Brit in Benidorm shares three things you 'must' do to avoid 'being scammed'
If you're heading to Benidorm this summer, one Brit abroad has warned you may want to look out for some common scams so you don't lose any money. Harry, who posts as @harrytokky on TikTok, regularly shares his advice about the Spanish seaside resort. He's warned about taxis and whether they're legitimate or not, shared where you can get the cheapest pint, and even urged Brits to visit the "nicest McDonald's in the whole entire world".
But this time, he warned other Brits there are some people who may seem nice in Benidorm, upon first glance. But behind the fun exterior, they may be hiding some scary truths.
3. Potato man
Harry warned you'll usually see these men in the mornings, and Harry said they're usually "older men on the beachfront, doing these games".
He said the game can "look like noughts and crosses," but claimed it's best to "avoid them" as they're "known scams in Benidorm".
"Definitely avoid them. You are not going to win money, even though it looks like people are winning. It's all part of their little con," he seethed.
2. 'Illegal' cocktail drinks
Harry said: "Now this is one I highly recommend avoiding. Those cocktail drinks are illegal, and you have no idea where they're being made.
"It could be on the back of a truck for all you know, so I definitely highly recommend avoiding them."
These drinks are considered illegal because they are not regulated by health or safety authorities. The preparation and storage of these drinks usually do not meet hygiene standards, increasing the risk of contamination.
Buying from unlicensed vendors supports illegal activity and undermines legitimate businesses that follow the rules to keep customers safe.
Authorities in Benidorm regularly warn tourists and locals to avoid these illegal drinks and to only purchase beverages from reputable bars and restaurants.
The risks outweigh any potential savings or novelty, making it important for visitors to stay vigilant and prioritise their health and safety.
1. The ladies of the dodgy night
Harry warned: "If you're walking down Benidorm, anywhere in Benidorm, and you're alone, generally alone, and these ladies walk up to you offering special services, avoid them.
"Now, most of the time they're out to rob you, steal your phone, steal your jewellery, that sort of thing."
He warned it's important to be extra vigilant, especially when you're drinking a lot of alcohol and then potentially walking home alone. You should always be aware of your surroundings.
Harry did say he wasn't trying to "put you off" visiting Benidorm, noting "these things happen all over the world," but if you're going to Benidorm, he shared you should avoid these scams.

Portuguese police revealed today that the 18-year-old Brit had been robbed and hospitalised. The group is said to have stolen the victim's phone, worth around €600 (£525) Cops said five of the attackers - all aged 17 - have been arrested. Another four were identified by police. The violent crime occurred at the party resort of Albufeira. Two of the teenage suspects were filmed kicking their victim in the footage posted online. CCTV footage in the area where the assault took place is understood to have been key to the identification of those responsible. The unnamed victim is now back in the UK. Confirming the arrests, a spokesman for the GNR police force said: "The Faro Territorial Command arrested five 17-year-old men for robbery in the municipality of Albufeira. Shocking moment Brit influencer HSTikkyTokky batters reveller as massive brawl erupts in Magaluf "Following an investigation into a robbery involving violent assaults on an 18-year-old man, which took place on 17 July in the town of Albufeira. "The military police carried out police investigations that enabled them to identify and locate the suspects. 'During the police investigation, the GNR intercepted the five suspects and arrested them, also seizing five mobile phones. 'The detainees were due to appear on July 24 at the Portimao Judicial Court.' The teenagers, who live in Quarteira near Albufeira, are suspected of a number of other violent assaults on other young tourists. An active police investigation is ongoing. Local reports said they filmed the attacks and posted the footage on social media to brag about what they had done. Albufeira has come under the spotlight in recent weeks following the deaths of two British tourists in quick succession. On June 4, tragic Scots tourist Greg Monks was found dead near Albufeira after going missing a week earlier in the resort. The 38-year-old plant mechanic from Glasgow is believed to have lost his life after jumping over a wall and falling down a steep hillside during a night out with his stag do friends. Around four hours before Greg's body was found by police, another young Brit tourist was found dead behind a steep drop at the back of a residential block by Albufeira's Old Town. The 21-year-old is said to have gone out drinking with pals and is thought to have become disoriented as he tried to get back to his hotel. News of his death only emerged three days after Greg was found dead.

