Allu Arjun is reportedly in talks to play the lead in Sony Pictures' upcoming Shaktimaan movie, replacing earlier speculation about Ranveer Singh.
The iconic Indian superhero Shaktimaan might finally be leaping from our television nostalgia into the cinematic universe — and if reports are to be believed, none other than Allu Arjun could don the legendary red suit. The beloved 90s show, which made Mukesh Khanna a household name, has long been in talks for a big-screen adaptation, but now, fresh buzz suggests that the project is gaining real momentum.
According to a report by Bollywood Bubble, Pushpa superstar Allu Arjun is currently in discussions to play the titular role in Sony Pictures' highly ambitious reboot of Shaktimaan. Adding to the excitement, Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph — who earned critical and commercial acclaim for delivering India's first homegrown superhero film with heart and style — is reportedly onboard to helm the project.
'The much ambitious Shaktimaan is now to be revived with Allu Arjun. Basil Joseph has been roped in to direct the mega venture. He's in talks with Allu Arjun to bring the superhero to life. The team wants to honour the nostalgic value of the original series while crafting a high-octane narrative with cutting-edge technology," a source told the portal.
The source further revealed that this could be one of the biggest pan-India collaborations to date, with 'two big international studios and Geetha Arts teaming up, along with stakeholders from four different film industries."
Though no official confirmation has been made yet, the speculation alone has sent fans into a frenzy. Allu Arjun's magnetic screen presence and recent pan-India success with the Pushpa franchise make him a strong contender for a role that demands both gravitas and mass appeal. If he signs on, watching him channel India's original superhero will be nothing short of a cinematic event.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun is also gearing up for another massive project — his upcoming film with director Atlee, co-starring Deepika Padukone. Currently in pre-production, this film too is expected to be a high-budget, multilingual release, with a reported release window sometime in 2027.

AR Rahman shares excitement about collaborating with Hans Zimmer for Ramayana: ‘Who would have thought…'

Oscar winners AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer have joined forces to compose the music for Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming film Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash as Ravana. In a recent interview, Rahman opened up about working on Ramayana's music. In a conversation with Connect Cine, Rahman was asked about entering the 'Rahman 2.0' phase and how he is keeping pace with the rapidly changing music industry. 'I think I am born everyday. The whole world is changing everyday. A few thoughts have to go and new thoughts have to come,' he said. The singer added that he ensures his core remains constant despite the changes. 'But, the core of me is the same. What I believe in and what we can do with my music and how I can share it with people who love me, accept, or don't accept me. My efforts and the whole intention are the same. But, there are many other changes happening because the studios are different, artistes are different, the way they are recording is different, the way we vibe is different and the projects are different too.' Adnan Sami Recalls Lata Mangeshkar Singing To His Ailing Father: ‘There Were Tears In His Eyes'

Adnan Sami recalls the emotional moment when Lata Mangeshkar sang to his ailing father on his deathbed, calling it one of the most touching memories of his life. Singer Adnan Sami recently offered a heartfelt glimpse into his cherished relationship with the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, reflecting on the immense personal and emotional impact she had on his family. In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Sami revealed that his late father, Arshad Sami Khan, was an ardent admirer of the iconic singer and that her lullaby 'Dheere Se Aaja Ri Ankhiyan Mein" held a special place in their hearts. 'Beyond being the Bharat Ratna, beyond being the Nightingale of India, she was the ultimate voice that graced the microphones and speakers of this country," Sami said, paying tribute to Mangeshkar's unparalleled legacy. He further shared that his father, who was well-versed in her repertoire, idolised her throughout his life. 'She was my father's favourite. He grew up listening to her and could sing all her songs. So, collaborating with her was not just a professional milestone—it was deeply personal. It made my father extraordinarily proud," he shared. The bond between Mangeshkar and the Sami family was further underscored during one of the most difficult times in their lives—when Arshad Sami was battling terminal pancreatic cancer. Recalling a deeply emotional moment, Adnan said, 'He was literally on his deathbed in Mumbai. Watching someone you love suffer like that makes you feel helpless. One day, I called didi and told her about his condition. She had met him years ago, and I hoped that just hearing her voice would lift his spirits." The call proved to be profoundly moving. 'I remember handing him the phone—he was stunned to hear her voice. His face lit up, and tears rolled down his cheeks as he spoke about how he'd been listening to her since childhood. She began singing to him. It brought him peace. That is where she stood with me," Sami said with emotion. Adnan also shared a more personal and tender side of their friendship—Lata Mangeshkar's fondness for his daughter, Medina. A passionate hobbyist of photography and editing, she would lovingly enhance the pictures Adnan shared of his daughter. 'When Medina was born, I would send her photos, and she would zoom in on details she found adorable, like her toe. She would colour correct and crop them. Even toward the end of her life, I kept sending her pictures, and she kept editing them. She was very special to me," he added. Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022, leaving behind a legacy that resonates across generations. For Adnan Sami, her memory lives on—not just through her timeless voice, but also through the intimate, meaningful moments they shared as friends and family.
