Vocalist of punk band Armpunk Syndicate bashed by group in JB for failing to kiss hands of older men (VIDEO)
Malay paper Kosmo! cited Johor Baru South district police chief Asst Comm Raub Selamat saying an investigation paper has been opened under Section 148 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act.
'The police were informed about the incident yesterday and began investigations as soon as a report was lodged.
'We are also urging the victim or any witnesses to come forward and file a police report to assist in the investigation,' he was quoted saying.
Section 148 deals with 'possessing weapons or missiles at a riot', while Section 233 is on 'improper use of network facilities'.
Yesterday, two one-minute video clips went viral showing a group of six to seven men stopping, dragging, and beating another man.
One of the videos also showed a suspect using a metal rubbish bin to mercilessly strike the victim.

Punk band Armpunk Syndicate claimed that the men attacked its vocalist while he was coming out of the toilet, just because he 'didn't kiss their hands.'
'What kind of culture is taking root in our artistic spaces? Is this what we're promoting in the scene?' They asked on Instagram.
The band also claimed that urine was thrown to them while performing on stage.
The vocalist, named as Zed, has since sarcastically 'praised' those in the public for not reacting towards the incident.
'Art is not a place for physical conflict. There is no space for bullies in art. Art is a safe space for us to connect and empathise with one another,' he said on the band's Instagram account.

It comes after the BBC launched a review into Strictly in 2024 that looked into allegations of bullying and harassment against former professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, made by his former dance partner Amanda Abbington. The corporation upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made – and introduced a series of new measures aimed at improving welfare. This included the introduction of a chaperone who is present 'at all times' during training room rehearsals. EastEnders star James Borthwick was also suspended from the BBC after a video emerged of the actor using a disabled slur on the set of the dance programme.

Death investigation underway after body recovered from water in River Park, police say
Chicago police are investigating after a body was recovered from the water Saturday afternoon on the city's Northwest Side. They said just before 2 p.m., the victim's body, only described as a man, was found unresponsive and floating in the water. The Marine Unit recovered the body, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Area 2 detectives are conducting a death investigation. Authorities launch probe into former Trump prosecutor Jack Smith for alleged illegal political activity
The Office of the Special Counsel has launched an investigation into Jack Smith, the former special counsel who investigated President Trump before he returned to office, for alleged illegal political activity. The independent federal agency confirmed to CBS News on Saturday that it has launched an investigation into Smith for potential violations of the Hatch Act, a federal law that "limits certain political activities of federal employees." The New York Post was first to report on the investigation into Smith. Smith was appointed by then-Attorney General Merrick Garland in November 2022 to take over two investigations into Mr. Trump's handling of classified documents and alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election. Mr. Trump pleaded not guilty and denied wrongdoing. Both cases resulted in criminal charges against Mr. Trump but they the cases were closed last year after he won reelection. Smith resigned in January, days before Mr. Trump returned to office. Sen. Tom Cotton, Republican of Arkansas, called for an investigation into Smith's conduct earlier this week and alleged that Smith had pushed for a "rushed trial" of Trump. "They were the actions of a political actor masquerading as a public official," Cotton wrote on X. "That's why I've asked this unprecedented interference in the 2024 election be immediately investigated by OSC." In May, Mr. Trump chose right-wing podcast host and MAGA loyalist Paul Ingrassia to lead the Office of Special Counsel. However, his nomination is stalled in the Senate. Mr. Trump fired the former head of the Special Counsel, Hampton Dellinger, in February.
