Frantic search for missing Scots driver, 17, after abandoned car found on fire

A FRANTIC search is underway for a missing teen driver after an abandoned car was found on fire on a Scots road.
The vehicle blaze happened on the B941 between Kilconquhar and Largoward in Fife in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 1.10am.
After nearly an hour of extinguishing the inferno, concern arose as there were no occupants within or nearby.
Police are now searching for 17-year-old Matthew Milne, who is believed to have been driving the car.
He is believed to have left the scene but officers are keen to locate him to ensure his safety.
Matthew is described as 5ft 8in, of slim build, with light brown hair.
When last seen, he was wearing a black football top, black joggers and black and white Adidas trainers.
Sergeant Chris Hail said: 'Concerns are growing for Matthew's welfare and it is vital that we find him to make sure he is safe and well.
'Extensive searches are ongoing and we are asking anyone who has seen Matthew or knows where he might be to get in touch.
'If Matthew hears about this appeal then I urge him to contact us or his family.'

The Republican chief was then whisked to his luxury Turnberry resort 20 miles down the Ayrshire coast, where he has been spotted playing golf over the weekend. But moments after Mr Trump's specially customised Boeing 747-200B jets landed, police arrested a man for alleged abusive behaviour. The man, aged 20, was next to the military airport in Ayrshire where Air Force One landed, holding a large sign. Witnesses have claimed that the writing on the placard had an offensive slur on it that was directed at Mr Trump. It is understood that the alleged incident unfolded in the Mound viewing point, which is close to Prestwick Airport. This is where a large crowd of people gathered to catch the iconic aircraft landing. A large number of officers were in the area at the time. One local said they heard a shout moments after the aircraft landed on the tarmac and saw police put the man in handcuffs. They added: "It all happened really quickly". He wasted no time in name-dropping the acting legend as he stepped off the flight from the States. Mr Trump said Connery, from Edinburgh, helped him get the permits for the two courses at the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire that he will visit this week. The new course will be named after his mother, Mary MacLeod, who was born and raised on the Isle of Lewis. He said: 'There's no place like Turnberry. It's the best course in the world. 'My son is going to cut a ribbon for the second course in Aberdeen. 'We love you, Trump' DONALD Trump was seen blowing kisses to to supporters this morning as he teed off for a second round of golf at his luxury Turnberry resort. Three hardy Trump fans from Liverpool gathered on the dunes near the course today and shouted 'We Love you Trump' as he left the third green. Kay English, 38, said she and hubby Tom had travelled from England to show the President that he was loved by people in the UK. The pair wore 'Make England Great Again' caps modelled on the MAGA design and waved a Stars and Stripes. They held up a crude banner mocking Sir Keir Starmer which Mr Trump tried to read from the course. Kay said: "I shouted 'We love you, Trump' because I want him to realise those protests against him are the minority. "I was so happy that he blew me a kiss. I like him because he stands for the people, unlike our politicians." Mr Trump began his round around 10.45am with an entourage of 27 golf buggies following on behind him. The President was also joined by his son Eric again this morning on the Ailsa course. His other son Donald Trump Jr was also spotted on the course. The President always played first but appeared to be struggling with the brisk wind. He had to play out of a bunker on the fourth but was able to pitch from the sand in one shot. 'Sean Connery helped get me the permits, if it wasn't for Sean Connery we wouldn't have those great courses.' Despite the arrest, many Trump fans descended on the spot close to the runway from Friday morning to wait for his arrival. One supporter waved a Make America Great Again flag, while another man wore a cap with the tongue-in-cheek message Scotland Is Already Great emblazoned on it. Some youngsters were also seen sporting Mr Trump's signature red MAGA hat. The airport area was under heavy security, with scores of cops keeping a close eye on the crowds. Police snipers also stood watch on Prestwick's air traffic control tower and a scaffold platform close to where the Commander in Chief disembarked the iconic modified Boeing 747. Mr Trump's visit is expected to last until Tuesday, July 29. The President is also scheduled to meet Scottish First Minister John Swinney and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during his trip. A massive £5million security operation has been rolled out to ensure his safety, with around 6,000 police officers drafted in from across the UK to support the efforts. Scots bin lorry driver killed schoolboy cyclist after failing to check road
