Leny Yoro names shock ex-Arsenal star as 'toughest striker' he's ever faced
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has picked out ex-Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette as the toughest striker he has ever come up against on a football pitch.
Though still in the infancy of his career, Yoro has already locked horns with some of the finest attacking talent in world football, including Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Kylian Mbappe.
And given the French centre-back is not even out of his teens, there are sure to be many, many more daunting challenges ahead of him over the coming years.
Yoro could be forgiven for wanting United to bring in a high-class centre-forward of their own this summer, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee badly struggling to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.
Prior to his £52million transfer move from Lille to United, the 19-year-old only had one full season under his belt in senior football with his boyhood team.

But the second leg of United's Europa League quarter-final with Lyon in April marked the fifth time that Yoro had gone toe to toe with Lacazette – and it's clear he rates his fellow countryman extremely highly.
Lacazette has racked up four goals in his those five meetings with Yoro, leaving a strong impression on the youngster.
'The toughest striker [I've faced]? I would say Lacazette, even in Ligue 1. He was very good,' Yoro told Rising Ballers.
'He's got a lot of experience because he played Premier League and Ligue 1.
'And his positioning in games, sometimes it's difficult for defenders, always in your back.'

Yoro opened his account for United in the first leg of the side's quarter-final with Lyon, directing home Manuel Ugarte's scruffy effort with a precise header from close range.
'Honestly, I was not ready to score!' Yoro joked when looking back on the 2-2 draw at Lyon's Groupama Stadium.
'But I didn't want to celebrate because I wanted to play quick to try to win the game.
'I was really happy because my family was there and after the game, they said they were really happy for me and proud so it was good.'
Going forward, Yoro is keen to add another string to his bow by bringing more 'aggression' to his game.
Asked which area he most needs to improve, Yoro replied: 'Maybe I would say, sometimes, my aggression, being more aggressive.
'With the ball, I need to improve, of course, but I think I'm good so maybe, sometimes, I need to be more aggressive.'
Yoro sees his long-term future at United and is desperate to start adding major trophies to his collection sooner rather than later.
Quizzed on where he sees himself in five years' time, he responded: 'I hope I will stay here, for sure, in Manchester.
'[Hopefully] I can say that I've won some titles and something has changed, maybe I have a child.'

Major Lawrence Shankland update as Hearts jet out to Spain for pre-season training camp
HEARTS are jetting off to Spain this morning for their pre-season training camp WITHOUT striker Lawrence Shankland. Jambos boss Derek McInnes had hoped to persuade him to commit to the Tynecastle club in a further round of talks this week. Advertisement 2 Lawrence Shankland is a key Hearts transfer target Credit: Alamy 2 Derek McInnes and his squad jet out to Spain today Credit: Shutterstock Editorial And he made it clear he wanted him to join his players on their summer trip. But Del's discussions have failed to reach a positive outcome and further doubt over Shankland's future at Hearts has now grown. The 29-year-old is out of contract so free to move elsewhere and has options in both England and abroad. McInnes has been reluctant to put a timescale on when he needs the Scotland striker to make his mind up - but has warned he won't wait much longer. Advertisement He remains convinced staying put is Shankland's best option and has made several pleas to the ex-Dundee United and Aberdeen forward in an attempt to secure him for next season. But with the Jambos players flying to Spain early this morning without Shankland as part of the party, the chances of him signing a new deal appear to be plummeting. McInnes has already added striker Claudio Braga in this window, with Elton Kabangu's loan from USG made permanent. While the door on Shankland is unlikely to be closed completely on the back of his decision to stay put in Scotland, the Jambos are ready to crank up their search for his replacement in the coming days. Advertisement The striker was last sighted undergoing some additional pre-pre-season training in Dubai in the company of none other than Rangers captain James Tavernier. He's had a busy summer already, after tying the knot with his new wife Nicole at a plush Scottish wedding venue at the end of last month. Rangers transfer special including Coady latest, why Turgeman move could be off & why Shankland's a no-brainer He's also been linked with a move to West Brom in England. Links between him and Rangers have gone cold recently with a new broom at Ibrox since the Andrew Cavenagh/49ers Enterprises takeover, but the sight of Shankland training with Tavernier made many Gers fans curious enough at least to see if something could still happen on the transfer front. Arsenal get swift response to bid to leave Mikel Arteta's plan in tatters
Arsenal are chasing a host of players as boss Mikel Arteta plots a dramatic rebuild of his squad but the Gunners have stumbled into trouble in their negotiations over one targe Arsenal have seen their opening bid for Valencia star Christhian Mosquera turned down by the Spanish side. The Gunners have identified Mosquera as a potential summer addition, with Mikel Arteta keen to add to his defensive ranks. It was thought that the centre-back would have been a relatively affordable signing, with Arsenal lodging an opening €19 million (£16.2m) bid to their Spanish colleagues. And Valencia instantly replied. According to Eldesmarque, the La Liga giants dismissed the Gunners' offer out of hand. They are determined to keep Mosquera at the club, with boss Carlos Corberan keen to build a new-look side around the 21-year-old. Mosquera's current deal at the Mestalla expires next summer but Valencia have an option to extend that by a year. Spanish chiefs are keen to up his release clause to around €35m (£29.9m), albeit his representatives want that to be lower at €25m (£21.3m). Fresh talks between Arsenal and Valencia are planned, with a bid of around €30m (£25.6m) potentially enough to convince the Spanish side to sell. Arteta's side have an alternative in the form of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi but he is expected to fetch far more this summer amid interest from Liverpool. Any central defensive addition will have to compete with William Saliba, Gabriel, Ben White and Jakub Kiwior at the Emirates - albeit the latter is among the candidates to leave before the start of next season. Speaking last season, Arteta sent a message to Arsenal chiefs that his squad needed work if the Gunners were to reduce the gap to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. He said: 'Obviously we need players because the squad is really short, and on top of that we are losing four or five players that are going to end contracts, and their loans are finished. 'So, we need to be sharp. Again, very disciplined in what we want to do, and make sure that we are strong in the next season.' Arsenal's business is unlikely to stop at centre-back. They are on the verge of sealing deals for Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Real Sociedad and Chelsea respectively. They are also closing in on the signing of Brentford midfielder and captain Christian Norgaard as a replacement for Thomas Partey. A winger and a striker also remain on Arsenal's shortlist. Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are the outstanding candidates for a new forward, albeit talks over both appear to have ground to a halt over recent weeks. Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Mbeumo CHOOSES United over Spurs, Gyokeres BOOST, Ndidi eyed as clause emerges
Red alert Liverpool claim they now rival Manchester United with one billion fans worldwide while becoming the most watched club in the Premier League. Old Trafford part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe boasted that the Red Devils were followed by that staggering global number as he launched plans to build a new £2billion stadium in March. But Anfield chairman Tom Werner has the figures to prove that his 'relentless' club not only finished top in the title race last season but also left their bitter rivals for dead in the TV viewing stakes as well. He insisted: 'We are very aware of the global power of Liverpool. The club's reach around the world is by far the strongest in the Premier League. 'We're the only Premier League club to surpass 500million views on television [by March 2025 from August last season]. 'Last season on social media we generated 1.7 billion engagements. That's not unique engagements, but it's still a huge number. 'Many Americans still don't appreciate the global power of football but over the next ten years I think the Premier League is going to be huge in the US. 'We think there could now be as many as a billion people around the world who follow Liverpool. 'There is a special connection with the fans. You feel it at the games at Anfield, when they start to sing You'll Never Walk Alone. It's deep and emotional.'
