Stellantis Delays the Electric Ram 1500 and Ramcharger Again

Stellantis Delays the Electric Ram 1500 and Ramcharger Again

Motor 115-05-2025
It's been over two years since Ram revealed the 1500 REV. It was supposed to hit dealerships in the United States by late 2024, but Stellantis pushed back the electric truck's launch to 2025. The Ramcharger with its range-extending V-6 broke cover about a year and a half ago and was scheduled to go on sale in late 2024. That didn't happen either, as the launch was postponed to 2025. Now, the two models have been pushed back yet again.
You'll have to wait until the first quarter of 2026 to get behind the wheel of the Ramcharger. Stellantis says it needs more time to finalize the product by 'extending the quality validation period' to iron out kinks. As if that wasn't bad enough, the
1500 REV
now has an on-sale date of summer 2027. When it does eventually arrive, the purely electric truck will be a 2028MY in the United States.
In an email to
Crain's Detroit Business
, Stellantis spokeswoman Jodi Tinson explained the latest 1500 REV delay as a response to 'slowing consumer demand for half-ton BEV pickups.' The 1500 REV was initially meant to precede the Ramcharger, but the rollout order was reversed last year.
By the time the electric truck reaches customers, more than four years will have passed since its debut in February 2023. The
Ramcharger
, which premiered in November 2023, is now expected to launch in Q1 2026, just over two years after its debut, assuming there are no further delays.
Both pickups will be built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, where Stellantis is
investing $235.5 million
to prepare the facility for production. This will be the automaker's first U.S. factory to build a fully electric vehicle. The Dodge Charger Daytona is assembled in Brampton, Ontario; the Jeep Wagoneer S in Toluca, Mexico; and the slow-selling Fiat 500e is imported from Turin, Italy.

Ram TRX Set to Return with V-8 Power and Brash Off-Road Prowess

Summary The mightyRam TRXis officially Antonio Filosa confirmed the comeback during the company's Q2 financial call, calling the supercharged V-8 truck a strong contributor to both volume and profit margins. While Filosa didn't lock in production dates, insiders cited by Mopar Insidersclaimthe new TRX could begin rolling off the line as early as January 2026. Originally powered by a 6.2L Hellcat V-8 making 702 hp, the previous TRX set a high bar for off-road muscle trucks. With Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis now also leading Stellantis's SRT performance division, expectations are high for the next-gen TRX to raise the horsepower stakes even further. While design and drivetrain details remain under wraps, the next TRX will likely stay true to its formula: supercharged V-8 power, rugged styling and extreme off-road capability. The model's return also signals a broader strategy shift at Ram, which has confirmed the HEMI V-8 will rejoin the 1500 lineup in 2026 and teased 25 new product announcements within 18 months. With relaxed fuel economy standards under the current U.S. administration, Ram is doubling down on V-8 performance — and the TRX is just the beginning.

Italy's new car sales down 5.11% in July

ROME (Reuters) -Sales of new cars in Italy fell by 5.11% year-on-year in July, transport ministry data showed on Friday, indicating a persistently weak market in the European Union's third largest economy. Total sales in July stood at 118,493 vehicles. Market leader Stellantis, whose brands include Fiat, Jeep and Peugeot, suffered an even bigger sales slide of around 13% year-on-year, according to Reuters calculations. The Franco-Italian automaker's market share, however, edged up to 25.8% from 24.55% in June, according to the same calculations. Fiat remained Italy's most popular car brand, followed by Toyota-Lexus and Volkswagen, the ministry data showed. Chinese automaker BYD enjoyed an almost tenfold growth in sales, from 205 to 1,967 units, and overtook historic Italian brand Alfa Romeo, which last month sold 1,953 cars.