Ross Wallace first failed to realise he's struck Thomas Wong and continued driving before he eventually stopped and discovered the schoolboy lying in the roadway. A Scots bin lorry driver has admitted causing the death of a child who was cycling to school by failing to carry out proper checks as he pulled out of the car park of the world's oldest golf club. Ross Wallace struck 11-year-old Thomas Wong as he drove the NWH Group refuse truck out of the exit of the Royal Burgess Golfing Society car park in Cramond, Edinburgh last year. Wallace, 29, continued to drive the large vehicle unaware he had struck the child before he eventually stopped and discovered the tragic victim lying in the roadway. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision with the Scania HGV refuse lorry at around 8.30am on March 1 last year. Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told internal cab footage from the truck had captured Wallace "using his mobile phone on numerous occasions" over the course of three hours prior to the accident. The footage showed Wallace had failed to "keep proper observations of the road ahead while driving the bin lorry" and on one occasion he is viewed "using his mobile phone while reversing the HGV". The court was told the use of the mobile phone while Wallace, of Prestonpans, East Lothian, drove the bin lorry "occurred earlier on in the day and had no bearing on the collision" involving the child. Wallace pleaded guilty to causing the death of Thomas Wong by driving without due care and attention at Whitehouse Loan Edinburgh, on March 1 last year when he appeared at the city' s sheriff court on Thursday. He also admitted to a charge of driving while failing to keep proper observations on the road and on repeated occasions drive while using a mobile phone while reversing the vehicle. Prosecutor Anna Robertson read out a written narration and said Thomas had been cycling along the pavement on his way to school when he approached the car park exit to the Royal Burgess Golf Club. Ms Robertson said: "On exiting the car park onto Whitehouse Road, the accused's vehicle struck Thomas, who at that time, was cycling on the pavement across the junction. "Internal dashcam footage of the HGV showed the accused looking around the car park as he proceeded to exit. "As he prepared to turn left onto Whitehouse Road, the accused was seen to continuously look to his right as he moved forwards, over the wall at the car park, towards the oncoming traffic in his direction. "The accused failed to make proper observations to his left and failed to account for any vulnerable road users crossing the junction and footpath. "Having heard a noise, the accused was initially unaware that he had struck Thomas. He stopped the vehicle and discovered the deceased on the roadway." The court was told a subsequent collision investigation had found the speed of the bin lorry had "reduced to 7.5 mph immediately prior to the point of impact with the deceased". Ms Robertson said: "The CCTV speed analysis shows that the driver of the Scania HGV has not reacted to the presence of Thomas and has continued diving south on Whitehouse Road." The investigation concluded the collision occurred due to the driver failing to "carry out visual checks prior to driving across the driveway where the deceased was cycling". The report also stated 11-year-old Thomas had "failed to carry out sufficient observations for vehicles which may be exiting the car park". The fiscal depute added: "In the opinion of the collision investigators, the accused's lack of caution at the car park exit has led to his being unaware of the initial collision with the deceased and to the vehicle continuing its journey southwards, whereby the Scania HGV has driven over the deceased, inflicting fatal injuries." Sheriff Alistair Noble issued Wallace with an interim driving ban and deferred full sentence for the preparation of social work reports to next month.

It is believed to have ran into trouble shortly after take off with data from the Aviation Safety Network showing that it "crashed into the sea during a night-time approach to Monterey Airport." "On approach the aircraft entered a descending left-hand turn. During the turn the aircraft climbed again before entering a high-speed descent until it crashed into the sea about 22:38 hours," per the aviation outlet. In an update, a reporter from KION News who is at the scene, said that the body of one person has been recovered as divers continue to search the area. Responders received a lost radar alert as well a flurry of 911 calls from horrified locals who said they heard an engine revving or a loud noise before a huge splash in the ocean near Asilomar. On Facebook, one local said: "I'm dog sitting for my daughter in Pacific Grove. I'm laying in bed around 10PM and I hear a low flying airplane overhead. "I'm wondering to myself 'it sounds like it might hit her house'. Then I hear a sudden splat and it goes silent."
