Glastonbury has banned one popular makeup - so we found some great alternatives
This year Glastonbury Festival has banned attendees from using glitter makeup, but don't despair, because we found some glitter-free alternatives to create your festival beauty look
If you're packing your bags for this year's Glastonbury Festival, there's one thing you should be leaving out – glitter. The organisers have banned all glitter makeup from being brought into the festival (including biodegradable types!), which means you may have to re-think those sparkly beauty looks you had planned.
Whilst you are allowed to buy biodegradable glitter from vendors once you're actually inside Worthy Farm, if you want to plan your makeup looks accordingly it might be time to think of a beauty plan B. So we've tracked down the best metallic looks that'll get you in the Glasto spirit without a hint of glitter in sight.
Sephora Collection Colorful Special Effects Multichrome Liquid Eyeshadow - £15.99
It doesn't get more metallic than these multichrome liquid eyeshadows from Sephora. The creamy texture and precise tip means you can apply them as a sharp cat eye, blend them out into a smudgy shadow or use them to create patterns and designs on your skin.
They also last up to 12 hours without smudging, which as anyone who's ever been to a festival knows, is a godsend. Choose from three different shades, and give yourself unlimited beauty looks with one handy product.
Violette FR Yeux Paint - £33
If you prefer a solid monochromatic look, Violette FR's Yeux Paints are a must-buy. There are eight metallic shades to choose from, and you can also pick up a matte shade that matches, letting you create infinite different looks.
They have a lightweight, buildable and blendable formula, and are crease-, smudge- and fade-proof, so they'll last through hours of dancing. You can use them for a subtle wash of colour, to create sharp, precise liner looks, or blend them into soft smokey eyes. And the best part is you don't even need a brush to apply them.
E.l.f Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadow - £8
For anyone wanting to top up their festival beauty bag on a budget, E.l.f's Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadows are perfect. There's a choice of four different shades which suit all skin tones, and each one is highly pigmented and has a metallic swatch of colour which shifts colour in the light.
The long-lasting gel-based formula should see you through hours of dancing whilst still feeling comfortable to wear, and you can use them to create a whole host of different multi-dimensional beauty looks that are perfect for festival season.
Glisten Cosmetics UV IT! Clear UV Eyeliner – £8.50
Maria Mukaranda, Beauty Editor at Cosmetify, also suggested that UV eyeliner is a great way to give your makeup that festival-inspired look without the glitter. The neon liner shows up under ultraviolet light – which there will be plenty of around Glasto – and brings an unexpected twist to your eye makeup.
You can mix it with your existing liner to add an extra element to your go-to makeup, or keep it clear and create everything from bold graphic liner to UV-activated freckles. To use it you just dip your liner brush in water and swirl it in the product, before applying it wherever you want to glow under the lights.

Glastonbury Festival 'appalled' by Bob Vylan's Israeli military chants
The festival organisers' comments come after police said they are assessing videos from the band's performance on Saturday, along with Irish trio Kneecap's set. Rapper Bobby Vylan, one half of the rap punk duo Bob Vylan, led crowds on the festival's West Holts Stage in chants of 'death, death to the IDF' along with 'free, free Palestine'. Responding to comments made by Bob Vylan on Saturday, Glastonbury Festival released a statement in a post on Instagram. READ MORE: Kneecap responds to 'legend' who streamed their Glastonbury set after BBC blackout It read: 'With almost 4000 performances at Glastonbury 2025, there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stages whose views we do not share, and a performer's presence here should never be seen as a tacit endorsement of their opinions and beliefs. 'However, we are appalled by the statements made from the West Holts stage by Bob Vylan yesterday. 'Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence.'

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis says anti-IDF chants 'crossed a line' and no place at festival for 'hate speech'
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has said chants of "death to the IDF" on its West Holts stage on Saturday "very much crossed a line". Eavis, whose father Michael co-founded the festival, posted on Instagram on Sunday morning responding to duo Bob Vylan's set the night before. "Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the Festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence," she wrote. She said that while "as a festival, we stand against all forms of war and terrorism - we will always believe in - and actively campaign for - hope, unity, peace and love" - a performer's comments "should never be seen as a tacit endorsement of their opinions and beliefs". Eavis added: "With almost 4,000 performances at Glastonbury 2025, there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stages whose views we do not share." Charli XCX fans raging over 'atrocious' lack of one thing from her Glastonbury set
Charli XCX took to the stage to headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival last night, Saturday June 28. Charli XCX stunned Glastonbury crowds with her headline slot last night, but fans are fuming over one vital element missing from her performance. The British pop sensation began sharing music on MySpace in 2008, and swiftly became a staple of London rave culture. Charli XCX hit number one in the UK charts in 2012 with Icona Pop collaboration 'I Love It', and her success soared following the hit 'Fancy' with Iggy Azalea in 2014. But last year, Charli rose to complete global stardom with her hit album Brat. The record topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, and Australia, and made an impressive debut at number three on the Billboard 200. Charli's 2024 album also led to eight Grammy nominations at the 67th annual awards, including Album of the Year. She bagged three wins - Best Dance Pop Recording for "Von Dutch", Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Recording Package. Charli's fiancé, George Daniel of The 1975, who also topped the bill at Glasto on Friday, was amongst the excited festival-goers. The excitement buzzed amid speculation that Lorde would grace the stage with Charli to perform their collaboration 'Girl, so confusing' , reports the Manchester Evening News. But Lorde's surprise gig at Woodies Stage at 11.30am meant she didn't join Charli XCX, leading to some disappointed fans voicing their feelings online. On X, @ctphonehomee expressed dismay: "So lorde not being here is atrocious??" and @V4MPIRESHAWTY queried: "WHERE IS LORDE". One fan, @begforloves, expressed their surprise: "Now why would Lorde not be there", while @mattyscruff chimed in with: "not the crowd screaming bc they assumed lorde was coming out". @allyallonsy01 echoed the sentiment, stating: "I was hoping lorde was gonna come out". Lorde and Charli XCX broke the internet when the long feuding stars decided to work out their differenced through the song 'Girl, so confusing' which tackles the complexities of female friendship and girlhood. Despite Lorde's disappointing absence from her set, the Glastonbury crowds lapped up the star's energetic performance. But some viewers at home accused Charli of miming rather than singing live. One user fumed: "Oh ffs can't watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful. Could literally be any random person miming. WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing." Another added: "Predictable but shame nonetheless that charli xcx can't sing live #Glastonbury2025 #charlixcx FAKE." And a third said: "Charli xcx Embarressing [sic]that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing…" Charli has graced several festival stages already this year, including Coachella, Primavera Barcelona and Primavera Porto. Lorde has also been busy, having released new album Virgin on June 27. This marks Lorde's first new album since the release of Solar Power in 2021.
