Incredibles 3 Gets New Director, Why Brad Bird Isn't Directing Revealed
Pixar's Incredibles 3 has found a new director, with Disney revealing that a new filmmaker will step behind the camera for the next entry in the iconic Disney franchise.
Who is the new Incredibles 3 director?
According to a report from THR, Peter Sohn — the director behind Elemental and The Good Dinosaur — will direct the third installment in the Incredibles franchise.

Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films, is still on board to write the third movie. However, Bird will not be directing this film, and it seems as if his schedule is keeping him from directing the third movie. He's currently in pre-production on Ray Gunn, a movie for Skydance.

Not too much is known about Incredibles 3, although the movie was officially announced last year with a new logo. The franchise originally began in 2004, with the first movie following a family of superheroes trying to hide their powers and live a normal life.

The first film was a major success for Disney and Pixar, earning over $600 million at the global box office. 14 years later, a sequel to the film was released, which dealt with the family of superheroes now trying to restore the public's trust in superheroes. That movie was also a massive hit, and made over $1.2 billion at the global box office.
The Incredibles franchise has largely starred Craig T. Nelson as Robert 'Bob' Parr/Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl/Mrs. Incredible, Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr, Spencer Fox and Huckleberry Milner as Dashiell 'Dash' Parr, Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius Best/Frozone, and Brad Bird as Edna 'E' Mode.

Is this the best movie of the 21st century? 500 Hollywood power players think so.
The people have spoken, and the best movie released since Jan. 1, 2000, has been determined. And by people, we mean the 500 or so actors, directors, writers and other Hollywood power players The New York Times surveyed for its 100 best movies of the 21st century ranking, which came out with its top 20 on June 27. The likes of Pamela Anderson, Nicholas Sparks, Stephen King, Simu Liu, Sofia Coppola, Danielle Brooks, Brian Cox, Ava DuVernay, Molly Ringwald, Rachel Zegler and Mel Brooks had their say — and yes, you can even see each of their top 10 picks, Letterboxd style. Oscar-winning director Coppola apparently took a shining to the 2004 Pixar classic (and fellow Oscar winner) "The Incredibles," while Julianne Moore admitted she's not above a raunchy comedy like "Superbad" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." And Sparks isn't only watching soppy romances; he's also enjoying dramas like "Inception" and "Gladiator." Undeserved Oscar winners – and the ones that should have won None other than Bong Joon Ho's "Parasite," which in 2020 became the first ever non-English film to earn the best picture Oscar, ranked as the No. 1 highest-voted film in the NYT's survey. And no wonder, because it earned an eye-boggling 99% "fresh" rating from nearly 500 film reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. In 2019, USA TODAY's film critic Brian Truitt was close to giving the social commentary thriller full marks (he ended up giving three and a half of four stars). The Korean film "is expertly paced with its reveals, never falls apart (even when it descends into bloody chaos) and also features outstanding acting performances," he noted in his review. In case anyone was wondering, director Bong did not include any of his own films (which includes the recent "Mickey 17" as well as 2017's "Okja" and 2013's "Snowpiercer) in his top nine ranking. New on streaming: From 'Minecraft' to 'KPop Demon Hunters,' what to watch right now The top 20 highest-voted films were as follows: 20. "The Wolf of Wall Street," 2013 19: "Zodiac," 2007 18: "Y tu mamá también," 2002 17: "Brokeback Mountain," 2005 16: "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," 2000 15: "City of God," 2003 14: "Inglourious Basterds," 2009 13: "Children of Men," 2006 12: "The Zone of Interest," 2023 11: "Mad Max: Fury Road," 2015 10: "The Social Network," 2010 9: "Spirited Away," 2002 8: "Get Out," 2017 7: "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," 2004 6: "No Country for Old Men," 2007 5: "Moonlight," 2016 4: "In the Mood for Love," 2001 3: "There Will Be Blood," 2007 2: "Mulholland Drive," 2001 1: "Parasite," 2019 This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: 'Parasite' voted best film of the century by Hollywood power players

Robert Downey Jr. Supports ‘Ironheart' Star Dominique Thorne Amid Review-Bombing Campaign: ‘We're in This Love Together'
On the day of 'Ironheart's' premiere, Robert Downey Jr. met with star Dominique Thorne over FaceTime to express his support for the actress and series amid a review bombing campaign ahead of the show's release. The show, which premieres Tuesday night on Disney+, has received middling to poor reviews from critics. But it was also hit with hundreds of often identical negative reviews by users who have not seen the show on Rotten Tomatoes, a form of harassment historically deployed against works focused on women, people of color or LGBTQ characters. 'I've grown so fond of you, it's bananas,' Downey said in the video. 'Congratulations. I'll be watching it with the world.' You can watch the video, released on Instagram, below. Downey captioned the post 'Riri and Tony don't follow trends #goodmorningIronheart'. The video, featuring the two actors, went live only hours before the three-episode premiere of 'Ironheart' releases at 6 p.m. PT. At the beginning of the video, Downey points out, 'It's June 24, which is…' Thorne touchingly responds, 'It's dad's birthday' — a reference to Downey's father, Robert Downey Sr. 'God, you've been doing too much press,' Downey jokes. The two then celebrate 'Ironheart's' release. The post shows a touching act of solidarity from Downey, who gave arguably the most notable and popular performance from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his 11-year run as Tony Stark. The actor will return to the franchise next year when he portrays Doctor Doom in 'Avengers: Doomsday' (or possibly this summer if he cameos in 'Fantastic Four: First Steps'). With the unwarranted heat 'Ironheart' has already received, it's a welcome sentiment from the Marvel star. 'Ironheart' marks only Thorne's second appearance as Riri Williams, a.k.a. Ironheart (well, third if we're counting the Disney cruise). The character first appeared in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' when Namor hunted her for creating a Vibranium detector that led an expedition to his underwater domain. By the end of the film, Williams appears in her first functioning Iron Man suit. Prior to tonight's release of the first half of 'Ironheart,' the series has a 32% audience score despite the fact audiences haven't yet seen the show. Thorne and 'Ironheart' have consistently faced online attacks, as has become common in recent MCU films and series starring women, people of color and members of the LGBTQ community. 'Ironheart' received a truncated marketing campaign, with the first trailer releasing less than a month and a half before the series began streaming. In Marvel comics, the superhero debuted in 'Invincible Iron Man (2016) #7' and soon took over as Iron Man following Tony Stark's apparent death in 'Civil War II.' This was a period of time when many Marvel heroes were being replaced or working alongside younger legacy characters ascending to the mantle. Riri Williams faced harsher criticism than most. Williams views Stark as a mentor, speaking to an A.I. version of his consciousness following the events of 'Civil War II.' This adds a touching parallel to Downey's message, as the two characters have no formal relationship in the MCU. With the amount of unwarranted hate Thorne has received, Downey's video is a nice reminder that one of the world's biggest movie stars remains in her corner. '17 years from the birth of the MCU to the premiere of 'Ironheart,'' Downey says in the video. 'And we're in this love together.'
