Oppo Find X9 Pro's telephoto camera detailed
Today a new rumor out of China details that camera, and reveals that it's not going to be using the Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor that's been prevalent in a lot of Chinese flagships lately. Instead, it will be a new sensor, not used before in a periscope telephoto: the Samsung ISOCELL HP5. This is a 1/1.56" type, so it's slightly smaller than the HP9 behemoth.
The source of this rumor claims the shot quality at 10x zoom will still be good, implying that past that it won't be, and even adding that this single periscope solution will probably not live up to the dual periscopes of the Find X8 Pro.
The Find X9 Pro will also have a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide. It's expected to be powered by the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC. Oppo Find X8 Pro

Samsung Galaxy Watch8 in for review
A Galaxy of new Samsung devices made their way to the office, and we keep unpacking them. The Galaxy Watch8 is the new entry-point in Samsung's smartwatch portfolio and we have the 40mm Silver version with us. But first – a quick unboxing. Watch8 comes in a simple white cardboard box, which contains the watch and the same proprietary 10W wireless charging puck that ends with a USB-C cable. The inside compartment also holds the new proprietary TPU strap. You'll immediately notice the new cushion design, which takes inspiration from the Galaxy Watch Ultra. In short, the casing is made from two parts – a brushed aluminum squircle piece and a round AMOLED display on top. The new design allowed Samsung to make the Watch8 thinner as it now measures just 8.6 mm. It feels pretty light on the wrist too at just 30 grams. Our 40mm version gets a 1.34-inch diagonal, but Samsung is also offering a larger 44mm size, which bumps up to 1.47 inches. Regardless of the casing size, you get Sapphire Crystal protection and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits – a big upgrade over the 2,000 nits peak on the Watch7 series. The updated design also brings Samsung's Dynamic Lug system, which is advertised to bring improvement in health and activity readings. There's a bunch of new health and activity tracking features inside One UI 8 Watch, and we're eager to see how the new Antioxidant Index fares in the real world. Watch8 brings two side buttons on the right-hand side, while the opposite houses the speakers. There's no physical rotating bezel like on the Classic version. Instead, the edges of the panel give off vibrations to simulate a 'digital bezel'. The 325mAh battery inside the Watch8 claims up to 40 hours with Always-on Display (AoD) off and 30 hours with AoD on. Weekly poll results: the Nothing Phone (3) is a major misstep for the company
Peter, 13 July 2025 Some people hate the looks, others hate the price – there was very little love shown for the Nothing Phone (3) in last week's poll. The design is certainly divisive and is a major misstep from a company that is so laser-focused on innovative design. Nothing also got overly ambitious with the pricing – the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and non-LTPO display on an $800/£800/€800/₹80,000 phone attracted a lot of criticism in the comments. And those aren't the only non-flagship features either. Plus, the small 5,150mAh battery feels like a waste of Si/C tech. It's not so bad in the US market where there are relatively few competing brands, but in Europe and especially in Asia, the Phone (3) is going to be a tough sell with these specs at this price. The price will fall, eventually, but the same goes for alternative models. While Nothing is a fairly new brand, Carl Pei is a veteran of the industry and was at OnePlus as the company navigated the change from cheap 'flagship killer' to more expensive (but still competitively priced) flagships. Galaxy Z Fold7/Flip7, Watch8 series, OnePlus Nord 5/CE5 official, Week 28 in review
Samsung made the biggest splash this week with the unveiling of its new foldables and watches. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the thinnest and lightest in the series, has the 200MP main camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and finally brings a 21:9 cover display. The Galaxy Z Flip7 also brings a bigger cover screen at 4.1 inches. Both are now up for pre-order. The Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic both ditch the round design for a squircle one. Both pack the same Exynos W1000 3nm SoC as the previous generation. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic has a smaller display than the Watch6 Classic, but adds the Galaxy Watch Ultra's Action button. Fold7 is bigger, lighter and now comes with a flagship main camera. Both watches use the "cushion" design that we saw on the Watch Ultra. Speaking of, there is no new Watch Ultra, only a new color for the original model. It will be among the few upgrades compared to its predecessor. Three new Galaxy foldables - possibly four if the tri-fold rumors are true - plus three new Galaxy watches are coming this Wednesday. Onelus announced the Nord 5 and Nord CE5 this week. The Nord 5 has a massive 6,800mAh battery and a big 6.83-inch 144Hz AMOLED panel. It runs on a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with up to 12GB of RAM. The Nord CE5 has a 6.77-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Dimensity 8350 chipset, and an even bigger 7,100mAh battery. Both phones are now on sale The Moto G96 also debuted with a 6.67-inch 144Hz OLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, and a 5,500mAh battery. It's going on sale in India on July 16. Nord CE5 brings the biggest battery ever fitted on a OnePlus phone. Open sales in India are set to kick off on July 16. Both feature six-core CPUs.