In the last week, the duo became 'exclusive' as Harry was supposedly closed off and happy in their couple. This was whilst Shakira got to know Conor Phillips, but she later made a huge confession to Toni Laites. She admitted that she had 'suppressed emotions' when it came to her true feelings toward Harry, and she then ended things with Conor. The footballer then flirted with Shakira behind Helena's back, suggesting that it "would be a good idea" for the pair to hang out when they both leave the villa. Shakira also said that he was her "best sleeping buddy" for snuggles, which he described as being "so good, like perfect," despite his exclusivity. At the Grafties, Harry & Shakira were nominated for the surprise Critics Choice Award. A clip of Harry's recent flirtations with Shakira was shown to the group, which left the rest of the contestants either cringing or open mouthed with shock When it came to deciding who should get the award, Megan went up on the podium and completely lambasted Harry for his treatment of both Helena and Shakira. She announced: "Basically, we picked these two people because I think everyone's faces spoke volumes when that clip was shown. Love Island star Shakira tells co-stars 'shut the f--- up' and makes honest confession about feelings for Harry "Especially how recent it was, and I think these two girls have suffered enough at the hands of this boy, from day one." She added: "I think we can all realise now that he is the problem, the common denominator in all this and I think these two girls deserve better." Droves of Love Island fans have since taken to social media to praise the star for her poise at that moment. Writing on X - formerly known as Twitter - one fan wrote: "Megan that speech was just what Harry needed to hear." A second enthusiastically stated: "Megan stood on business by calling Harry out." As someone else commented: "Finally, someone telling Harry how it is. He thinks he can get away with everything." And a fourth added: "Go on Meg." 8 Megan said that Harry was 'the common denominator' as both girls deserved better Credit: ITV2 8 Helena could barely look at her partner during the dramatic award ceremony Credit: ITV2 8 She was left absolutely devastated by his actions behind her back Credit: ITV2 8 Most of the contestants cringed as they watched the clip Credit: ITV2 8 Angel was left open-mouthed as Harry's behaviour came to light Credit: ITV2 Love Island continues on ITV2 and is available to stream on ITVX.

‘Absolutely not, immediately no' people cry as man proposes in Nando's with the big question written in mayonnaise
Scroll down for some top tips on how to ace a proposal I DO(N'T) 'Absolutely not, immediately no' people cry as man proposes in Nando's with the big question written in mayonnaise Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MAN has been slated for his unconventional wedding proposal, after popping the big question to his beau by writing it out in mayonnaise. We all dream of a romantic proposal, with some choosing to take their partner to an exotic location, or share an intimate moment at home. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A man decided to propose to his girlfriend in Nandos Credit: 2 The woman didn't seem to impressed by the proposal Credit: However, one man decided to take a very unique approach to popping the question, after taking his girlfriend out to their local Nando's. Taking to TikTok, Nando's waiter Mal shared a snap of the proposal, which he recorded whilst serving the couple. "POV: When he does the bare minimum proposal at Nando's", Mal said. In the video, Mal can be seen carrying a plate of mayonnaise over to the couple. Written in curly mayo writing is the misspelt phrase: "Will you mary me?" Mal then gave the woman at the table the ring, whilst her partner can be seen smiling and not saying a word, assumedly too shy to pop the question himself. He doesn't stand up, or even get down on one knee, with Mal revealing that his legs "curled round that chair." The waiter said that the woman was left extremely perplexed by the unique proposal, and was unsure how to respond. He said that she sat confused for 10 minutes, before finally saying yes to the proposal. However, he added that they didn't even kiss after agreeing to spend the rest of their lives together, and instead just chose to hug. Love Island stars slam Dejon over 'worst exclusive proposal in show history' "He could have put way more thought into it", Mal critiqued, adding that the man had even turned up late to the proposal. The video, posted to Mal's TikTok account (@micmanmal5), has quickly gone viral, racking up 1.2 million views in just 24 hours. TikTok users raced to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many left unimpressed. One person said: "It literally doesn't cost a thing to get down on one knee and propose. How to ace a proposal Thinking of proposing? Follow this checklist by Fabulous' Deputy Editor Josie Griffiths to ensure a yes… Time it right - the average Brit waits between 18 months and two years to get engaged. But you might feel ready after six months, or decide to wait five plus years to pop the question. Only you truly know when the time's right, and this isn't a decision you want to rush. Falling in love might feel amazing but of course most relationships DON'T end in marriage - and this is for good reason… Pay attention - hopefully you haven't reached the point yet of your frustrated partner leaving their laptop open with 'hints' for rings they like. Ideally you'll want the ring to be a secret, but also something they'd happily wear - and for the rest of their life, so just a TEENY bit of pressure here. You need to be paying attention to any comments your partner makes about other people's rings, what they do and don't like, and what's most important to them - size, clarity, specific details. If you're really unsure, or if your partner hates surprises, it's best to propose with a dummy and then buy the real thing together. Family matters - tradition dictates that you ask the dad's permission for his daughter's hand in marriage, but it's not so straightforward nowadays. Maybe your partner's closer to their step-dad, or wants her mum to walk her down the aisle, in which case you'd be better off chatting to them. Maybe they'd find it weird if you went to their parents first, in which case you could ditch the whole thing. Or perhaps they're closer to their friends and the best idea would be letting your partner's best mate pick the ring. These things do matter and could come back to bite you if handled in the wrong way. Plan the setting - does your partner dread being centre of attention, or are they someone who'd be gutted if you proposed at home, berating you forever for a lack of 'effort'? Plan the place for your perfect proposal - how busy it'll be, whether you'll be able to get a good pic there, and other logistics around it. A proposal at the top of a mountain might sound good in theory but your girlfriend might not actually appreciate it when there's sweat dripping down her forehead and she's not wearing the cute dress she'd imagined for the pictures. Personally, I can't think of anything worse than a public proposal where everyone's waiting to hear your answer - in a group of friends, the middle of a restaurant or with an announcement at an event. So bear all of this in mind and remember, it's meant to be about what THEY want, not you. "You can do it in Nandos, sure, but at least get down on one knee and tell her why you want to marry her." A second person said: "Immediately, no. "The least he could do is stand up." A third said: "Absolutely not." A fourth added: "Gonna be honest here. I would pass him."
