SE Cupp: ‘Heat shield' Elon Musk is not going anywhere

Laura Loomer's meeting with the President at the White House about his National Security team and the resulting firings are sparking a bigger conversation at The Table for Five. SE Cupp says President Trump in his first term had a chance to say extremists were not welcome in the MAGA movement and the result is people like Laura Loomer now associate themselves with conservatism. Van Lathan says these extremes have been culturally codified and Loomer's visit to the White House was so shocking he thought it had to be some kind of stunt.

Gavin Newsom is going low. Is this the future of Democratic campaigns?

Shallow, juvenile quips are not atypical for a platform that has devolved into a safe space for bullies and their simpering followers. But the account that produced them is not that of your usual troll. @GavinNewsom is the personal, and very active, X account of the governor of California, a presumptive Democratic presidential candidate in 2028. And it has become quite spicy of late. Advertisement For most of his six and a half years in office, Newsom's social media persona was what you might expect from any governor — serious, informative, self-promotional. But his public persona began to evolve earlier this year, in what many observers saw as an attempt to broaden his appeal nationally beyond the Democratic base. For example, in February he launched a podcast in which he held rap sessions with MAGA influencers — such as conservative activist But the common-ground approach took a back seat in June after President Trump federalized the National Guard and sent US Marines into Los Angeles to 'protect' immigration agents as they conducted aggressive immigration raids. The governor was understandably angered by the assault on his state and its people, and he was no longer willing to hide it. The gloves came off, replaced by a set of virtual brass knuckles. Among many other recent posts, Newsom has taunted Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy as Advertisement Newsom has apparently decided that the way to beat the White House trolls is to out-troll them. 'I think it's smart,' said Mike Madrid, a California-based Republican political strategist and a cofounder of the Lincoln Project, a political action committee formed by moderate conservatives dedicated to opposing Trump (though he's not involved with it now). He noted that the gutter is the current arena of American politics, and if you want to be a player, you have to get a little dirty, like it or not. Besides, Democrats have been dying for a leader who will fight back effectively against the president's increasingly ugly rhetoric. So far, Newsom's snarkiness appears to be paying off. A Have other Democrats adopted the Newsom approach? 'Not yet,' Madrid said, 'but they will.' Oof. If this is the future of presidential campaigns, it's going to be a muddy few years. Advertisement Steve Maviglio, a Democratic political consultant in Sacramento, says he's not a fan of Newsom's strategy. 'To me, it's the little dog barking at the big dog trying to get his attention,' Maviglio told me. But what troubles both Maviglio and Madrid (and me) is that Newsom is considering going beyond warring with words and is flirting with the same sneaky tactics as his political opponents by subverting the mission of the state's independent redistricting process. In response to the Intentionally rigging districts, whether or not you convince voters to play along, is pretty stinky. Not only does this follow the same playbook Trump and his GOP allies have employed, but it could But who knows? Maybe the only way to win the White House in the near future is to be as tricksy as the other guy. So far, no Democrat has figured out another method to effectively compete with MAGA. Advertisement They go low, we go high? That's old school. They go low, we go lower? Perhaps. Heaven help us.

Trump's MAGA Influencer Ally Launches 'Tip Line' To Purge ‘Disloyal' Government Workers

MAGA ally and far-right conspiracist Laura Loomer launched a 'tip line' on Thursday designed to purge 'Obama-Biden holdover' government officials who may be 'disloyal' to President Donald Trump. 'I'm happy to take people's tips about disloyal appointees, disloyal staffers and Biden holdovers,' Loomer told Politico, speaking about the tip line she named 'Loomered.' 'And I guess you could say that my tip line has come to serve as a form of therapy for Trump administration officials who want to expose their colleagues who should not be in the positions that they're in.' According to Loomer, there is 'a serious vetting crisis' within the Trump administration, and she predicts that 'hundreds' more will be fired. Loomer then claimed she has 'people in the West Wing' and 'people in pretty much every single agency within the federal government' who are coming to her 'with concerns.' She had previously used the term 'Loomered' Mike Waltz being ousted from his position following the Signalgate fiasco. Although Loomer holds no official government position, The New York Times reported in April that several people from the Trump National Security Council have been fired based on her advice. Loomer had also campaigned for the firings of former NSA Director Tim Haugh and former federal prosecutor Maurene Comey. She has also frequently complained on X about other government officials, including Vinay Prasad, who resigned from the Food and Drug Administration. One of her more notably recent online rants targeted Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom she called on to resign ' before she is FIRED' over her department's handling of convicted sex abuser Jefferey Epstein's case. Other former government officials who've been ousted shortly after Loomer posted about them on X include former Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Schleifer — whom Loomer called a 'Biden holdover' — and Jen Easterly, whose job offer from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point was rescinded this week. 'So many scalps this week!' Loomer boasted Wednesday on X. 'Stacking them up!'

Donald Trump said he loved Sweeney's ad after learning new information about her.

President Donald Trump has joined a chorus of MAGA fans praising Sydney Sydney after her provocative jeans advert. While speaking to reporters before departing Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, Trump was asked about reporting over the weekend that the Euphoria actress is a registered Republican. The president said the 27-year-old is 'fantastic' after learning her political leanings. 'She's a registered Republican? Now I love her ad,' Trump said. 'You'd be surprised at how many people are Republicans. That's what I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that.'
