Despite all that, insiders like Nick Kypreos and Greg Wyshynski have floated scenarios where Crosby might consider a move—especially if the Penguins stumble early in the season.
On the Real Kyper & Bourne show, Kypreos even went as far as saying, 'I am now more in the belief that Sidney Crosby will be traded; if they're really bad, the likelihood he's traded after the Olympics grows.'
While NHL insider Elliotte Friedman echoed some of that uncertainty, he also acknowledged that Crosby is incredibly routine-oriented. 'Do you want to trade him in-season?' he questioned, clearly skeptical of any abrupt shift.
Greg Wyshynski, too, added his voice to the mix with a bold take: 'I've long believed that Sidney Crosby will end his career in Montreal… Being part of the legacy and lineage of the Montreal Canadiens.'
Despite all the speculation, the broader hockey community is growing weary of the noise. One fan vented on social media, 'If you're in the hockey media… the 'Sidney Crosby being traded' takes and false rumors are getting tiring and this is coming from a non-Penguins fan.'
Looking ahead, Crosby is expected to continue climbing the NHL's all-time scoring list, approaching 1,700 career points alongside Alex Ovechkin. Instead of obsessing over fantasy trade scenarios, maybe it's time to focus on what really matters—his enduring greatness in a Penguins jersey.
