Tribe aims to take form into Jersey T20 World Cup qualifiers
Tribe is the first island player to make it into the English first-class game since Jersey became an international nation. He made his international debut for Jersey as a 17-year-old, has played 25 T20 internationals to date and featured in all five of Jersey's games in their 50-over World Cup qualifiers in Namibia in 2023.Tribe says qualifying for a World Cup for the first time - having reached the final round of qualifying four times in the past - would be massive for Jersey. "It would make a huge amount of difference for a small island like ourselves and 100% we'll be giving it our best shot," he said."Who knows, in a T20 tournament like this, things can happen and we'll hope they fall on the right side for Jersey."The right-handed batter is one of just two fully professional players in the Jersey squad alongside Wellington's Nick Greenwood, who was born on the island before emigrating with his family to New Zealand as a toddler.Tribe hopes being the first island-trained player to make a career in county cricket will inspire the next generation of Jersey talent."When I was coming through as a Jersey player, there was always aspirations to play for Jersey on the international stage, but it was very much 'it's that or nothing', and getting into a county cricket set-up was very hard because they pick their own," he said."I didn't really like that and I never really believed that myself, so when I got a first taste for it, I wanted to sort of prove people wrong and know that wasn't the case."I hope what I'm currently doing allows people to see that there's a career outside of Jersey cricket and you can make it as a professional cricketer if you are born there."

Arsenal sign goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea
Arsenal have signed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The 30-year-old Spaniard spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, making 35 appearances in all competitions. Advertisement Arsenal had brought in Neto from the Cherries as back-up to David Raya, but the Brazilian has returned to the Cherries following the end of his own season-long loan. Kepa, who spent the 2023/24 campaign at Real Madrid, has signed a three-year deal, the PA news agency understands. The fee is reported to be around £5 million (€5.8 million), with the transfer subject to the completion of regulatory processes. 'I'm really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming,' Kepa told Arsenal's website. 'The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel (Arteta) and (goalkeeping coach) Inaki (Cana), how much they show me their desire to win, I think we are so close to winning and, hopefully, altogether, we can achieve it.' Advertisement Kepa became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when he joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in a £71 million (€82.6 million) deal during the summer of 2018, going on to win the Europa League and Champions League with the Blues as well as the 2023 UEFA Nations League with Spain. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is confident Kepa will provide plenty of competition for his compatriot Raya. 'He is a player we know, having come up against him many times in recent seasons,' Arteta said. 'He brings a wealth of experience, which his team-mates will benefit from, and he has a real hunger to win. 'Kepa works hard and will elevate our levels. I know he will fit in perfectly, already knowing some of his team-mates, and we are really excited about his future with us.' Advertisement Arsenal also appear to be closing in on deals for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi. The Gunners are in need of midfield reinforcements, with Thomas Partey having become a free agent after his contract expired and Jorginho also leaving the club earlier this month to join Brazilian club Flamengo.
