fully taxable in Germany and the child remains financially or legally dependent on them. In Germany, there is no income limit for receiving Kindergeld. If you belong to the high-income group, you may find the tax-free child allowance more beneficial than the regular child benefit. On the other hand, those from a low-income background are equally eligible to receive an extra payment called the supplementary child allowance, along with the regular benefit. Who Claims Kindergeld And How Long It Lasts Since only one of the parents will get the benefit, couples have to decide who will claim it. If the parents are separated, the person who holds the primary custody should apply for it. Kindergeld is also applicable to any guardian, grandparent, or carer the child lives with. Parents will receive Kindergeld till their child turns 18, but if they are unemployed or have a disability, then payments can continue beyond that age. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Delhi govt to table bill to regulate private school fee hikes in monsoon session

The Delhi government will introduce a bill to regulate fee hikes by private schools in the upcoming Monsoon Session, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. According to the Cabinet-approved ordinance, passed on April 29, the bill imposes strict penalties on schools that hike fees arbitrarily. For a first offence, schools will face fines ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, with repeat violations attracting penalties between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. If the school fails to refund within the specified time, the fine doubles after 20 days, triples after 40 days, and continues to increase with every 20-day delay. Repeated violations may lead to a ban on holding official positions in the school management and loss of the right to propose future fee revisions. Addressing the media, Gupta said, 'Delhi govt will table the education bill to regulate fee hike by private schools, in the Monsoon session of Assembly beginning from August 4.' Highlighting other policy steps, she announced that the Delhi Legislative Assembly will now operate as a paperless e-Vidhan Sabha. 'It is a matter of happiness that the Delhi Legislative Assembly will now be paperless. We have also developed the assembly as a model Legislative Assembly, as it is completely dependent on solar power now,' she said. The chief minister added that efforts are also underway to make the Delhi Secretariat paperless, as part of the government's broader digital and sustainable governance agenda. 'We are taking policy decisions to make Delhi developed,' she said. The Monsoon Session will be the third session of the Delhi Assembly under the Rekha Gupta-led government.
