The team and the Cup have left the IcePlex
The Panthers have loaded the buses and left the Baptist Health IcePlex at the War Memorial Auditorium for the parade. Among those on the bus with the Stanley Cup: defenseman Jaycob Megna, who was signed as a free agent in July and spent most of the season with the Panthers' American Hockey League minor league team in Charlotte.
Megna was born in Plantation on Dec. 10, 1992. The next day, during annual league meetings at The Breakers in Palm Beach, the NHL announced the granting of new franchises to be based in Anaheim and South Florida.
The daily precipitation comes early
Before the parade, around 10:55 a.m., a light drizzle came down near the stage area next to the beach. At 85 degrees with a 74% humidity, nature's sprinkling system was appreciated by the folks gathered there.
Wristbands for kids
Kids along the route are getting blue wristbands from Fort Lauderdale police with parents' phone numbers in case the kids get separated in all the hubbub.

Buffalo's defense is clearly better than Philadelphia's, and the same goes for the Sabres' depth of high-end talent at forward. Buffalo has more upper-tier talent at all positions, so a Sabres sweep wouldn't and shouldn't be out of the question next year. The New Jersey Devils and the NHL have announced that international fans can now stream every NHL game, including the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final, on DAZN, as part of a new multi-year partnership. The deal covers over 200 countries and territories outside of North America, making it easier than ever for fans around the world to follow their favorite teams and players. DAZN is a British-based sports streaming platform, owned by Access Industries and headquartered in London. Originally founded as Perform Group in 2007, it rebranded as DAZN in 2015. Erik van Rooyen withdraws from Wyndham Championship late Friday afternoon
There was another withdrawal at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, as Erik van Rooyen tapped out with a back injury Friday afternoon, according to the PGA Tour. The South African was 1 over through 14 holes (he started on No. 10) in his second round. He was 4 over overall, well off the projected cut line of 4 under. There were four previous withdrawals since Sunday from this event, the final one of the 2025 regular season for the PGA Tour and van Rooyen's departure was announced 10 minutes after the tournament officials suspended play for "dangerous weather." In the projected FedEx Cup Playoffs standings at the time of his WD, van Rooyen was 68th, down four spots from where he was when the tournament started. Only the top 70 in the points on Sunday night advance to the first event in the postseason, next week's FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
